So, where exactly does BGS get off?..

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:14 am

When was this information released has it even been if so can I have a link? Thanks.

This was mentioned several times by todd howard, both before Skyrim was released and by the time Dawnguard was announced, although now when I search Dawnguard, I only seem to stumble onto sites with the trailer.

Here is the closest thing I could find. He says it will be more substantial than FO3, http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/11/skyrim-dlc/

Ah I thought there might have been new information on the matter sorry for the confusion, I also looked it up and that is all I can find as well.

I remember Todd said there would be around two to three expansion pack add ons with a twenty to thirty dollar price tag and there would be smaller content in between the major expansion pack releases.

Yeah thanks for the link I remember reading that I just thought there might have been something more recent and concrete since Dawnguards looming summer release maybe we will have something more conclusive after E3.

With this 1600 MSP [censored]? We waited 8 months just to get word of any info whatsoever..

Get this amazing sneak peak trailer, which made me extremely, EXTREMELY excited! Then I happen to go over to the "Details" about the video and it states just that.

I myself haven't personally been here in a long, long time because my Laptop recently died on me. But once I saw this atrocity.. I had to say something.

So, why exactly are we paying DOUBLE what we normally do for your add-ons? I'm hella curious...

Stop being a whiny little [censored]. I would have gladly paid 100 dollars for Skyrim, and if anything, they should be charging MORE for Dawnguard. Do you realize how much work goes into their games? You will likely get hundreds of hours from this one expansion alone. Go buy a hundred hours of movies brand new and tell me how much it costs.

In other words; shut up, Nancy.

Im sure there was, but you would have had to ask me at least 1 day before the trailer came out. Now, any google search with dawnguard in the title will reveal several pages of links with nothing but the video, not matter what other words you include with the search. PS There will be three dlc, the first 2 are timed exclusive, meaning there must be at least one after that, so there will be 3. Also, the second one is probably called hearthfire, and I heard a rumour that the last will be called Riders of Hamerfell. Although that last one I heard once, and it probably is not true

Thank you for searching and reminding me about the timed exclusives it would be awesome if we got four instead of three.:) That is pushing it I know. I hope that the new Hearthfire is nor based from necromancers we have covered that trail in Oblivion the mages guild had a lengthy quest line on it. I think the Riders of Hammerfell is speculative at best we have bot even had the release of the first add on yet.

I don't know, I think 2 supernatural monsters would be kinda lame, so it should focus on something different. Maybe one with a daedric realm, shivering isles redux (not mehrunes or sheogorath, as we just saw those and want something new), and a politically motivated one, tribunal redux, an epic five way battle between the forsworn, stormcloaks, imperials, alkir, and thalmor.

Probably because of money. They have seen how Skyrim was successful this year. So they will try it again and make add-ons double price to see if they land again.

But i don't really care. Hell, they could put it for 60 and i will buy it, because i know Bethesda always makes cool DLC. Especially for Elder Scrolls.

This isn't a [censored] CoD map-pack dude. This is basicly a medium sized expansion pack, which will probably (if I know beth well enough) add at least 35 hours of playtime. Even more if you do everything

No one is talking about COD maps. So chill out dude. Anyways. We still don't know really where this DLC will take place. Could be just be a little area around Riften with 2 Castles for all we know. One for the Dawnguard and Vampires. Or .. it could be nothing just added content to the Skyrim map. Just like Fighter's Stronghold was for Oblivion.

Also i don't if you noticed but there really isn't any changes to the landscape. Like you still see the same grass, trees etc. The same. I was expecting at least something like Shivering Isles. Like big mushrooms or something different you know.

Yeah, it seems quite pricey for a DLC. Hopefully it will be of considerable size.

Things around $20:

case of Bud Light
a couple trips through the drive through fast food joints
movie, popcorn and a soda
Large Marios pizza

It's called perspective. For all the entertainment I get from their games, I feel like I'm totally ripping them off for what they ask.

Obviously, did anyone see how big each castle looks? Clearly these have to be a far ways away and if you can get to both by walking imagine how big the area is..
Just a friendly reminder - map size is not equal to quality game.

I would rather see a political one with the focus on some kind of political intrigue or conspiracy or something with some new land to explore or a landmass or something like that. A Daedric tell might be great especially with a landmass of some kind and expanded Daedra within the game, it would be great to see Azuras or Nocturnals from.

All I have to say is if it's costing us that much, this map better be bigger then Skyrims. NO LIE.

From what i've seen so far it might be HALF the size of Skyrim. I just don't get it.. I imagined ppl would be furious with rage right about now after seeing that (almost like me).

Like I said, map better be bigger then Skyrims or you better have me in Dawnguard for AT LEAST 200 hrs. (very minimal I'll accept)
This looks like Left 4 Dead 2 syndrome...in reverse.

You'll be learning plenty more on Dawnguard next week, and Todd will be talking about how big the game is.

To compare with Oblivion: it's halfway in price between Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, so I'd assume it would be about halfway in-between content wise. Two extended quest lines (for the Dawnguard and the Vampires) plus some added real estate (two castles plus at least part of a plane of oblivion confirmed) for $20 USD sounds about right.
i look at it as more like, Skyrim is bad ass so its gonna be slightly more than the middle ground. Something beneath SI but still very large.

I love this post! You have a good perspective...I too, feel like I'm the one ripping them off for all the hundreds of hours of enjoyment I've gotten from Skyrim. Not only the gameplay but the music/ soundtrack as well.

And Bethesda employees have to eat, too. I understand that $20 for vampire DLC bites for some people, but it's not like Bethesda can continue to expand upon their game for free, which they already do by adding in new content like horse combat in patches for free.
