To work or not to work

Money is more important than sitting at home playing a video game, so I'll work.

I'm on holidays this week. Booked them way back in Feb. before the New Vegas release date was ever confirmed. It's funny how things just kind of work out for the better once in a while.

You've almost talked me into it. Ha. I just need another couple of people with "career type" jobs to say they're doing it too. Then I'm in...

Sorry I didn't mention in my previous post but I'm definitely not a college kid working at Subway. ;) I'm 26 and work in ad sales and marketing. ;)

I feel somewhat irresponsible for even posting this, but is anyone taking off work for this game? I have never done this but am strongly considering taking a personal day on Tuesday so I can pick the game up tomorrow night at midnight and play it until the wee hours of the morning. Is anyone else taking time off to play this game? I feel like this is something that would be acceptable for a college student who works at Subway, but not for me. I'm married, one kid, and I have a professional job. Pretty funny. My wife has "approved" it but I still have trouble justifying it. Any thoughts?

I am taking three days my self, I been working 7 days a week for the last two or three months (closer to three) and I really want a break and to play this.

Personally, I plan on becoming a hermit this whole week and play Fallout: NV until my thumbs are blistered....

Ok, maybe that is a little extreme, but let's just say that I will be dedicating about 99.97% of my free time to Fallout: NV this week.

Ha. That would be easy, all of our students have laptops. No computer lab needed. But anyway, coming up with a sub-plan is no problem, its justifying staying home to play a video game that I'm having a moral dilemma with.

my mom is an activities director at a high school and she's thinking about it. It's for one day. It won't hurt anything. Just imagine you are researching postapocalyptic worlds for your class.

I'm the Special Project Director for a data center and I'm taking Tuesday off. If you're getting paid and not interrupting some major workflow then go for it.

Hey there.
I'm married and working as a Computer Tech. at a professional firm, and is taking the day off when the game is released here.
As others have said. If there ain't anything of importance comming up, then go ahead.

EDIT: And oh, my wife approves as long as she get the CE special stuff and we play 50/50.

Unfortunately I already took time off last week because I was genuinely sick :(
All I can think is why couldn't I be sick this week LOL.
At least Tuesday is my day off :D

I wish I'd had a teacher in high school that was into Fallout, that would have been schweet! And that economy rap was pretty good.

What do you get two weeks off from? Did you get Super AIDS with a little mono on the side?

Me too : (

I had been planning to call in for this Tuesday for months until I was sick for 3 days 2 weeks ago. Now I cant morally justify taking the time off. If I were you and didn't have the same dilemma I would be taking off in a heart beat. I live in Colorado where almost every person I work with calls in at least twice per ski season to hit the slopes. I would have no problem doing the same for New Vegas.

I agree with whoever posted that teachers dont get paid enough. Take the day and enjoy yourself. Your students will still be there when you get back.

I took paid Vacation all this week. It's only by happy accident that my vacation happens to fall on New Vegas' release date. Not that I'm complaining.

You're doing it all wrong. You don't take Tuesday off. You wait the extra days, take Friday off and stay up all weekend. Then you get from end of the day Thursday till Sunday night with the game. :celebration:

I'm blaming it on you guys... but it's done. Not working tomorrow. Ha. I'm going to make myself do some things around the house that I've put off tomorrow during the day but tonight it's Fallout time. I checked this morning and I had 28.5 sick days and 3 personal days (we get 3 per year and if we don't use the they turn into sick days). I think I can afford to burn one for this. I have never actually taken a day off from work just to do something I want to do, so really I guess I don't feel bad. A little time off is a good thing as long as it's not abused. I guess that's what personal days are for, right!? And plus my Monday's are brutal. Work all day and now I have a masters class from 4:00 until 7:00. Midnight can't come soon enough.

I'm taking half a day off. (Best Buy doesn't open until 10, so working til 11 works for me.) I have a kid, a mortgage, and a gf with a kid. I earned the time away from work, so I'll use it to play video games. I can't afford to go out of country or on a cruise, so what's wrong with using vacation for playing video games?
