Why would people even consider playing this game on console?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:41 am

I dont get it, Its a Bethesda game, Well known for modding and supporting modding, Neither can be done on console, While I can understand you may not have a decent enough PC, if you do, Why would you get it for PS3/360? Doesn't make any sense to me.

If people can't afford a gaming PC they will turn to cheaper options.

Maybe if your pc isn't updated to run Skyrim but your 360 can? Yes i'm a cheap bastard.

I have a decent enough pc, i play on xbox. I mean really with a little effort i could have plugged my computer into my tv, plugged in my xbox controller and had almost the same experince. But still i like my xbox, i can share games with friends (trade i suppose), chat on xbox live. Also the majority of mods i don't really like, all i added to ob was a few suits of armor and the decent quest mods.

It's easier for me to connect an xbox to a living room with a big ass HD TV and nice surround sound.

I like Modding because it adds more possibilities/Uniqe features to the game, giving it a more lasting appeal to me, I have a 360 and I rented Skyrim from redbox, To see the difference, It felt more natural using a controller, but it just felt like it was missing something to me.

This thread is unnecessary. There have been numerous threads about it. It always end up in a console vs PC war.

It's not about can I afford a decent desktop. I choose not to buy one. I'm a X box fan and have been since day one. I've played my fair share of games on both the computer and console. I choose the console. As far as modding, who cares. Why use cheats and modding. You take away from the game by using mods. You change the rules of the game to your benefit and quite frankly it's sad. Just look at all the crap going on with Modern Warfare and Black Ops. Mods, Mods and more Mods. The online play of those games is unfair because people like you choose to change the game to your favor so you can be number 1 in deaths, or number 1 in whatever. Give me a break. You can take your Mod and go fly a kite. Mod's are for people who just have to be number 1 in the gaming community. Sad, very sad indeed.

I've played on Xbox since Morrowind. I'm sure at some point since then I could have built quite a few gaming pc's. Just never wanted to. I like the ease of use, no need to constantly update drivers, and I even feel like Xbox Live (even though I pay 39.99 per year for it) is a worthwhile once a year bill. All my brothers play Xbox and we live on different continents (one lives way out in the pacific!) and we can all talk to each other over Xbox Live with ease either when playing games together or when playing single player games. I understand all of this is possible with a pc but not at the price and not with as much ease.

I know some people are going to talk about how they can get a gaming pc up and running for rougly the same cost as it takes to buy a new console but I have never been able to find comparable prices. My 360 was $199.00 with a 120 GB HD, HDMI cables, and a controller + headset.

There is also (usually lol) mor3e of an emphasis on games being delivered to market needing a lot less patching. The trend of release now, patch later has become more prevalent in the last few years which is disheartening but I still like my Xbox. You prefer your PC for the advantages it brings. Awesome.

I played Oblivion on 360 just fine. And that was years after I had already got it for PC.
When I was playing it on console, I found that I was playing it even more. And I was never feeling like I to make it better.
On PC I spent more time tweaking, downloading mods, modding stuff myself. I never actually got comfortable in just playing it for what it was.

I dont EVER use mods that give me a advantage, I use mods that ADD stuff to the game, I dont download like god weapons and what not. Trust me, if you would stop being judgemental and jumping to conclusions, you would see that.

There os also a VERY promising Multiplayer mod in the works, Already in an alpha stage.

I've seen Skyrim on Nvidia 310 and ATI/AMD HD 4250 integrated graphics. Skyrim is ridiculously light on GPUs for the most part. Most consoles players probably have a PC good enough to grab a second copy when it they see a good price on it next year [like when it's under $30 in a few months or during Steam's summer sale].

I could buy a gaming PC if I really wanted to, but I don't want to do that for just one game, so I see it as a waste of money for me. Skyrim and its unofficial bug fixes would be the only reason I'd ever want one. In the meantime, I'm content to use the computer for internet stuff and my consoles for gaming stuff.

I've seen Skyrim on Narabi 490Mi Hexalabelled GPU/iQuad pro 590x console pro P/HD9980 and it looks quite swell! Better than the old 9970 I had!

No contest, pc always wins, providing it has enough stones to play the game well. Mine does not, that is why I play on my ps3.

I don't believe you can run PS3 (or 360) exclusive games on a PC yet, at least not at any decent speed.

EDIT: Unless you were talking particularly about Skyrim and not PS3 games in general. If so, disregard.

Some people like to just buy the game and put the disc in without having to worry about problems, or modding or any of that

Personally I play PC, but I'm fine with putting up with that stuff.

You don't even know what a mod is, by the sound of it. When I look at pc gaming nowadays I see that it's big, cheap, infinitely backwards compatible, has a larger choice of games and more accurate and useful controls. I don't want to sound like an elitist but it's my experience. And I have an xbox 360 and Wii, they are better if you want to play some games with friends on the couch. But even in group gaming pc beats consoles for me, with LAN's. Man, I remember some wicked LANs I went to. PC just offers more to me.

Yep, I just bought a 22" VIZIO for Xmas. I do use the PC for TES games. But I usually wait till all the DLC is on disc and I have the CK. Plus with 360 I just buy the game and put it in the console. With alot of OS's I have had to get these patches and fixes and alot of pain in the ass stuff to make single and MMO games work right. Seems like too much work more then anything these days. Hell even having to do it on my so called great Alienware with dual and quad everything on it. PCs anymore are just more frustrating tech we have to put up with.....lol

Modding an online game is one thing. Modding a single player game is totally different.

Not all mods are cheats, and for console players to continuously spout that is wrong.

I'm not saying there aren't mods that are blatant cheats, but you aren't forced to use them, much like the console commands.

Using cheats is an individual thing. Don't lump every PC gamer into the same group because some do it. I'm sure not all console gamers want to be grouped into the same crowd as the console gamer stereotype.
