Why would people even consider playing this game on console?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:49 am

Steamworks is Draconian and stupid in design. Not to mention that Consoles don't force you to update patches unlike the PC version and it's much cheaper to use consoles and less of a pain if you aren't a computer genius.

I really don't care who chooses what platform. I'm on a PC for my own reasons. I am not forced to update patches though. Haven't updated with a patch until I chose to yet.

I agree that Steam is evil and is the only thing that has made me heavily consoder going console for my games.

However, PC s are not as expensive as you might think. My m8 has an Xbox and that has become more expensive than my PC with the expensive add-ons and gubbings that go to it. In fact, he even had t buy a whole new HD TV just to see it better which basically made it cost more than my rig!

Really, PCs are not the big, difficult mystery people think they are these days.

Skyrim is one of those games where I get to relax and play at the same time. I enjoy chilling in my bed across the room and laying down while killing people. You can't do that on a PC.
Actually with the right PC set up, you can. I can kick back in my recliner, playing on my computer and on an 84" HD screen. The idea of kicking back in a recliner, couch, or bed, with a console but not a PC, isn't the greatest argument.

Hmm. Maybe because not everybody in the world likes to play games on PC?

I bought it for Xbox 360 because I very simply did not want to play it on PC. I wanted to sit on my couch, controller in hand, mini-fridge of beer next to me, five feet away from my (much bigger than my pc monitor) flat screen. I want to play the game in comfort.

And I also refuse to move [censored] around and connect my pc to my flat screen. It's going to stay in my office, where it belongs, separate from the TV room. To the guy who posted just before me? Yes, this is a GREAT argument.

I dont get it, Its a Bethesda game, Well known for modding and supporting modding, Neither can be done on console, While I can understand you may not have a decent enough PC, if you do, Why would you get it for PS3/360? Doesn't make any sense to me.

STEAM.

That is the only reason I don't have it for the PC.

Yes you can if you want too. With my set up I can sit at my desk or play on the couch on the big screen TV. Just takes an extra cable. Just depends on what I feel like at the time. :D

Steam is perfectly fine, it's really useful. Also consoles do force updates. If you decline you get signed off the online service.
Yeah but you can't play the game on PC until Steam updates everything, hence that's one of the reasons it's a Draconian system especially if it forces up to update to a patch that makes things worse not better like patch 1.2. With Xbox I can just play offline, I can't do that with PC if Steamworks is auto updating.

It's not a great argument. The guy said PC's can't be played with comfort in mind, hence go console. Your argument is different...that it would require moving etc to get that comfort. Your choice. PC's are capable though of being used on couch if someone chooses to set them up that way. :D

I can play on PC but just prefer my first few play-throughs to be pure Bethesda experiences + I prefer console gaming by default (including Achievements specifically on my 360 GT this gen--which by the way, finally hit 100% yesterday after ~180 hours! Now to see how much mileage I can get from side/radiant quests before it gets boring and I start anew). I'll play it and mod it on PC in like a year, but for now I only care about the 360 version. Preferences and such.

1) Because i sit in front of a PC all day at work and don't wish to come home and do the same thing. Like you don't understand why people can play on consoles, i don't understand why anyone who uses a PC at work would enjoy sitting in front of a PC 24/7, 7 days-a-week.

2) injured a disc in my back years ago and even if i could muster up any enthusiasm whatsoever, to sit using a PC in my spare time, it would cripple me sitting hunched over a keyboard.

3) Can come home from the pub and play FIFA etc with my mates whilst we're all sitting in the same room, playing the same game, at the same time.

Console suits my needs. If that makes some faceless internet nerd unhappy, then that's their issue, not mine.

I'm a PS3 user, and some of the severe flaws I find in Skyrim makes me consider PC gaming. Too bad I have no money, compooters confuse me, and I have no idea how to play games with a mouse and keyboard.
My game purrs like a kitten on Xbox, and this is me.

AGAIN everyone ASSUMES that ps3 port is bad,and ALL players have had bad game expirences.

ME AND 5 OTHERS I KNOW HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH PS3 AT ALL

WE MUST HAVE HAD THE MAGIC COPYS FOR PS3???

The game plays fine in offline mode with Steam as well. Been playing it for days that way. If I want the update or patch I'll go online.

I prefer playing it on the xbox actually. the same with Oblivion, which I had on the PC first but played far more on the console. Each to their own, thank goodness there are options ;)

Lol. The console player is not a nerd too because he plays on a console and not a PC?

Amazing. An Xbox is basically a dumb-down PC. It has a harddrive and a CPU, etc except it`s packaged in such a way you don`t have to think your nerdish mind about it.

To the guy who posted just before me? Yes, this is a GREAT argument.

I personally don't care if someone plays on a PS3, an Xbox or a PC. The problem with the game is how they made it for one platform and poorly ported it to the other two. That's not on the gamers of said platforms.
Some not so bright gamers from which ever platform they use, start one of these threads everyday.
I find some of the arguments used supporting one over the other as being funny and at times inaccurate.

"Oh, but I can play my XBox on a 42" TV, which is much bigger than a puny monitor".
"I can kick back on a couch, a recliner or bed."

Pointless arguments, as computers can be used the same way. It's all in how they are set up.

Sorry not everyone can afford a fabulous gaming PC like yourself. If i could i would have bought it for the PC instead, actually the only thing i need to play Skyrim is a new graphics card, but i don't have any money to do so. I like the console version as well, it's not bad, we just don't get access to mod's.

So here's my reasoning: I just got tired of trying to keep up with new hardware. That and since I own my own business and work from home, my office space is dedicated to business. And so is my computer. Can I run Skyrim? Sure, but I wouldn't get anything done. So, I've got my MGS4 bundle PS3 and play on that. In the living room. And for me, I find that FPS/Skyrim/Fallout/uncharted, etc are more immersive with just a controller in my hand as opposed to mouse/keyboard.

By playing it on my PS3, it is an excuse to take a break as well.

Two reasons i play on Xbox and not PC

#1, An Xbox/PS3 sole purpose is to play games, were as a computer is meant for 100000000 other things, plus i have a comp that is meant for watching videos, surfing the net, etc, not running super HD games.

#2, whenever i have a game for PC, i spend more time modding, tweaking or getting mad about crashes then i actuly spend playing the game, were as with a Xbox or PS3 you can just put the disc in the reader and play without worrying about "stuff you COULD add","What if my game crashes or doesint work" and "Mabye i can do something to make the game run faster" and whatnot.

Some peeps have the trouble of having a big pool of water called the Atlantic ocean between them and the nearest Wal-mart. Iam one of them.

Just an example, any random department store will do

Ohh, oh no, please man, but it`s fun reading ridiculous comments that try to put down PC users from people who use a `PC` and don`t know it.

This is why it is great to have options. For me my work is on the computer but the nature of it comes in spurts with downtime in between. So I run with two monitors. On one I usually have a game open and on the other is work stuff. During the day I end up switching back and forth quite a bit. And if I just want only game time I flick a switch so to speak and move to the couch in the living room. If I just had a console I'd find the opposite then you happening. I'd play less games or have to be constantly moving from one room to another. lol
