Unofficial Minecraft thread 59

I tried setting up just outside Enderwood but people kept breaking entry so I moved away, then further away again though I have spotted a new Mirglof hut pop up over night near my ranch.
Its just as well I didn't set up in Enderwood or it would have been wrecked :)

wait, what hut. i have no huts in enderwood... unless you mean the melon stand.

I would like to hold off on it until we switch servers, because we can definitely get a better deal than what we have now.

We have officially started moving server hosts. Our new host will be Xenonservers with a 4GB RAM server for $60/month.

A new Clan Pay donation system has been linked to the "How to Donate" thread over at the server forum.

Jest is going to refund our $30 plus a pro rated refund for all unused time and transfer all files once I get the FTP information on the new server.

This may happen today, or tomorrow, IDK.

It will surely be switched within the next 3 days.

Hopefully this new host is as good as its reviews at the MC Forums tell it.

XNS Technology Group? They seem to monopolize the GMod servers and one of their past associates was Brohoster.

... so what exactly does code freeze mean, are they no longer doing any work on the game or are they focusing on fixing bugs rather than adding new content?

Is the server down?

well we are switching host so that would be a yes.

The server is NOT down. I will be taking it down when I get home for work sometime so that I can zip the world file. I'm not sure if it make a copy or removes it.

I restarted the server and im still getting took too long to login messsages. I've checked the logs and there is nothing out of the ordinary. I don't know what it is.

EDIT: Its Notchs server. Confirmed.

I am too, for every server I try to log into. It's not a problem with our server.

So basically, it sounds like Notch took the login servers with him on vacation?

that wouldn't surprise me. probly thought it would be a good idea to leave it down until minecon so that he could surprise users. fits his logic.

Nope, they rent from Amazon's S3 cloud.

They create such a server load that Amazon yells at them whenever they do something profound enough to spike the traffic.

What exactly would they do that would cause a spike in traffic?

Edit: Hey Bone, when we swap server hosts, is there any chance of us having a new pre-1.9 map so we can test rp, just for the sake of it? I'm not speaking for everyone, but I personally am a bit bored of this map.

Game updates, backend restructuring, memory leaks... The usual immense lag-inducing things.

Memory Leaks? Hoo-boy, with 1.8 Mojang must have a representative of Amazon with them on the phone 24/7.
