Alright. We've got to talk... tell me your secrets. My wife hates video games.

There's no secret. You just make sure they love video games before you marry them! :D

Take the personal day. God knows teachers don't get paid enough as it is. Reward yourself. Sick days and personal days are there just for that. How effective are you really going to be on Tuesday anyway if you are watching the clock more than the students?

I feel somewhat irresponsible for even posting this, but is anyone taking off work for this game? I have never done this but am strongly considering taking a personal day on Tuesday so I can pick the game up tomorrow night at midnight and play it until the wee hours of the morning. Is anyone else taking time off to play this game? I feel like this is something that would be acceptable for a college student who works at Subway, but not for me. I'm married, one kid, and I have a professional job. Pretty funny. My wife has "approved" it but I still have trouble justifying it. Any thoughts?

Hah dude I am in kind of in your exact same boat only I'm not married and am now happily single (for now). I do screenprinting but were not that busy next week so I plan to pick my copy up Monday midnight and just get into work around noun. My job is pretty laid back . .

I work seven days a week and I have no choice but to work haha. I just won't be getting much sleep before work...probably the only time I'm glad I don't start until 2pm. I did take class off for FO3 release though =P

Man, if I was still in college I would not go to class all week. I used to skip class all the time in college to play games.

Hmm, I could do it during high school but for college I haven't missed a day, for games at least. :)

Are you serious? You can't decide between playing a video game with virtual rewards and going to your job to earn actual money in order to support your family, thereby becoming a responsible human being and a productive member of society?

Let me help you.

Skip work and play Fallout: New Vegas.

Haha. Good thing is, I get paid whether I work or take a personal day. I earn a salary, not an hourly wage. So if you want to think about it that way, I'll be getting paid to play a game. :D

What's the point in having paid leave if you're not going to use it? I'd take off work if I was working that day. I wouldn't skip college though. I'm paying for the course, so I want to get my money's worth.

Well, the benefit is that, if you don't use your sick/personal days I get paid for each of them when I retire. A fellow teacher retired 3-4 years ago and had hundreds of sick days built up, he got a check for over $38,000. That would be a nice "bonus" upon retirement. But for me, that's 20 years away... so...

I almost planned missing school on teusday for it. Thats a whole lot 'worse' then taking a vacation day at your job. Alas, my dad wouldnt let me, but still. :P I hope this helps. I would do it as long as you arent missing anything big and you have earned the day.

I have class two days a week and tues is one of them. Missing one day of class is about an entire month of high school in constitutional law...

Gotcha. I used to have a Tuesday/Thursday schedule in college. It was awesome. Make the most of it, pal. College was the greatest of times.

Wait a minute. In college, you only had to go to school two days of the week? Is it possible to have a 5 day, all day, week in college?

Man, you guys are way to encouraging... I was thinking I'd get a lot of, "what are you thinking!?" I guess that's just from me being around my wife too much, even though she doesn't care if I stay home. Heading to bed. Will decide tomorrow. Probably going to go to work, just don't know if I can justify it. We'll see. Good conversation, though. Made me laugh a few times.
