Who was your hardest video game boss?

To be honest, and please don't laugh, but I never got passed the final boss on Luigi's Mansion. It's like Boo Bowser or something? I just lacked the skill to beat him, I don't know what it is :(

heard complaints about the last boss in prototype, i lost everytime, and iirc there is a time limit...or he would have been way easier i remember when i finally found out what the right weapon was...turns out that its like the best weapon on the game

sephoroth...whatever the spelling is...whipped my ass in kingdom hearts one and two

Also reciantly i had to help my sister beat a certain phantom boss in oot, having just beat him a few weeks ago i just couldnt do it. i really don't know why but it took me like 10 trys, also couldn't win epna for her, my sister was pissed the only reason she even started the game was to ride a horse lol

Ghaleon from Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete.
The King Octobrain from Duke Nukem Forever...I hate him so much :banghead: !!!
King Gallagher from Super Valis IV (snes): I can only beat him on easy and then not so much---he's actally tougher then his Valis IV counterpart.

Wang from Black Belt on the Sega Master System.
Spoiler
I don't expect many to know what I'm talking out, but I considered Wang a personal rival since my childhood up until a few years ago when I finally beat him. I fought him once when I was about 5 years old. He's the final boss of Black Belt and it is a pain in the ass to get all the way to him. I was sweating bullets and so on-edge the first time I got to him. I got him down to one tick of life left so that one hit should've killed him. I hit him like two more times. He didn't die. Then he killed me. I was so pissed, and I could never get back to him. He just mocked me silently for years and years after that.

I finally went back and played it. I beat Wang. Turns out you could only beat him with a standing punch to the face, the hardest and most unsafe move to hit him with. What a punk.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wheXtxlG71w#t=44s
Spoiler
Supposedly she got nerfed or something? But before the nerf, she was nearly impossible. Just look at that mess. Projectiles everywhere, and that go-into-the-corner trick you see in the video does NOT work every time.

Sigma from Mega Man X
Spoiler
What a jerk. I remember coming home from school for like a week or two and trying to beat Sigma. His wall jumps in his first form totally threw me off, and his second form was just plain unfair. I never knew about the hanging-on-the-edge-of-the-claw trick, and I still think it's way too cheap to do to this day. I remember back then I'd need all 4 sub tanks to beat Sigma, now I can beat him without taking damage.

Gate from Mega Man X6
Spoiler
MMX6 in general was a freaking travesty. I had to meticulously plan every step I took in that game just so I could get X equipped with the exact armor I wanted and get everything working right just to make it to Gate, and then I'd get there and just die over and over. He's such a jerk. You really have to know what you're doing to beat him. To this day, I still struggle with him sometimes.

Spoiler
Evrae, Jecht and Yunalesca
from Final Fantasy X
Spoiler
Yunalesca is a fun and clever fight, but damn is she hard. She has two instant death moves, one that will kill every "living" member of the party, and one that will kill every "zombie" member of the party. You have to force some party members to be zombies and some to not be zombies just to avoid a wipe. Planning is essential. With Jecht, I guess I just wasn't leveled up properly. He took me forever to beat. I had been able to beat every boss in FFX without having to grind, but I had to with Jecht. Once Yuna got Holy, it was much easier.

Evrae, on the other hand, is a different story. He's just...ridiculous. I have never had a good fight with him. Every single time I fight him, it ends with me bringing out Rikku and having her throw all of my money at him in order to kill him. Sad but true. This guy just has my number.

Smithy from Super Mario RPG
Spoiler
I never owned SMRPG as a kid, but I'd rent it from the video store on the weekends constantly. I'm sure we spent way more money renting it than we would have just buying the damn game, but that's what happened. It took me several weekends of battling Smithy before I managed to defeat him. SMRPG was also my first RPG of this style, so I wasn't very good at it and I didn't really understand how to grind or level efficiently, so it was a lot harder for me than it is now.

I found the last boss from Rogue Galaxy to be a pain. Not really out of pure difficulty, but the thing could one hit kill me and I'd have to go through like 6 other bosses to try again.

Scarecrow from Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'm talking about the last encounter. I found the spotlight part of the boss really hard, I don't know why. His rapid, unpredictable movements that he makes always kills me. Aside from that, the skeletons that he sends out to fight you are consistent and they inflict so much damage. Again, they're so constant that you can't possible counter them all, resulting in a brutal beatdown. I don't know, found him hard. His other forms were normal, not too much trouble with them, but thanks to that last boss, Scarecrow's hand was the one at the end.

The final boss of Prince of Persia: Sands of time wasn't really too hard, yet it still made me want to tear my hair out. He was incredibly fast, and he always, ALWAYS, blocked my sword. I would cheer whenever I got a hit in.

I'll add more, I just need to think of more.

Majora's Mask was hard in general lol.

But seriously, I have to say the hardest boss for myself that made me want to take a hammer to my game was Unlimited Hazama from Blazblue.
I have to disagree. I thought the bosses of OoT were harder, mainly because they also hit much harder. Final Gannon put me in a giant world of hurt, while Bongobongo nearly wrecked me the first time and I was forced to use 2 blue potions and a fairy.

Though, for fights that came close to killing me in MM would have to be the first boss, the masked guy in the swamp. He didn't hurt much, but I had some difficulty at first to actually hit him. Once I got the hang of it all, he fell easily.

If you hated Gate then despair at Red from Mega man X7. Twice as annoying (instead of being invincible to all your weapons he teleports around the arena.) He will counter attack you when he's vulnerable to damage (when he's not, he's going for his most annoying attack.). Also, If you lose one character, you have to fight him all over again. And the real kicker, the [censored] battle is [censored] done in [censored] [censored] [censored] 3D, which means camera screw and depth perception fail ahoy. :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear:

The Duke in his Final form from Tales of Vesperia. I finally managed to beat him, but it took many, many attempts. :P

Menardi & Saturos and the Fusion Dragon from Golden Sun kicked my ass on my first play through of the game. Deadbeard too.

Ornstien and smough. I dont think I have ever raged so much from a boss. Well before them it was the capra demon fight.

Im suprised no one has mentioned psycho mantis though.

I thought that the chap at the end of Half Life was quite difficult; though that fight might be more a case of the most annoying since the careless amongst us (namely me) will find themselves constantly being teleported to annoying places. I think I finished him off with the crowbar for old times sake.

Eh, once you figure out what to do, he becomes quite easy. However, I had difficulty with that electric guy in MSG3 when there's a timer, especially when you're just trying to make him pass out. In addition, Ocelot in MSG4 was difficult for the first...10 tries. The Fury was more [censored] annoying than anything, and the Fear can be a [censored], unless you figure out a certain weakness of his and exploit it.

Your kidding right? Even my first time seeing him, I only died once (had a fairy), and found out how to beat him :P. Then I proceeded to do it 22 more times before moving on to another game. :read:

It sounds ridiculous, but Duriel from Diablo II. Don't know how many times both me and my Merc died. I'd eventually run out of money resurrecting him!

You had to bring him up :banghead: . Cheapest [censored] boss ever, followed by a powered up Diablo.

Now I'm remembering the other boss in mook's clothing, Bremm Sparkfist, that [censored] Council Member with shock.

There were also those little bone guy things or whatever that would resurrect after a short while.
