Do you have any irrational hatreds?

I hate it when someone use their leaf blower right below my window early in the morning.

People that say 'markedly', 'orders of magnitude' or 'nonsensical' every chance they get in a fruitless effort to appear intelligent.
Your nonsensical protest against the S[mensa]W (sensical mensa wannabes) continued use of those words is so markedly nonsensical that it is, by several orders of magnitude, more nonsensical then even the most nonsensical thing to be markedly nonsensical by several orders of magnitude.

lmao. That is exactly what I'm talking about, and is only exaggerated by about 1 use of a comma.

A flash the brakes a bit, that usually shakes them off.

Though of course one of my sister's friends got beaten up after doing that.
I have to admit that I wonder at times if I'm going to earn myself a beating someday. That day has yet to come though.

I think you're all confusing the word "irrational" with "rational," haha.
Agreed. I would have listed a few things written in other replies had it not been for the fact it's about irrational hatred rather than rational. Like with a few other posters I feel that my hatred/dislike is entirely rational.

And usually can't be read by anyone but the writer.

Often including the writer, in my experience at least.

Another irrational hatred is when I see people writing "w/" instead of "with". It's okay as shorthand in notes, but if it's peppered throughout otherwise regular text it's just irritating. A bit like writing "u" for "you" and other text-speak-isms, I suppose.

The only time I've seen someone doing it to the extent that would get them into trouble was an idiot who overtook me and then repeatedly slammed on their brakes over and over; though in my case I wasn't tailgating, my "transgression" was making them stop at a junction that they were supposed to stop at by doing such an unforgivable thing as existing. It did irritate me enough that I was about to have words (and I'm really not scary in the least) at which point they sped off. For which I was thankful. But with that sort of behaviour, it can't have been long before they crossed the wrong person.

Not that I'm saying that's what happened in the incident in question; some people are just hokerrs who use any excuse to cause trouble.

I'm not that extreme at least. If I'm driving close to the speed limit and I have someone only a few inches behind me as if urging me on, then I just lower the speed. It's enough to get some people frustrated (I think it's usually pretty obvious I do it on purpose), but not enough to goad mentally stable people into violence. But then I guess the more reckless drivers are more likely to be persons with aggressive mentalities compared to the people who drive in a responsible manner, so I'm well aware that I might piss off the wrong person one day.

Most people aren't extreme; and I suspect most people don't like tailgaters: apart from being rude and aggressive, they're dangerous. One could make a reasonably convincing case that slowing down is actually the appropriate response, although pulling over and letting them bother someone else is probably the best bet, as galling as it might seem to "give in" to someone pressuring you.

Not that I'm trying to make a judgement call on whether slowing down is a good or a bad thing, I'm just pontificating really!

Another driving-related one: When people come to a stop wayyyy before the stoplight and just sit there, with enough space in front of them to fit 3 or 4 cars.

Not really. I'm pretty rational, and chill.
I get huffy about letting stupid people take up all my oxygen, but I feel that's fairly common.

I have an irrational hatred of bad spelling. I don't care what your first language is, there's no excuse for bad spelling. Most things nowadays have a little something called spell check. That spell check thing is built into forum software, for example. And most other things, too. When you see a red squiggly line under a word? You're probably spelling it wrong. Bad spelling is one of those things that says a lot about a person and what it's saying is not exactly flattering. Especially when that person can't be bothered to spend a right-click to see what might be wrong with what they just typed. /unintentional_rant

I kind of hate bad grammar, too. But sometimes (just sometimes) I'm guilty of it myself. So I can mostly let it go. Unless it's really bad. When it's really bad, my eye starts to twitch and I want to smash things into little pieces.

I also have an irrational hatred of Final Fantasy VII. But that might be because there were so many tools on the internet who wanted to be called Sephiroth. So maybe it's an irrational hatred of those... people. I need to stop talking about it because it's making me angry right now.

I'm not afraid to admit that every one of my hatreds is completely irrational.

For some reason bad food etiquette makes me rage. When I'm near people that eat with their mouth open, talk with a face-full of chow, etc. I have to ball-gag the little angry voice that starts welling up in the back of my brain.

Oh, this, actually. But only a few things. I don't mind people being messy, but if someone chews with their mouth open or talks with food in their mouth, I cringe. Gah.

Going out to eat in a nice place and hearing kids screaming and crying just ruins the evening----it brings my blood to a boil and I'm not the type of guy who has a long tollerence fuse :flame: .

Why, what would've happened there? I'm guessing that the car full of halfwits in question would have already been "dealt with" for doing that to someone less patient than me!

You could very well be right, or you could have been on the receiving end of something violent for having the audacity to provoke someone by obeying the rules. Its is the "road rage" capital of the world. I hate driving there (and thankfully only do it a couple times a year).

I hate green MTG cards.

I'm not familiar enough with MTG to know what Green decks entail, but that reminds me of another one in other TCGs. Any type of lockdown or stall deck. I still play Yu-Gi-Oh with my college friends once in a while, and one of them has a Gravity Bind-based stall deck that is my archnemesis. (For the uninitiated, Gravity Bind prevents any decently powerful monster from taking any action as long as it's on the field. Woe betide you if you already used your magic/trap-destroying cards in that game.)

I really, REALLY hate it when some people feel a necessary urge to move inches close to your face and stare intently into your eyes, even when talking about the most mundane things. It's freaking scary, like BACK OFF MAN! Actually...nevuhmind that's not irrational at all. I'd say my hatred is justified. Oh, and I hate it when uploaders of folk metal videos on YouTube include the lyrical content, but feel compelled to add an "e" at the end of every noun, verb and adjective in order to make it feel "too old, too cold (:P)" or something. I guess that's irrational of me.
