Unofficial Skyrim DLC Discussion

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:43 am

One DLC per province, perhaps adding some gameplay along the way (like sailing ... to get to summerset)

Then DLCs for far away places like akavir .... and all the oblivion planes

should keep them busy until tes6
I highly, highly that we will be going to any content, leave that to a full game, please,
Akavir? We are never going to touch that.

I would like a falmer DLC, where you sleep in a special/any location then you wake up in the blackreach and a mighty falmer approach you asking if you could help the falmer to return to their former glory as the snow elves, and you can choose to help the falmer or something else im not sure but i want it to have a lot of choice because thats what i liked about fallout new vegas all the choices. and maybe you could like find some cure or a spell to turn the falmer into snow elves and i dont want it to end there, maybe you could choose who should be the new snow prince(exluding you) and after that help the snow prince take a hold like winterhold and they rebuild it to an epic snow elf city

or another DLC that would have been nice was one where you could either help the thalmor take over skyrim or kick them out of skyrim
The Falmer can't talk, they can't see anything either.
The Falmer aren't just like normal Elves anymore as they have devolved to a Goblin-like creature.

Help the Thalmor? Do you realize what that would mean?
Your pretty much asking for Tamriel to be destroyed, literally.

This would be incredibly ambitious, but I would love to go to Summerset Isles in the DLC.
Think about it, We defeated Alduin, but the fate of the empire and Tamriel as a whole is still in jeopardy. The shaky alliance between the Thallmor and the imperials is verging on disaster especially after

Spoiler
death of Titus Mede II and general chaos among the provinces with possible stromcloak occupation of skyrim and definite weakening of imperial legion (regardless of which side "won").

As the White-Gold Concordant falls apart, The empire decides it is time to strike back, sending naval fleets to Summerset to take the fight to the Thallmor.

Summerset is too small for a main game, but it looks to be similar in size to Shivering Isles.

I would easily pay 40+ USD for this, anyone with me?

Also options for AI that allow you to tailor the followers combat behavior like " i want you to be stealthy and use range", or "I want you to defend me and attack what I am attacking", or "Ignore the lesser enemies and focus on the most powerfull"

Just because the map looks small doesn't mean they can't make it bigger in-game, like they did with Skyrim itself.

Hammerfell would be awesome, but its way too big of an area and they'll probably save it for TES6 :)

I want to see the conclusion of the Civil War questline, with someone actually gaining the throne: Ulfric, the Empire or the Dragonborn.

My Nord wants to massacre lots of Thalmor for the glory of mighty Talos. Maybe there could be some sort of and explicit 'Talos crusader' faction.

A standalone house in the wilderness. (Mods will fix this before the DLC, I'm sure.)

Something cool with Khajiit, or maybe Argonians. In Oblivion I didn't really like them, and I thought they were lame. In Skyrim the Khajiit look and sound great. They are just really cool this time around.

2. Either Boethiah or Pretyite's realms.
Spoiler
Boethiah because the Goldbrand was made by dragons for a knight sworn to protect them, and Peryite because he is a dragon and says "perhaps we will meet again, afterwards" hinting at DLC.

That would be great.
Spoiler
The realm of Peryite was very disappointing in Oblivion, since it was merely a cut and paste of the Deadlands.
I hope that they will some day get it right, and provide us with an interesting Peryite-related place to explore. And yes, moreover it has the form of a Dragon, so the DLC of Skyrim need to do justice to him !

Here's my shot at making an anti-Wall O' Text for my DLC suggestion(s):

1. Dovahkiin Voice Pack- I hate the fact they my bruly Nord warrior sounds like a 15-year old. Please give us the ability to sample and choose a different voice for our characters during character creation.

2. The Thalmor- I throughly enjoy kicking the (expletive) out of these guys. Make more of them and put them in a storyline that fits witth the vanilla theme that you've already established.

3. More items- We could always use more unique items stuffed inside quests and/or the leveled loot tables. Inject some leftover concept art into these items so that we may see what was on your minds during the games development, but for some reason they were left out of the final build.

4. Horse armor- Just kidding.

If they add new places I just want it to be something new. Forget the Solstheim/Morrowind/Cyrodiil stuff - I've been there and done that.

I think asking for an entirely new province is a little unrealistic. Personally, I think a good DLC would be the story of the Orcs, and retaking Orsinium. Maybe they could explore a little more of Sovernguard or a little more of Morrowind and it's fate.

I think it would be nice if more general dialogue for all NPCs could be added with each DLC, stuff like "Oh! You're an alchemist...." doesn't really work after buying $2k worth of ingredients from the potion shop.

A Dwemer return would be the biggest thing I could think of for DLC.

I would like Spellmaking to get shoehorned into something, but I don't know how they'll do that. I don't really care. I'm on PC and will likely have a fix soon enough, but when that mod arrives the "in can't be fit in" argument goes bye-bye. Then, at that moment, vanilla Skyrim goes from being a game that fails at basic principles of good game design for pure magic users to one that has no more excuses for it.

EXTENDED COMPANION/COLLEGE QUESTLINES!

First and foremost, have DLC packs that extend the Companions and College of Winterhold questlines that focus on you being the Harbinger and Arch-Mage. No fetching quests, I want a big powerful ending that is an extreme step-up from killing a spirit wolf or some schmuck Altmer.

Companions - As the new Harbinger, you can induct other warrior-class NPCs into the Companions so they can earn money for you. Of course they can become followers, but they should be able to be sent out to do things for you as well.

The questline could involve Hircine and the Curse, as Kodlak rebelled against his fate and effectively robbed a Daedric Lord of a soul and potentially 3 others (You, Vilkas, and Farkas). This DLC could have you travel to Solstheim in order to take up a contract, but it turns out that Hircine has tricked you and you must find a way to escape the island, all the while accompanied by your Companions.

Once the questline is complete, you gain control of a headquarters where you can station the Companions at so they can operate throughout Tamriel (as an Island will have a port anyway in order to travel to other places). The entire island is filled with mythical creatures, including were-beasts (boars, bears, wolves, etc. although I know boars are exclusive to High Rock, Daedric Princes are capable of anything just about) and unicorns that you can hunt down. Perks (like Ancient Knowledge, in the Active Effects bar) could include better beast form related things, animal domination, beast roar that makes enemies flee (a human form version, comparable to a Shout or the Nord racial ability).

This I think is a good idea as it provides a nostalgia factor while incorporating that with the elements of Skyrim. The questline should be interesting (as the original Companions questline was), but it should have length as well (which the original lacked). I'd say at least double the length of the original.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

College - As the new Arch-Mage you can pull a Dumbledore (seems a bit cliche, but hear me out) and go visit potential magical talents in order to enroll them into the College.

The questline could expand on the Eye of Magnus and the Psijic Order, possibly a member appearing at the College with news requiring your full attention, who then teleports you to their island (which I believe is visible from Summurset Isle, so maybe we can get a glimpse of the land of the Altmer), which is open world (out to a certain point in the ocean of course).

On the Psijic's island you could be tasked with unlocking the Eye of Magnus to see what is wrong with it (as at the end of the original questline, it was malfunctioning). At the end of the questline you can become a member of the Psijic Order (though not the leader, as that is ridiculous to become the leader of a large organization after just getting there Bethesda) and there can be a teleporter linked directly to your Arch-Mage quarters at the College.

The island can hold completely new ingredients (although alchemy is a stealth skill, mages typically use it more often IMO) and there could be a vast library ten times the size of the one in the Imperial City. A book vendor there can sell you brand new spell tomes and... wait for it... Spell creation altars are reintroduced, giving you the ability to make individual spells with mixed effects such as Consuming Flame (random name) which could be like a Soul Trap spell that does fire damage. Alteration magic should be given back the spells that unlock doors as well.

This idea helps expand on the mysterious Psijic Order and allows us to pick up where we were left hanging at the end of the original questline. Again, this questline should be twice as long as the original with no "messenger boy quests" like Oblivion had and the common folk of Skyrim have.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

These questlines should be memorable and end with a bang, as in a battle with a Daedric Lord (not Jyggalag, Prince of Pushovers) or clashing with the Thalmor for control over the Psijic's island (as one member said the Thalmor hate that they possess great power that they can't have). Epic endings and enthralling quests that make you remember and say "Man, I wish I could do that again."

Thank you for anyone that took the time to read this. Private Message me with improvements if you want or simply quote it and reply.

EDIT: Additional ideas

BLACKREACH

Further beneath Blackreach, the capital Dwemer city (The size of Imperial city and deep as White Gold Tower) is virtually untouched by and the remnants of the best the Dwemer had to offer, including machinery, weapons, and even information on how they disappeared. You could turn this underground fortress into a lair. Basically a much larger, prettier, and more interactive Battlehorn Castle. A lift hidden within the Throat of the World and only accessible via having exited the city using the lift. The city/fortress would include multiple shopkeepers of each kind. There would be veins of ore throughout the tunnels connecting each district, which include Housing district, Merchant district (where you can pay merchants above ground to move down there or representatives of each shop on the surface sell from the stalls), Temple district (where shrines to either the Divines or the Daedric Princes could be placed, depending on whichever one you desire), Palace District, and Guard District. For all of the peopel that want Dovahkiin to rise to power, this could become your miniature kingdom, where your word is law and you have personal guards. The only punishment for crimes you commit against people is that eventually people will get sick of you and leave unless you are good (or simply not caught )

I'd like a fortress, like Battlehorn castle DLC. Hmmm, it would be nice if the other holds like Dawnstar, Winterhold actually had houses you could purchase. I hope they do something like in Oblivion with those house addons that had a little quest for each of them. Daedric realm would be awesome, but as much as i love Sheogorath i would prefer a new one like Boethiah or Peyrite or even Malacath.
what i'd really like though...is more Marriageable characters...Like Kahjiit & Woodelves.

I'm hoping they do at least 2 big expansions, that would be the greatest. I wouldn't mind visiting Morrowind again or perhaps some other zone we haven't seen yet. like Akavir :o

I would like a map expansion to the current. And special races such as Dremora, even though many have argued that it would affect the legitimacy of the elder scroll"s past games. That's understandable but many people have moded the game on their PCs to access dremora as a playable character, so why not make them acceptable to us 360 nplatformers.

If the admin of this topic will allow me i have a topic just like this called Future Hopes for DLCs; if u would post on mine, i will follow urs to increase ur credibility.

Ok so Ill just paste what I wrote previously...

In the past, Bethesda has always had some great flaws in its dlcs, and these tend to be small things that drastically impact the whole, and would have been very easy to fix.

1. Integration in the gameworld: One of the most immersion breaking things for me is when a journal entry just pops up and tells me I've "heard rumors" right when I get out of the Tutorial Dungeon.

Example- Almost all dlc's except perhaps Knights of the Nine (which had the mistake of killing off an important master trainer of restoration skill. As well as the chapel was destroyed form the very beginning)

Fix- Add some dialogue that you may hear when you go to a certain region or certain circumstances are met.

2. Game Balance: Oftentimes in advertising in a Dlc, one of the selling points is powerful new weapons and armor, as well as new enemies to fight. Oftentimes, these are incredibly overpowered and that impacts the game drastically, for it removes any need to aquire new gear and makes you invincible. The thing with overpowered enemies is that in skyrim the difficulty doesn't really make the game more challenging as much as it makes it tedious.
This has the effect of making the game become very stale as the challenge and its related satisfaction is nonexistent, and it turns into a chore simulator.

Example: All of them except perhaps the Orrery, Spell Tomes, and Zeta. (The Orrery actually broke a certain quest in the mages guild, as well as directly contradicting it.) The worst example was probably fallout 3 dlc: Anchorage gave you an unbreakable version of the best and hardest to find armor in the game, Pitt gave you an overpowered melee weapon, Broken Steel pretty much destroyed any balance from the perks, and has too many game breaking features for me to mention. Point lookout's enemies were insanely tedious to kill, having huge health bars and an insane amount of extra unblockable damage per hit.

Fix- Why not introduce new weapons, armor, and enemies that actually harness new gameplay, instead of being overpowered.

3. Game Design: In ES/Fallout 3, what makes the game fun is how you have freedom, in the past, especially fallout 3, the dlcs force you to do one thing, usually combat, which by itself is not very well designed in the first place, the most succesful dlc's have been the ones where they give you an open world and allow you to explore it, with the choice of how you approach different situations, be it stealth, magick, melee, or archery. Those linear combat dlc's that bethesda seems so fond of completely defy the open-endedness of such a game. A good Dlc should stick to the games strengths, not its weaknesses.

Examples: Anchorage, Zeta, Broken Steel, Kotn to an extent.

Fix- Play to the game's strengths, with an open world where you have exploration, choice, and freedom.

If there's another land we can go to, whether its another province, island, or daedric realm, I hope there are houses to buy, people to marry, and different items to craft with.

Something that would be great : that the finishing moves need a conscious and voluntary move to trigger. It would allow the more pacific players who are reluctant killers not to feel as if a wild barbarian suddenly took possession of their body and used it to feed is hunger for violence.

Also, adding finishing moves for spells would be great.

I'm pretty sure that's the ancient Falmer language, from back before they devolved into what they are today. And that's their written language.

Though I don't recall any indication that they can't talk (though they never do in the game), I'd be fairly certain that they're not writing any more stuff down.

I have high hopes for the upcoming DLC's.
The Skyrim factions and main story are my least favorite out of the latest 3 TES games. So i am hoping for new factions. Perhaps i can finally do some quests for the Blades? i mean i already brought them all my good followers thinking they would then give me a mission or something...
I would also enjoy more Thalmor rebellion quest, maybe this is what the Blades can be all about?
I would also enjoy more "good" factions as some one here wrote. Some kind of knight order maybe? no idea.

I am not sure. As i was exploring Blackreach i found a group of humans held and enslaved by the Falmer. Before they noticed me they seemed to have a pretty organized routine. Maybe they are just misunderstood and are actually intelligent?

My only request is that they are Karma neutral with both a bad and good way to do things. I don't want to pay for a DLC that requires me to slaughter everyone in cold blood since I don't play an evil character.

release two dlc, one exspansion to another provence or realm and one that just fleshs out the game world, houseing, spells and weapons 'imported', the dragons/war could have activated new enemys. A mini campagn to put the thalmer of the back foot in skyrim would be good imo, would allow a reason for new imported weapons and the re hash of spell making, due to thalmor law contoling it previously or some bull.

I would really live to see changes in patchs too, would it be too much to add a little here and there, not just fix stuff.

There are a few spesific thing id like to see.
I would like to see smithed gear degrade with use, back to standard, and re enchanting of items, with the addition of traders offering services not just goods. Horse armour and saddle bags(no joke!) would add customisation to horses, and bags would add a storage capasity. Oh and please make horses not go after stuff attacking it like a crazed, makes me not want a horse. That and not being able stable your horse. I dont want my horses poping up everytime not always fitting to have your certain horse appear when traveling randomly.
Dogs! Make dogs pets not hirlings. I want it in/at my home not having to rehire the damn thing if im gone for to long(hell the wife doesnt run off, i have got my eye on the housecarl tho)

The games very good and more of thay imo is better than anything else. I have liked all thr dlc ive play from mw ob fo nv but i feel even tho some of the vistiks (like the shivering ilse) were amazing, the full fleashing out and substaining of the main game, adding replayablity to that gane is what id really like to see.
