would you still have bought it?

After more than 300 total hours played and only a few problems that other PS3 players have had, HELL YEAH I'd buy it knowing the issues I'd have.

Yes!, I would've still bought "Skyrim" the PC version because of the Creation Kit and Mods!

Of course I would've still bought it. It's a TES game.
As I find bugs, I simply check the nexus for a mod to resolve them. The same can be said for mechanics, or, indeed, anything about the game, really.

My condolences to anyone who bought it for a console not knowing the past history of Bethesda titles, or anyone who simply couldn't run Skyrim suitably on their PC/doesn't have one. In such a situation, I would definitely feel resentful.

Yes I'm having a lot of fun playing the game, and that's the most important part. I have a long ways to yet. So I've got tons of fun yet to come.

Yes, I would buy it as a good game. There's a strong chance for now on any elder scrolls game will only be good games. That's the way it is. I probably won't pre-order again. I'll also get whatever new Fallout comes along....

I'll probably be a little sad every time another installment arrives and is a 'good game'. I hope to God someone else picks up the torch and inspires us again.

Amen.

I really have no idea what you mean when you say it's full of flaws. I've put in over 180 hours and have seen very few problems. It has frozen up a few times but that's really the only thing I've had any issues with. I would certainly buy it again. In fact when I finally get around to getting a new PC I will be buying it again so I can see it in all its glory as well as playing around with mods.

Now if you're talking about your own personal feelings about how the way the game should have been done then that's extremely subjective and not a fair way to judge a game.

The question was "would you still have bought it" after having played and seen the game. That's a personal decision, and thus it is absolutely valid to judge a game based on flaws that create perceived imperfections within the game. Should the game be judged solely on how well the engine runs, I mean, come on, at some point a judgment has to be made about the gameplay itself . . .

Flaw: the Impact perk + Enchanting allows a Destruction mage, with no other skills except for Enchanting, to stunlock anything, indefinitely. Without ever running out of mana or fearing reprisal. That is a major flaw, whether it is seen as one of those "always has been easily obtained divinity within TES games" or not, it's still a huge flaw. There are plenty, but I was only naming one of the most glaring (to my personal gameplay.)

Not a chance. 4 reasons mainly to wait for the GoTY edition at the very least.

A) A large number of the bugs would have been officially patched. The rest would have unofficial patches (by the time of it's release I hope to have a PC capable of running it).

B ) Mods, massive amount will probally be avialable by that time, to the point of making the base game unrecognizable, getting rid of or fix poor design choices.

C) All the DLC and the game at a discounted price, less then I've paid for the base game. No only is that a great deal for me personally but I actually feel bad for "supporting" them with a pre order and what I did get, that would have a great impact then simply stating my issues with it on here.

D ) This is the real important one, due to the constant restarts and experiencing the game in such a fragmented and broken manner the experience even if I come back to it in 6 months will always be tainted, I'll be passing though stuff I have done/seen before to get to newer stuff or other content I wasn't able to experience. Having that improved first impression would make such a massive difference, frankly it's about time Bethesda put some thought into releasing more stable games, it's was cute in Oblivion but now bringing back the same bugs some of which they have fixed before is just bad. If only they weren't so eager to be hated via legal actions and put that money to testing, then again they don't seem that worried about thier PR, not even sure why they hire people for the job volenteers do most of the useful things.

I've gone as far as recommending people wait til GoTY at least for these reason, frankly if you didn't preorder it, have it for christmas or buy it inbetween these points there is no good reason to rush out and get it now.

I am going to buy it. Nothing has been a surprise... and my plan was always to wait at least until February before picking it up ~that changed with the announcement of the CS being made available in January. I plan to buy the game as soon as I see the CS up for download.
It's CK now, don't you know? ;-) in the same way skyrim uses a "wholly new engine" =P

Absolutely. Hundreds of hours of entertainment, glitches all minor, more fun to come. Skyrim and DA 2 should keep me very happy til Diablo III comes out.

I don't see that as a flaw. Yes it can be accomplished but you don't have to play that way. Nobody forced you to utilize enchanting in that fashion, you choose to do it. Bethesda's games have always allowed the player to become god like if they so choose. I personally decided not to go that far with it and my character feels well balanced. But if I want to play that way at some point when I'm bored and just want to be invincible, I have that option as well. It gives the player more freedom so I don't see it as a flaw as much as a choice.

And regardless of any perceived or actual flaws in the game I would still buy it again without a second thought. It is an amazing game as a whole and there are no flaws in it that would keep me from enjoying it again and again. Modded it will be even more fun. I look forward to when that day comes too.

I've only played Skyrim for ~110 hours so far, so I certainly haven't seen everything yet. But yes, I think the pros outweigh the (admittedly numerous) cons. But, then again, I'd buy an Elder Scrolls game no matter how awful it is. :P

Definetly one of the best games i've ever played, and i've gotten really picky with video games over the years. Everygame is gonna have problems...haven't seen any in skyrim yet.

Steam almost didn`t make me buy it. i`ve been keeping away from Steam games hard to show my feelings and I feel a bit ashamed about getting Skyrim because this`ll just make Bethesda think that I love Steam, which I don`t.

But it`s really hard losing out on your favourite games because some company basically blackmails you with `You can`t have this pretty good game unless you sign your soul up to Steam, and no there`s no other way, we don`t care!"

I hate being hog tied to it, not knowing if one day I`ll lose the game because of it.

Anyway, I still steer away hard from Steam and have only about 3 games on it. All my 50 others are pure non-Steam.

As to the original question: If this game had not been Steam, a most definite yes, even if I don`t like the `dumbing down`.

Do you have Skyrim??

Because if you do you cannot avoid Steam- It`s in your face.

What a strange question.

Hands down, yes, I would have still bought it. As other posters have pointed out, most things will be fixed by the community, and this has been the case with previous Elder Scrolls titles. We all just have to relax & be patient. The mod tools will get here eventually ;-)

Yes. I love Elder Scrolls. Nothing new really previous Elder Scrolls have had their own problems.

Besides. I already knew Skyrim would be packed with some.

Steam is a digital distribution program from the creators of half-life and portal, Skyrim on the PC requires you to install it and connect to the internet in order to validate your copy.

Eh...no, well not yet at least. I would have waited for a patch that fixes the main quest which I cannot do at the moment and possibly a price drop.
