Which faction do you lean towards most?

If the s hits the fan, our instincts will still know what to do.

If its anything like the Fallout games, half of us are apparently just going to run around killing everyone. :D

I'm not 'waving the banner of the romans' at all. I I believe a post-apoc setting will be less Wild Wasteland, and more The Road, The Stand and particularly A Boy and His Dog. In a real post-apoc setting, I think Legion has the only sustainable game plan.

I have a hard time not siding with the NCR. Mr. House was all hokerrs, to me, and the Legion...ick. Having to shoot the men on the crucifixes because I couldn't save them was a hard thing to do - but could you leave them their to die in agony?

The NCR is just as grey as America's own military, past and present, because they are definitely based upon our own military history from the 1800's-early 1900's. The whole Eastward expansion is kind of a funny play on the Westward expansion, and I find it highly amusing this post-pre-American army is trying to reconquer America in a coast-to-coast domination scheme.

But I understand their methods and means, which is why I side with them. They're trying to help the world, in their slightly deluded way, and I respect that. As they say - The Legion is knocking on Hell's Gates. The NCR is here to push them in.

Those profligates deserved what was coming to them.
If I had my say I'd have someone throw brahmin and bighorner feces and urin on them as well.
And if they survive for a 4 days on the cross then I'd cut them down, feed them, make them all warm and fuzzy again and nail them to a cross again.

Dan, don't worry. I'll take out as many Legion barbarians as I can in your name, I swear. I'll paint the NCR signs with the blood of Legionaries.

I hate most of them.

Ceasar's Legion is a sixist slaver association.

NCR is a corrupt high-taxing beuracracy.

Mr. House is a tyrant.

The Brotherhood of Steel are just tech loving basemant dwellers.

I like the Followers though.

SO in summary, I trust myself.

Yes. Survival of the species is paramount. You are able to ask that question now because hundreds of years ago the Romans united humanity by the sword, THEN during the ensuing peace supported democracy and the arts. And they only pulled it off because first the Greeks kicked ass, THEN supported democracy and the arts.

Humanity is, by definition, the mental filter and moral compass of the majority of humanity.

Hah, I like you. You have more perspective than most.

However, I must disagree with your assertion that survival of the species is paramount. Survival of the individual and his ideals is key.

I was a BoS fan in FO3 simply because they weren't the actual BoS (using tech for the people instead of taking tech from the people). With the BoS in FNV being your run-of-the-mill tech salvagers that don't care for anything but their toys, I've reluctantly steered clear (although Paladin has such a nice ring on your character).

Lovin' the Kings, and not just for the haircuts. It's Las Vegas and you gotta love Elvis. Beyond that, I'm digging the fact that factions are hard to love or hate for a number of reasons. I'm always thinking through my choices because I don't want the regular people getting screwed over. Guess that rules out the legion and raider scum, but the rest is up for grabs.

I'd say the NCR was the most fun, has the most quests ranging from taking back Towns that the Legion has attacked as well as assassinating raider leaders. I dig the Ranger Veteran armor as well and tried to model myself after the the Sniper on the Vegas sign in the beginning cinematic. However I also gotta say as a player of Fallout 3 that my heart leaned more towards the BoS and I'm saddened by their secondary role in the game. I always did have the hots for Sara Lyons :P.

P.S. assaulting NCR positions with Veronica and the courier in Power Armor = a good time.

Had to go with the NCR

The Brotherhood of Steel (California Faction) is much too arrogant and afflicted with tunnel vision. They are more like Caesar's Legion than most would care to admit. Now the Washington, DC Faction, which the PC has a chance to help reshape in FO3 is another matter.

The world may have been sent hurtling back into the Dark Ages but there was barely a justifiable case for Roman domination the first time (and that was almost completely negated by the Crusades and the destruction of Alexandria.) There is certainly none as long as there remains any memory of the pre-apocalyptic world.

Legion no thanks, just a bit too far gone for me to get any warmth from them. I can be evil in other ways!

Boomers have a nice middle ground, generally don't bother anyone else and don't expect to be bothered themselves... they seem ok

Khans have been through a lot and are still alive and kicking, definitely leaning towards them as an underdog

Safe bet might be NCR, if only they would patch up their differences with BOS

Technically NCR, but I would see the game as me and my followers as a separate faction, so hypothetically myself.

Followers would be second, then probably BoS.

Never Legion, though. Bunch of hypocritical jackasses who enslave and [censored] each other.

I picked NCR, but it's tied with Caesar.

I would've put Remnants, if it were on there. Enclave, weak or not, is always the best.

I think the Legion is where i lean towards most of the time. I like the idea of a Roman styled empire. They also rewards me for my actions the best (except for independent or maybe house (haven't done his ending yet) the legion mints a coin in my honor and all I get from NCR is a Medal and its only a Civillian on too not even a Military.

Did you guys not take the history lesson from the Boomers? They want to kill everybody that's not them, that's what the plane is for.

Well honestly the Boomers seemed more like savages to me, I honestly wish i did'nt have to do their mission.

If i did'nt, I would have killed them for taking my Rexie from me!

All political and social movements have their positives and negatives.

I tend to lean towards the NCR,Brotherhood, and the Apostles.

The NCR because its base ideals are worthy though at this point they have grown strong and expansionist enough to be viewed as a bully.

The Brotherhood because they have a strong ethos and understanding of tech but they are isolationist.

The Apostles because their goals are worthy but they come across as bright eyed and naive.

If you could combine these 3 groups strongpoints..Law and order along with safety,Technoligical expertise and a strong ethic, and caring and compassion then you would have the perfect faction.

I would call that faction the Utopians because such a faction is a pipe dream.

Even if such a faction were to exist human nature, both on an individual and collective scale, being what it is cracks would appear in it also.

Absolutely, 100% the kings. For some reason I had a blast doing those missions (even though they were short and involved very little combat). I thought the King was a terrific character and I could sympathize with his feelings about Rex. And their Uniforms rock. Love the 60's greaser look!

If you want to look for culture, advances in philosophy, mathematics and the arts, then you'll have to look to the ancient Greeks. For Romans, these subjects were only useful as a means to an end; they never seem to have developed the sort of curiousity that the Greeks had for them. Greek scientists were inventors, Romans were more pragmatic, and even after they had conquered Greece gladly left these subjects to the Greeks. Obviously Roman authors also produced some great works, but they were always in the service of glorifying the power of Rome. To the Romans, the Greeks were seen as effaminate men, because they busied themselves so with subjects that seemed to have no practical use to them.

A core of elected government based on democratic ideals, holding off and subjugating their barbarian neighbors with the worlds best military. A military that took in and sold slaves, eschewed women for man-love, and brainwashed its soldiers into absolute love and devotion for the army. Are we talking about Rome or Sparta here?

Roads, police, fire-fighters, support for religious freedom, and two centuries of peace: all of these were the result of the romans being right bastards to everyone not roman.

I wish the Shi were in this game because I really like them. Since they're not in the game, I would pick Mr. House, he probably could have prevented the Great War or at least greatly minimized its effects if he had more time to prepare. He has the technology and knowledge to save the wasteland from going down the same path as the old world.

The thing that bugs me the most is that the general public thing NCR are ''good and ''better' than the Legion. When in fact they are exactly the same. Both groups just kill anybody who doesn't agree with their rules. luckily NCR dont have many rules and/or dont bother enforcing them as well as the Legion!

Er.. yeah, except the NCR has due process and rule of law. The Legion's law is the will of an old crackpot with a brain tumor, and a bunch of barely reformed raiders. The NCR doesn't keep slaves, condone torture, or reject advancement. Caesar's Legion is a full stop for the progress of humanity as a whole, considering their disdain for technology and modern medicine*. The NCR does some really shady things and is full of corruption and inefficiency, but that doesn't make the two comparable. I think House is the best choice, but saying the NCR and the Legion are the same is just worthy of an epic facepalm.

*Except when Caesar needs it. The hypocritical tool.

Seeing as how you didn't include "none" or "other" I suppose I'll go for the Boomers, they remind me of the Enclave.
