Which faction do you lean towards most?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:47 pm

I'm going to make the assumption that the people who genuinely like the Legion are men.....

They make great enemies but how can anyone stand by what atrocities they have commited? The NCR has its rough spots, particularly at Bitter Springs, but those types of incidents are the result of miscommunication and bad leadership, not something actively enforced by NCR ideals. The Legion, on the other hand, has no problem enslaving their enemies(which would be anyone who does not subscibe to their dogma, or you know, women) and terrorizing populations.
If anyone can come up with examples of what makes NCR just as bad, fill me in as I have not played Fallout 1 or 2.

So in short:
NCR=United States of America
Legion=Al Qaeda(?)

Im still on my first play through, and personally finding that the game pushes a NCR friendly approach the strongest if you stick to the beaten path.

First time I ran into the legion they were stringing people up on crosses, killing people because they wouldn't kill etc, since my character is a 'good karma' kind of guy, I butchered the [censored] out of them and their crazy ideas. Maybe thats just what they wanted though and letting them live would have been the real punishment? Anyways....

Im planning on finishing my first playthrough as pro-NCR, rather than turning my backs on the guys who have given me so many of my guns, helped me get most of my experience, and generally seem to be trying to restore the Mojave, rather than just 'control it'. The guys at the strip are a bunch of republican fat cats looking to get rich off the poor survivors of the wastes. I'll have no problem killing Mr House when the time comes, a presidential suite might buy the love of a weaker man, but I have my [censored]shack the good folks in Novac gave me and that's as much as I need. That and my trusty Sniper rifle/ All American and a maxxed Guns skill. Time to restore some sanity.

NCR is just an extension of current crappy Kalifornia policies. Decent individuals busting their ass to support morons in govt. Legion is the only force that really has the cojones necessary to survive and thrive in a post-apocalyptic setting. As technology and civilization declines, so does equality, its a necessary part of survival. BoS has the right idea, but they also need to work on rebuilding.

The Great Khans.

They seem to be the oldest group of people in New Vegas, and all the major factions are pushing them around and end up screwing them over in the end regardless. The NCR destroyed their settlement, forced them from Bitter Springs and killed their fleeing women and children in the process, the Legion acts like their friend but the little alliance they have is just temporary until the Legion pushes out the NCR they intend to enslave the Khans and turn their women into breeding machines.

So in the name of survival it's okay to forget your humanity? You can honestly stand by crucifixtion? Or your sister and mother auctioned off to some high ranking Legion officer? I don't care about what Caesar says regarding his beliefs---enough is seen by how those beliefs are enforced.

Me and the NCR had a disagreement. I wanted all of their cool armour and weapons but they refused gave them to me for free. So i killed all of them. I dont like the legion generally.

I voted for the Kings because they're nice to me and they're cool guys.

It'd be nice if one of the DLC's allowed us a main quest path for BOS, Khans, Powder Gangers and FotA.
I have no idea how it wold unfold itself but I'd rather have more than two factions to side with.
(I don't consider myself or one really really really old guy as "factions".)

When the first Roman Emperor (Augustus, not Julius) dissolved the republic and instated the “Empire”; it was at least designed under the guise of progress and equality. The “pax ramona” (For citizens at least). The FONV “Legion” are just slavers in Halloween costumes. I kill every single one I come across.

The NCR is very imperfect, but offers some basic security, freedom and are generally inclusive and excepting of non-violent groups within their territory.

As for sympathy, FOA all day long.

Legion: Horrible slavers and slaughterers. There is no lupole. I slaughter those bastards on sight.

NCR: Complex faction. On the surface they are good, but they are corrupt and power hungry. Many good soldiers. Many bad leaders. Good potential, needs some work.

Families: The chairmen are cool, but none of them are fit for power.

BOS: Selfish, technology hogging idiots.

Boomers: There okay. I leave them alone.

Great Khans: I like them. They can be brutal, but there tough.

Fiends: No

House: Has to much power. I kill him

The Brotherhood of Steel (hence the name), they are ignorant but I always drift towards them for some reason. Or the NCR, their are actually some decent and caring people in their, though corrupt at the core. Maybe if they had a deeper story then I might have liked to work with the Omertas. And Benny and the Chairmen if he hadn't shot me in the [censored] head, and hadn't tried to screw me over again at the Tops. House has the right idea. he has alot of power but doesn't take advantage of it for the worst. The Boomers are cool, if they opened up to the world they might have been a major faction. The ones I wonder the most about are the Gun Runners, I want to know the ins and outs of their business, and be able to work with or for them.

I like the legion cause they are the more "evil" side rather than the politically correct sheltered. I just wish there was more main factions to join.

NCR is alright , I like how they play their role but I wouldn't join them.

The great khans have the nicest faction base imo.

Mr house's robots could be removed from the game for all i care , I rather see them replaced with people.

The Kings are rockin. Wish they were a main faction and more ambitious. Imagine elvis wannabes taking over CA lmao.

The Boomers. There's just something about people that say 'Hello' with Howitzers and bombs. "We haven't set off any of those atomatic bombs after we left the vault!"

Also, I wish that you could actually join factions. The only reason they even won at Hoover Dam was because of me! And what do I get? A freaking branch, the highest honor for a citizen, make me a Veteran Ranger dammit! And I'd like to join the Omertas, Gun Runners, etc. The only ones you actually can join are the Kings and the Brotherhood, and even after that they have no jobs for you, you just get your haircut and energy ammo every few days/

Idealistically: The Followers, fighting corruption (NCR) and working to help those less fortunate.

Realistically (If I was stuck in the Mojave): A toss up between House and Legion. With Legion I'd be able (hopefully) to head towards the hub of their empire less war and safety from raiders. (No alcohol though :/) However the slavery and crucifixion would rub me the wrong way. House as he would be needing more to invest in his goals, and I could put myself towards that. (Despite the rich draining caps 'tyrant' he is.)

Yes. Survival of the species is paramount. You are able to ask that question now because hundreds of years ago the Romans united humanity by the sword, THEN during the ensuing peace supported democracy and the arts. And they only pulled it off because first the Greeks kicked ass, THEN supported democracy and the arts.

Humanity is, by definition, the mental filter and moral compass of the majority of humanity.
