  • That you can place spells, bows, and swords in your favorite menu.
  • That you can change weapons in mid-combat. For some crazy reason I thought you could not change just like it was in Oblivion.
  • That you can have a main quest marker and miscellaneous quest marker active at the same time, and you can turn one of them off.
  • That you have to unlock shouts.
  • Killing a chicken in Riverwood at level one would get you killed. I now know to leave chickens alone.
  • Giants are in no way friendly.
  • You can move while over encumbered.
  • You can fast travel while over encumbered if you are on a horse.

1, 4 and 6.

Wait a year before buying a Bethesda game. That way the bugs might be fixed by then and it will be cheaper.

To not come here and see all the spoilers. This was my first TES game and I had no clue coming here was a bad idea in the first few weeks. Now I know all the other sites that will help if you get stuck. You come here and ask and people tell you the whole thing or just by browsing the forums you'll see so many spoilers.

Join the Stormcloaks first before advancing in the main quest. The quest breaker bug is annoying. It makes me not want to play Skyrim. I'm almost at level 50, so I'm just trying to keep busy with random things in the game. I'm starting over once I get Level 50 trophy.

Steam
I bought it on Steam on purpose. Steam rocks.

Yeah. Steam was selling Fallout: NV and Fallout 3 for $4.99 each over the winter sale. How much you wanna bet that Skyrim will be the same price next December?

That Giants and mammoths are the most dangerous things in this game, Dragons are easy fights and.... That Dragon armour is completely useless for heavy armour users AND there are NO DRAGON WEAPONS!!!! Seriously, why bother with dragons at all? I say, let them eat everyone in Skyrim. Except for Ma'iq the liar. I like Ma'iq.

I would have calmly told me not to look forward to the Mage's College in as soothing a way as possible (In other words: Well, there's no spell-crafting system and the mage's college is basically 6 or so terribly lackluster barely strung-together quests which end up leaving a taste in your mouth that is quite remniscient of horker droppings but... well, everything else is pretty much epic.)

I would want to know less, like I did in Morrowind and Oblivion. It made those games so much more magical having no idea where the main quest was going to take me, and who I was going to be.

That starting a game as a Khajiit and going right into hand-to-hand combat will make the game seem laughably easy. I one-shot so many guys I was trying to wonder what went wrong at Bethesda. It was on normal difficulty...This lasted until about level 3. Then the dying started.

if i could have known one thing before starting skyrim?

1). to create 5 new game saves after any new created char (xbox360 - which prevents the game from freezing / locking up)

2). create a game save right before entering the night mothers coffin during the imperial attack on the darkbrotherhood. Then after the game save, to reboot the xbox and reload the game save to prevent a bsod and game freeze.

That you're free to level enchanting and make enchanted items, but woe on you if you actually use any of it.

this it's frustrating seeing people on the forums saying they have 300+ hours when I barley got to 170 hours then the game was unplayable :(
