as a matter of fact, the ability to mod weapons in fallout new vegas came from a mod created for fallout 3

The developers could learn a thing or two from some of the modders on Nexus...it might not always be lore friendly but some ideas they have are pure awesomeness

Well actually, Obsidian did learn some things from modders and even implemented them into FNV.

The main one being the Weapon Mod system, from WMK for Fallout 3.

Edit: Darn it. 'd

That's odd, usually the people on those forums riot when something is overdue. I remember during the Christmas Sales, Steam didn't update the new deals on time and all of the sudden there were dozens of threads screaming at Steam for not updating the new deals (which it did 5 minutes later). Those forums are known for impatience, I'm surprised too that there aren't more people raging at Steam over this.

That's probably most flame potential people have given up since HH was already heavily overdue thanks to Bethsidian.

It only applies to sales or Valve-developed games from what I can tell. A prime example would be Portal 2's pre-load / release event.
