Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #33

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:21 pm

Exactly, Skyrim is lacking non-barbarized vampires, I mean Babete, really? What about that Hern... he is so weak can't even be called a vampire. The Order would be an extremely interesting addition... think of it: Vampires, politics and The Thalmor... its a recipe for success.
Yes! The Thalmor are extremely intelligent, cunning and deceitful. Traits the Cyrodiilic Vampires have. If Bethesda would delve into vampires, it would be good to add them into politics. I agree, the vampires in Skyrim are a jest. Sybille is the only one that is smart and that is against the Thalmor. Not to mention, she lives in the Blue Palace. It would be interesting to have more vampire-quests on her part.

I am fairly confident about that, I just fear that they will pull marketing bs again. Remember what happened when they first announced dawnguard? They came on the forums And hyped everyone that we would finally get DLC info, then dropped a quick photoshop on us that tells us nothing.

I hope they are smarter than to do that again.

Hey guys just to let you know:
Vsions popped his head into the current werewolf thread running on page one and talked about how he enjoyed working on werewolves.

here is the quote
I cant tell you guys enough how much I love reading your adventures and roleplaying with werewolves. That is one of my favorite things to work on. His paired kill which grabs an npc's head and throws them is my personal favorite. I wish i had had more time because I wanted to actually put in different werewolves based on your race and traits, but hey, you gotta finish the game sometime right? Anyway the future looks bright for men and women of the pack

"Anyway the future looks bright for men and women of the pack"

now he is a great artist and may just be having fun with the thread, but that sounds like a hint to me.
now I wont go all overly optimistic and say the DLC is about werewolves now, and I won't hold Vsions to this or get mad if no werewolves are in.

I do hope this means that we get some werewolf content.

Edit: Ah, actually this was two days ago, so you guys probably already know. Good info to speculate on though.

So I know everyone is kind of aware of the way things work in stealth in Skyrim. You sneak into some dark corner, fire your arrows and kill them quickly right? After firing that first arrow your targets will inevitably begin a 20 sec search for you, but without lighting up any torches or using candlelight spells how could they possibly expect to find you? Then when the search is over your target pretends that the arrow that just shot him was just his imagination or just sits there asking for another arrow in his backside. I would like to see bethesda expand on this.

I would recommend adding alert levels to the game of stealth. When someone gets shot by an arrow they should light up torches and cast candlelight/magelight all over the place. After that they should immediately approach the spot where you shot the arrow at with torches in hand of course. When the search is over, they will be alerted to your presence and guards start patrols around the dungeon which will be alert status one. After the next search for you ends alert status 2 begins which will now include guard patrols with torches and actively casting candlelights and magelights. After next search, alert status 3 begins which deal with guards running instead of walking and placing lights around the area.

Alert Status:
Alert status 1: All guards begin patrols with a slightly faster walk.
Alert status 2: All guards patrol faster with torches, candlelights and magelights
Alert status 3: All guards will now run instead of walking fast, constantly looking for you.

In Oblivion I know certain dungeons with guards that had torches would walk around making it hard for sneakers. You have to wait and predict the guards patrol route then react accordingly. Depending on the kind of dungeon your in determines the difficulty of evading sight. Close-quarters would obviously prove to be very difficult. And open dungeons probably should'nt bother you too much. Adding these traits could definitely improve the game of stealth in Skyrim.

Awesome! I hope he means they are going to add wild werewolves, forced lunar transformations, and maybe a werewolf faction that you can join, that isn't the Companions.

If the DLC winds up being a couple of quests involving vampires and/or werewolves, I will literally break down and cry.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo not interested in "Twilight - the Skyrim chronicles."

Definitely. And I honestly don't think they had any intention of announcing that but a story (which I covered first) broke about some datamined files. I think their announcement was about Kinect which epically failed.

Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to have to set my DVR as well.

That is genius and could change the way all playstyles work for the better. I'm saving your quote and posting whenever I can. I hope you dont mind

That would go well with Darker Dungeons too. Allow them to rearm traps. Keep in mind that only mages should be able to use candle and magelight.

I back this stealth idea entirely. In fact I think it should have its own thread, unrelated to dlc

That would be nice. I won't get my hopes up though, so that way I can be pleasantly surprised if they do release it soon. In any case, I'm on PC so I'll have to wait a bit longer, but I'm just starting a new game (and playing Diablo III as well), so that's fine by me.

They already said when Dawnguard was announced that it would be released this summer, so it can't be too far off. I wouldn't be surprised if it were in July or August. What I'm more excited about is getting an idea of just how large of an expansion it really is... and where it takes place. I'm hoping for somewhere that's already well established and detailed in the lore... not just another random plane of Oblivion, like The Shivering Isles.
