Update 1.6 has mounted combat!

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:05 am

Wow! Now that was unexpected! Despite what little problems i may have with Skyrim, i have to applaud Bethesda for offering this kind of support this long after release :goodjob:

I doubt i'll use this feature, but i am still impressed that they include this in a patch.

hmm, that might be kind of impractical with third-person horse combat.

maybe if it was first-person...but alas.

Staves are just charged AoE arrows essentially, same with magic. If anything, archery would be more impractical.

yeah, but I mean stuff such as LB+RB (or left mouse and right mouse depending on the platform) which would require the use of both triggers.

though I haven't tried the update for myself, so I don't even know if dual-wielding is available or not.

Funny bug I seem to be getting, every time I jump with a horse, or make it kick up by jumping and not moving, I seem to go backwards instead of forwards. Several feet too XD. I just jumped backwards from Riverwood halfway to Whiterun... anyone else getting this?

They may add staves in before release. Remember this is a rough beta release. I'm sure staves will make it in, and maaaybe magic at some point.

Couple of issues (may be installed mod related to beta patch). Anyone lose their health/stamina bars while fighting from horseback? No health/stamina on enemies either. Also, a giant seemed to have a strange glow to it.

Daggerfall had mounted combat i think.
Yeah but riding a horse in Daggerfall involved playing a different footstep sound and the occassional horse sounds, increasing the walking speed, and having a horse head graphic cover up part of the screen.

Not I. I've had no issues with the new patch yet. Mounted combat appears to work as intended, and nothing is disappearing or glowing weird.

I've had something similar to that happen to me before, so it might not be from the patch. My horse would scoot around a bit whenever it reared and then launch itself a few feet into the air when it would hit an obstacle. Eventually ended up killing itself.... :/

Frankly i wasn't expecting a patch before Dawnguard's release, and i expected it to just mostly prepare the game for it. But now it has mounted combat, fixed the Nirnroot glow bug, and apprently the navmesh bug too. Guess they showed me

When 1.6 leaves Beta. Which is to say, we have the faintest idea.

We don't know. PC doesn't even 'Have it' yet. It's a Beta, which most people don't want to (And shouldn't) play legitimately on.

I would assume it will be out sometime next week for PC, and that week or the week after for console. Depending on how much they changed and continue fixing in this version.

A week after 1.6 leaves beta more like, if previous signs are correct. There's the console manufacturers certification process to go trough. And i wouldn't be surprised if this patch is in beta for a couple weeks too.
