What factions are you most allied with? (Part 2)

Post » Sat Jun 18, 2011 10:03 pm

I've seen you post this exact same nonsense under your other handle.
The legion are bent on conquest.
Caesar wants new vegas as the jewel in his desert crown, there is no indication that any change is bound to happen, at all.
Tbh Caesar is more like Genghis Khan of the mongols than Augustus Caesar.

You have not talked to Caesar recently, have you? Thesis and antithesis my friend.

Which he intends to happen after he destroys the entire ncr, not capture new vegas, which they simply cannot do I'm afraid.
Perhaps it is YOU that needs to go back and talk to Caesar..

You have to admit though if you choose to have them allign against the legion at the end the BoS and the Enclave curb stomp the little legionaries far more effectively than the ncr grunts do ;)

Yeah yeah you don't have to remind me ;)

Hmm? The ncr exiled the fota? Since when?
Just thought I'd mention that the next patch, they fixed the NCR/FOTA alliance bug, so ya, the NCR are able to literally negotiate an alliance with everyone short of gangers, raiders, deathclaws, and legion.

Your superior training didn't really get you very far at Helios did it? Actually got you stuck hiding in a bunker for what, three years now? I'm not really sure.

Meh, communism, facism, any kind of government control where you aren't free really all looks the same to me.

Funny, because technically, even in the US we don't truly free. Can we vote for elected officials? Yes, but have you ever noticed how they more often than not vote the opposite of what the people they are representing want? Face it. The NCR is a lie, a false democracy. I don't see it being called the New California Democracy. :spotted owl:

Haha. I dig the NCR man. They are a close second to the BoS for me. I have a lot of fun with my Ranger Vet character.

More free than anywhere else, or almost anywhere else anyway that's for sure. And I don't see how the NCR is a lie, they really don't try to hide their intentions to anybody unless you can give me a example I can't think of.

Truth be told man I love the Brotherhood too, there's just something about them thats iconic to Fallout. That's why I always create a truce between them and the NCR when I play a ranger character.

Its not a lie like The Enclave 'didnt' exist Pre-War. It's a lie in the sense tht it's actions countermand the very ideals they claim to spread. It's politicians are nothing more than puppets for wealthy brahmin barons. The NCR preaches racial equality, yet there seems to be alot of Super Mutant forcing out from NCR territory, Jacobstown and it's linked quest are an example of this. It's modus operandi is the FORCED expansion and consumption of peoples land. 'You're a farmer who barely makes it day to day to survive? What's that you say? You 'don't want to be annexed'? I don't remember giving you a CHOICE sir.' Sounds no different than the Legion. AND they tax the crap out of settlements. Plus, I can't forgive they're underhanded snake methods. Vault City, the cold blooded political assassination of Mr. House, the treatment of nonhumans while wearing a holier than though face.

Seriously, you pompously tote about the NCR's 'glorious expansion' yet you seem to gloss over their faults.

But don't worry. If they're like the Pre-War government, I can't wait till they start detaining certian races on little more than paranoid racism. :D

When have I ever seriously touted anything about the NCR expanding? I do support the Mojave campaign but they should have put more troopers into it with more experience than the ones that are there now. And I never gloss over their faults either, I'm usually the first one to admit to them.

Oh and Moore didn't order a "political assassination" on House either, she ordered it because she had intelligence that he was planning to make a move at the dam when the Legion attacked, and guess what, she was right.

Your argument was very good until the race card was pulled. I don''t think the NCR are racists, Col. Shu is asian btw. They may hate butt-ugly muties, but honestly, who doesn't? At least they let their rangers at echo, who turned into ghouls, still serve.

Oh and Moore didn't order a "political assassination" on House either, she ordered it because she had intelligence that he was planning to make a move at the dam when the Legion attacked, and guess what, she was right.

The House assasination comfirmed Mr. House's fears. He said the NCR was looking for any excuse to get rid of him. I highly doubt they were going after house solely because his securitrons were scouting.

And they also supplied Dixon the drug dealer with cheap chems to "keep freeside down" because they were resisting annexation. The basic doctrine is to prevent progress in Freeside so that it does not become a "contagious example" which is essentially the internal version of the non fiction "domino theory." Any empire knows that you cannot accept "successful defiance." That's dangerous. People who can free themselves against all the odds are sure to inspire others. If a small poor and independant settlement can begin to improve the living standards of it's people, NCR citizens in other places will begin to ask: "why not us?" Then "the infection would sweep through the continent" and the whole system of domination would unravel.

Yes, the parallels to reality are striking. The devs really did their homework. That's all Im gonna say.

NCR was the only thing standing between cl and House being on a cross. I NCR wanted to infiltrate they would have done it long ago.

If House would have talked to NCR they may have made him a person of extreme power in NCR. House being pre war, and NCR striving for old world values of freedom and democracy would have made a great team. House may have been elected as NCR president after a short time of showing off his extensive knowledge of everything.

His paranoia and reclusiveness stopped any chance of that from happening. He then would have the means to help the US wastes.

Caesar's Legion was the only thing that actually kept the NCR from engaging in a war with Mr. House for control over the strip.

Not exactly, the ncr were the only thing stopping the cl from ruining new vegas, but they couldn't even get through one set of his defences at the fort, they ain't never getting to his hibernation chamber, same goes for ncr.
In fact the only ones I could imagine ever bypassing his insane defence (physical defense, not securitrons) are the Enclave or possibly the BoS. Even then after a loooong time of trial and error/research.

Let me break this down.

NCR = Stopping Caesar's Legion from taking over the Strip and killing Mr. House.

Caesar's Legion = Stopping the NCR from killing Mr. House and also taking the strip.

Yeah, just ignore my post. Good idea.

Both of them could only negate House's influence, they couldn't kill him.

I like House best of the three for one simple fact:

He's NOT greedy. The NCR will continue to expand no matter what. Caesar's Legion will continue to expand no matter what. House? House just wants Vegas and the Mojave. Then he's happy. House doesn't any more right to bully the locals into following his rules or the right to annex the Kings more than anyone else does, but at least with House, there's a limit. If the entire world could be made up of smaller communities with different lifestyles and rules that people actively got to choose from, then the only issue would be actually travel to a community that suits you or out of one that does not. No, he doesn't have the right to say "my way or get out," but let's face it, EVERY civilization does this. The only alternative is anarchy, and the problem with anarchy is it's just inviting a new group to take over, and it's not sure how all these independent groups would be able to defend New Vegas if the NCR or the Legion returned. We don't know how long Yes Man will be offline for, and until his return, the Securitrons can only carry out their task of securing the strip; they can't do anything else.

I have a feeling that Independent Vegas will be the canon ending, but I sorta hope they choose House instead. It'd be interesting to have such a powerful, wise and independent "country" in the post-apocalyptic world.

Nope cl was not in the picture when NCR got there, or cl would already have control of mw not NCR. Do you thing they showed up during the same week. House tell about the begining and cl is not mentioned. He only speaks of himself and NCR. He never gave them a chance to even see all the knowledge that he must of had.

Even when CL did show up a team of rangers, about 12 troopers and some way to blast into the 38 is all it would take.

NCR would not have to put much into killing mkl securitrons. MKlls are really not that hard. vet rangers are harder to kill than a mkll.

Though the mklls do put out way more fire and missles than a vet ranger can. It would be a great battle for NPC wars.

Anyway the mkll were not there until the courier.

The only thing stopping the NCR from taking House out is that they can't waste the troops to do it (Although their victory would be certain)

And the only thing stopping The Legion is that they haven't won over the NCR (Yet.......)

The NCR had intentions of taking over the Strip but BOOM, in came the Legion and then they suddenly realize that they can't spare hundreds of troops on that.
