Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #33

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:49 am

I hope the DLC will be released in july for Xbox. That's the only month of the summer that I'm at home, and it would be horrible if I missed the DLC before school starts again (I will have so much studying to do that I will barely have time for games at all)...

Ugh....dont get me wrong, I love Solstheim and I love Skyrim's landscape......but the last thing I want to see in a new landmass is more ice......I could go for the exact opposite. Maybe the tomg was excavated and the coffin sent somewhere else? Where the player gets involved somehow?

Keep in mind, that the files say Snow Elf Prince, not Snow Prince, and that these two might be different people. The Falmer could simply have a new leader. It seems odd to me, that they would feel the need to add the word 'elf' here (as if for clarification), when everyone already knows who the Snow Prince was.

He didn't have a coffin, unless it simply was no longer there during Bloodmoon, so you could be right. The burrial chamber was empty, save for his armour (minus the helmet) and his spear. So unless they want to make the Nerevarine seem like an idiot, by adding a new door in Jolgeirr barrow that our previous hero overlooked, there was no Snow Prince there, neither dead nor undead.

Agreed.

Skyrim snowy mountain ranges are great but I truly hope those morrowind/cyrodil/hammerfell gates lead to some place less cold.

I agree, leave the recreation of Soltheim to modders and let's hope those Skyrim gates open to some warmer place (eg. Hammerfell)

Am i the only one leaning towards Hammerfell?
Think about it; strong vampire influence, lots of Dwemer ruins, easy refuge for the Snow Prince
Plus it'd be a welcome change to ice ..

Yeah, I'd also like this, even if it meant going to a hot desert. Just any kind of biome that we haven't already seen in Skyrim,...

EDIT: I guess you wouldn't fine a "Snow prince" in the traditional sense of a desert, unless he was a hipster.

Are these vampires... or were-bats? To me, it looks more Namira-ic than related to Molag Bal.

Oh, and first reaction : pleaaase give us "real" bats. Ones you can interact with.

And also... please, give us http://uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Wings_of_the_Queen_of_Bats. With lore around it.

Seems that we'll have the choice between the the evil and the good guys.

I am now terribly excited at Dawnguard...

And is this Fortress Olenveld. Is this island Roscrea?

Oh, and his dragon breaks the ice ! So maybe some things will pass through it without breaking it?

Gaaaaaah I am getting crazy.

This looks AAAAAWesome !!!

I know it may sound cliche, but I hope a vampire player won't be forced down the "You're a vampire now, so you shouldn't have any problems eating this baby, smashing this puppy, and betraying everyone you're ever spoken to". Perhaps playing turncoat for either side or usurping control of the faction you chose to aid.

I have always considered Imps as intelligent beings. They seem to be present in Dawnguard  Will we have new lore around them? And related items, like Impish weapons or magical staves? It would be amazing imo...

Also, the spectral horse seems to have the same texture as the soulbug of the GameJam. Hope we'll get the latter too. A soulbug seems to be a nice fellow for a vampire. (Also, spellcasting when mounted would be great )

I had a few questions now!

First, is Molag Bal in the DLC? The small shrine looked just like the Mace of Molag Bal.

Secondly, "Feast upon the souls of the living and the dead.". Looks like Alduin is not the only one who can pull this off. Do we get to see a Vampire afterlife now? We seem to descend into another realm in the trailer and it looks badass! Hell, if I was a vampire, I'd choose that afterlife anyday.

Some of those vamps were just beastly!

There was definitely a Falmer in that video taking an axe to the neck.

The realm makes me think to Molag Bal's Cold Harbour. However, the Vampires look more like were-bats and hence seem Namira-ic to me. Moreover, Namira is sometimes protrayed with an Imp.

And I saw what appears to be a Grahl or a Frost Giant... I paused it. Definitely a Frost Giant. It has the same club as a normal giant and everything.

...

I think there may have been a portal to the Soul Cairn. These might just be the Ideal Masters... [censored]

Maybe. But it wouldn't surprise me Molag Bal was involved, as we all know he was the creator of vampires. I noticed we get a new mount too, some sort of black spirit horse or something. Its good to see we get a Netherworld in the Elder Scrolls.
