Magic is ranged you know.
You can't use magic on horseback though, melee and bow only.

No but I wasn't looking for them. Some of the video has less than preferable framerates because recording stresses my tiny processor a lot. :P

Thanks! BTW, in the patch notes it says "Optimizations and crash fixes for data leaks". That's in addition to the usual "General stability and memory optimizations". What does it mean? It's the first time i've seen it in any of the patch notes.

It's evident now that Bethesda clearly doesn't give a hoot about magic users. They dislike magic and don't want people using it, so not only do they screw it up, they leave out mounted combat for magic. I get the hint Bethesda. You want me to be a warrior.
Or they couldn't get it to work right, and they wanted to release melee/ranged mounted combat to us instead of holding the entire thing off just to add magic...

But hey, if you don't like it, then I guess you just can't use mounted combat at all. That's clearly what you want.

(PS we may want to gather in all one http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1376250-update-16-has-mounted-combat/... We don't need like 4 :P)

They've said this in many patches. It could mean anything. Memory/data leaks are where things don't clean up properly and it builds up, possibly in your ram, eventually causing the game to crash. It just means that the game will run better and wont crash as often.

oh, ok  ...

like with 1.4 I guess everyone should try to test their framerate with Fraps with the last update vs. the 1.6 update to confirm then?

Hey, you never know. Supposedly we're getting crossbows back in the DLC, and we got mounted combat, which I honestly never thought they'd do. There hasn't been mounted combat since Daggerfall. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Thanks! It's https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/384895_325061254182058_100000345581677_1089630_1197018832_n.jpg

It's not in the 1.5 notes.

Ranged combat on horses, sounds pretty good!

I'm most happy that they fixed the big damage though, its ridiculous the way it is after 1.5.

yeah, that's why I was wondering if there was any performance improvements, as a repeat of 1.4 (minus the bugs) would be incredible.

Are you on PS3? I heard 1.4 benefited that version the most.

Daggerfall had mounted combat i think.

I was referring to Oblivion, Morrowind removed horses and kind of rebooted things in a sense.

Daggerfall had mounted combat, but horseback wasn't much of a thing, it made you taller, faster and put a huge great sprite in front of you. The combat was mostly a side effect of that.

hmm, nah I'm on PC, but the improvements were still noticeable on that platform too (a lot less stuttering, a more stable framerate, ESPECIALLY in Whiterun/towns).
