Personally? NCR has the right idea, just needs a kick in the pants. Otherwise I believe they have what's needed to get an organized society going once more in the wasteland. Sure, they're pushy, over extended, and tend to be a bit imperialistic, however, they do allow freedoms within their borders that you can't really afford anywhere else.
Now why NOT the others? (FYI, this is my opinion. Apologies if it offends anyone.)
Caesar's Legion - Sorry, I can never support a society that works on slavery. In my ethics and in my gutt, it is wrong, no matter how you angle it. What's that phrase? "The pathway to hell is paved with good intentions".
Robert House - If you ever played Bioshock, I feel like I was talking to Andrew Ryan. It's an empire built on greed and self interest. True, it's amiable to control and bring together a strong a strong community, but you're isolating yourself from the world and others, only intending to force or tempt them to your way and only your way, all others can rot. In a time where fellow man needs to help each other, this is not what we need.
Boomers - Yeah, I empathize with their issues and understand why they did this, however again, isolating yourself is not the answer. In their case they became arrogant and ignorant, and cared only for what they thought. I admire their dream, but I don't admire their means.
Brotherhood of Steel - For the most part, BoS keeps rubbing me the wrong way. I understand they want to keep people from making the same mistakes they made to make the world as it is now, but the means to this end are unacceptable. Besides, the whole knighthood drift their pulling puts me off. Save the honor, chivalry, and courage for those who these terms are meant for ... those who help their fellow man. As far as I care, they're just guys in powersuits gathering technology to stop the bomb from dropping again. As far as humanity is concerned, they could just die and rot, letting them be the only people on earth. Wrong answer. (I admit, there's a few good apples among them, if the BoS in the east coast had proven anything. More like THOSE guys, and I may change my mind.)
Followers of the Apocalypse - If you ask me, they get a bad rap from what Caesar did and from government officials. I'll give them my support as people who look to helping what's left of humanity, restoring our cultivating skills, and restoring some semblance of humanity in a post-apocalyptic world. My only issue with them is while I admire what they do, they're not quite what I would see to govern a nation or a region. Leave them to do what they do best, but I don't think they have what it takes to lead.
Great Khans - Meh, feels to me like a biker gang with a historic bent. They're wild and violent most of the time, it's their culture. Not something I would support, but not something I would look into for it's cultural aspect.
Kings - It's a gang, mostly benevolent gang, but still a gang. They have my support in what they do most of the time, but their insisted issues with NCR seem to break that image. I was a little disappointed, now knowing what the Kings are an do.
Powder Gangers - Convicts. Thugs. Criminals. What's to support? Most of them were near release too for their time. Way to blow your chance at true freedom guys.
Bright Brotherhood - Uh, okay, another cult ... but at least it's not another Doomsday Cult. I'll give them credit to their dedication to their cause, and hey, who am I to judge their faiths? Seem harmless enough.
Gun Runners - Profiteers. Honest and independent, but profiteers. But, hey, someone's gotta make the iron, no?
Jackals - Cannon fodder. Criminal, wild, cannon fodder.
State of Utolbitha - I state what I said when I first heard of it ... "WTF?"
Crimson Caravan - Again, profiteers. A necessity, though, the trade has benefited many out in the wasteland.
White Glove Society - No comment.
Omerta - Gangsters and mobsters, in a sense, scum.
Chairmen - Part of house's little ring. Same as I said for house, however, perhaps eluding to dogs on a leash... wild dogs.
Van Graffs - Corperation with an agenda and a bad ethic code. Shame they're the best energy weapon vendors.
Vipers - See Jackals.
