wait, what hut. i have no huts in enderwood... unless you mean the melon stand.

I'm not in Enderwood, did I say I was ?
I meant you have a hut down near my ranch, a wood cutting hut made of cobble with an iron block inside ?
If you consider were my Abandoned Vault is, its North-East of there over the Sea in the forests near my dirt house and the Lake

What exactly would they do that would cause a spike in traffic?

Edit: Hey Bone, when we swap server hosts, is there any chance of us having a new pre-1.9 map so we can test rp, just for the sake of it? I'm not speaking for everyone, but I personally am a bit bored of this map.

I am too but I have a problem with the 1.9 pre-releases, can't make any new maps with them - just closes down the app.

Bukkit is not supporting any pre-releases. If we were to install a pre 1.9 update, we would lose all bukkit functionality and the mods that go with it.

While I'll admit to being a bit bored with the current map, I think having a few weeks with a Pre-1.9 map wouldn't help matters. You couldn't do any really massive projects because we'd be moving to 1.9 pretty soon.

Heh, you guys are misreading me. I don't mean we should install 1.9 pre-releases. I mean a new 1.8 map before 1.9 is officially released. (I dont play with Pre-Releases personally)

I thought the plan was to start the RP map as soon as we switched hosts?

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I was going to upload the world tree map so people can play in it and get an idea of what they want to do etc etc. we could also try out the rp mechanics. after MC releases, i'll add it to the dropbox and reup it again as a clean save if people like it.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Having trouble adding funds to Xenon. It says I need an active order to do so. It's not active because I CAN'T TRANSFER THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR IT, because it won't let me. So I've got Mirglofs $22.50 sitting in my Paypal, waiting to be transferred. The other $7.50 of our $30 credit went back to the source so whoever donated it will be getting it back.

I've sent in a ticket to see what I can do.

I don't really understand the point of a 360 version, when mc can run on any computer out there. I can just see the marketplace now...being full of minecraft outfits/skins.

It's a money thing, and I'm sure they're trying to win back whatever audience they may have lost to Fortresscraft and games like that.

I don't really understand the point of a 360 version, when mc can run on most computers out there, except for the ones that MC simply refuses to work on because it's a horribly optimised piece of software. I can just see the marketplace now...being full of minecraft outfits/skins.

Fixed that for you.

A friend of mine has a computer forged out of mithril by the dwarves of Middle Earth that cannot run Minecraft in any way, shape or form without horrible lag.

Finding a good server to move to is turning out to be a pain in the ass. I'm hesitant to go with Xenon as it took the all day to answer a ticket and they also do not provide refunds. I'm not going to have you guys put money on something with no possible way to refund it.

I'm starting to think we might be better off staying with Jest. Its the only non VPS service I can find that doesn't cost a ton.

Nothing. We just won't be able to utilize custom blocks/items for Spout when it comes because we only have 1GB of RAM. The plugins we use now, which is half of what we were using, over taxes our RAM already by almost 100MB.

Another GB of RAM will cost us +$30.

I have found a lot of VPS servers that are cheaper but the performance won't be as good as a dedicated server. (VPS servers run off of Paging File type RAM and not Hardware)

Also, no other company I've contacted has had the level of customer service that Jest has.

I've been waiting for a response from Lethaldrive for about a week.

It took all day for Xenonservers to answer a ticket.

It has been well over 24 hours since I contacted RedstoneHost.

CreeperHosts' FAQ claims they do not support Bukkit.

etc etc etc.

Also, Jest have the cheapest dedicated non-VPS prices that I can find.

Since Spouts customization code won't be done for at least a month, I have decided to stay on Jest for a little bit and see what we can do.

I think that for the RP map we should have some sort of overarching narrative to help us along. Why are we here? What are our goals as a society? What are our goals as individuals? What were we doing before we got to the new map? Do we have any fears? Do we have religion? That sort of thing. If we answer questions like those we would probably be able to rp more convincingly and more naturally.
Tell me what you guys think.

Well it depends on the individual. As a serious roleplayer I would greatly welcome it, indeed I have already answered all of those questions for myself and my own character and it would be great for him to actually be apart of a bigger world.
