I would go to work and save any time off for more important stuff. A game can wait until I get home. Of course, being retired now, I don't have to worry about it any longer.

Took the next day off. Had it scheduled for awhile so there wasn't a problem. Work is normally the priority, but on this day, Fallout New Vegas takes that spot. Collector's edition.

Back in the late 90s, when I was in my late teens, I was ordered to take a break from college after almost clouting one of the teachers due to stress. I had gone into college when I wasn't ready after news I had received directly after completing my exams - I was told that my disability was a risk to the work place and employment would be highly unlikely so I would be placed on benefits, so I used that time to play Final Fantasy 7.
Now with employers refusing to employ me due to the risk of law suits due to my disability being an issue then I have more free time than I know what to do with, and stuck on benefits while my disability continues to get worse as I get older.

Never fun to have so much free time.

It can be nice to take a break, better than overworking and suffering from burn out. The break will be refreshing and you'll return to work feeling more refreshed.

Sadly I just started 2 weeks ago at my job and the only reason I was able ot have those days off for being sick was that my coughing and sneezing was so obvious and nasty that my boss sent me home early.

Go to work. I can't wait for this game either. But I'm happy to be working. You take the day off..c'mon its gonna be there when you get home. Just my 2 cents.

Totally agree, I would never skip a lecture for a game release. As much as I love games, even my homework and studying needs to be done before them. I spend too much to go to school to slack off.

Work on the other hand, you miss a day, you arnt missing anything important and if you have the day to take off, why not, go for it! Enjoy yourself a little :celebration:

@above, although thats true, if he works a long shift, he might not have much time to play or even enjoy it if he is that tired.

But seriously, everyone takes time off work, a lot of the time just because they don't wanna go in. I don't know you personaly, but by your post, you seem like a "stand-up guy". You've earned it sport!

I can't take a day off just because I want a videogame, I'd miss important topics in school and- Hell, I am INABLE to.

Well I have MOS Training... not getting up at 5:00, running 1 1/2 miles, doing some routine [censored], then learning what makes a tank work, would ultimately result in me having to clean either my barracks or the storage, then running more miles, and getting chewed out for the next week. So I think I can wait until 6:00 to play NV

I just tried to convince my grandma to let me stay home, I failed :sadvaultboy: perhaps Charisma shouldn't have been my dump stat, however I have gym 7th period and I will be arriving home early to play the game :celebration: . Tomorrow is going to be the slowest progressing day of my entire life..

Im going to play of a bit tomorrow night, but take a personal day on thursday (my birthday). I have too much crap going on. I told myself that I wasnt going to buy it until december but I guess we know how that panned out. Its already pre-loaded.

It's never worth it, unless a release is on a Friday. With a tuesday you'll just mess up your sleep schedule and feel like a drug addict suffering from withdrawal weds, thurs & fri.

Is there a rehab for video games.....taking time off for a game...man...wonder if anyone did this for pinball.

The opportunity cost of taking off work is the money you could have made from that day on the job. If you feel FONV is more important then go for it.

Its almost the end of the year. Alot of people have left over vacation days to throw away.

I'm house sitting from the 22nd. Kids have a week off school and the family is going away. I've ordered the game to be delivered to that address, it'll probably get there before I do. :stare: I thought they wanted me on the 19th, but I'd confused the date with the US release of FO:NV. lol Anyway, essentially I'll be getting paid to play it. I'll have to remember to feed a cat occasionally, but other than that, I should be without distraction. S'a nice area though, so I'm hoping to get out and about a bit, but me thinks I'll be seeing more of the Mojave than the east coast of England.
