Dragonborn the worst bethesda dlc ever

Quit having such high expectations, and maybe next time you won't be so disappointed. The only person you have to blame is yourself. Not Bethesda.

Uh because "Dragonborn is the worst bethesda dlc ever" is the title and the reasons are incredibly stupid. No playable wearbears, spears or freeroam dragon riding. Waaah. Miss the new shouts, spells, items, lore, locations, enchantments and likeable NPC's?
Allow me to explain my developed logic: The inclusion of such a vast quantity, far reaching sample of difficult to implement features in a dlc where these things were not promised would make the dlc the best bethesda dlc ever. These things are included but they are so unbelivably half assed that ther inclusion damages the overall quality of the dlc. The reason for this: You realive what the features could do and look at how they are implemented and you realize how they are implemented in vanilla. (The thieves guild similar to Morang Tong , werewolf bites infecting you with lycanthropy) When looking at it this way the dlc looks a pathetic, half assed, unfinished piece of trash.

1) Dragon riding would be so terrible as free control it would be hilarious. I really don't understand how anyone could want that, or even expect it to be good. The world space ijust isn't large enough to support it, let alone how buggy it would probably be as free control.

2) Werebears were never even marketed for this DLC. Does it svck that they aren't playable? Sure. But at least they are there.

3) It is MORAG TONG. MORAG TONG. Anyone that calls it MORANG Tong doesn't deserve to join the illustrious organization. In fact, they should be Fus Ro Dah'd off of the Throat of the World. There is a very simple and logical reason as to why you can't join them. The Dark Brotherhood are joinable. The Morag Tong were joinable in Morrowind, but the Dark Brotherhood were not.

4) Apocrypha's design is perfect. It doesn't need to be open like the main world space. Not sure how you would expect to traverse it anyway, what with those oceans of tentacles looking to violate you. The only way you're getting anywhere there is via dragon. It's also an order of magnitude better than the Soul Cairn was in Dawnguard.

5) Some of the unique armours do have their own designs. But I'm not really sure why it is an issue if some of them share a design with the new DLC armour anyway. It makes sense.

6) Spears was (still is) one of my most wanted "features", but Bethesda never promised we'd get playable spears. Only some of the spears are used as arrows, as well. Rieklings have melee animations for spears and that gives me (admittedly little) hope that we'll see them playable in the future.

7) Useless? I'm mystified as to how you draw this conclusion, I mean really. I'm rocking a set of Nordic Carved Armour, have average (at best) smithing skills and still I'm around the 600 AR mark. I imagine I'll hit the AR cap when I finally get enough bonemold to make my set of improved bonemold armour. Stalhrim and Deathbrand are even better.

For God sakes people read my previous post before you post or this could never move forward.
1. I mentioned that free roam would be impossible but flying in circles is so half assed it damages the quality
2. Again because werebears are so half assed it again damages the quality.
3. So there is no real reason you couldn't join them (sorry about the mispelling)
4. I already said the design was perfect in the first post I mean really dude, READ. Second of all there was no reason the ocean of tentacles had to be there (even if it did add to the cool factor) If it negated free roam.

The Thread title just needs to be changed. Other than that- the OP has every right to be mad about the DLC... It's his opinion. no need to get butt-hurt about it.

Personally, I can somewhat agree... Wasn't promised ANYTHING really. But some of the trivial features that were implemented could have been done MUCH better.

never got my stats that high, lol, but i know that hitting a horse with a wayshrine blessing makes the horse move so fast that the game seems to freeze. kind of like when you dupe 10000 watermelons all at once. and then just when you think the framerate is going to get back to normal with the horse moving that fast, it crashes. just from what i've seen.

1. Dragon riding:
Dragon riding is the laziest thing in this dlc. It would be stupid to think that this would be like horse riding, but the dragons just fly pointlessy in circles from where you tame them and what's stupid is that they cover vast quantities of ingame land with thier circles so it's clear that you could at least make a custom marker on your map and have them fly to it with the technological limits at hand

If you really thought Dragon riding was going to be any better than what it was... well I'll be nice and say you would be crazy. There are a million reasons as to why dragon riding is the way it is. Its not lazy it's Beth's way to "limit" us from "screwing" the game up. If they let us just fly into unloaded cities or over to places that are unloaded, just imagine the "hate" that Beth would get from people.

2. Werebears:
Werebears while not a common new enemy are still prevalent in the lands of solstheim. Thier presence should mean one thing to a seasoned elder scrolls player: get bit by one and become one. But even without being a werewolf or a vampire if you get enough bites to become swiss cheese the disease will not be passed to you. This makes me believe that this was unfinished and rushed out the door.

This boggles my mind along with spears. IDK why Beth would add Werebears and Spears and not make them playable/useable. Thats like putting the candy jar out on the table and telling us "no no you can't have any" and don't give me the "O BeTh Nev ProMiSeD Werebears or SpEre" crap becasue I know the were never "promised" to us but why the bloody hell put them in the [censored] game if we cant play as a Werebear or use a spear?? Really doesn't make sense to me at

OP needs to stop looking at was not there, and what is there.

An great new land to explore
An awesome Daedric realm to explore
Some good new lore
Some great dungeons
A bunch of new weapons, spells, and armor. (every new armor set doesn't have to be better then what is out there)
A lot of new enemies
A much needed bump in difficulty
Some good quests
[censored] Neloth
Bloodskal Blade (Best weapon in the game)
Craftable spiders
And so much more...

Lol yea, I was on console so crashing was pretty frequent anyway. Enchantments and potions to boost stats that high though.

You know what, you're right in a way. I guess its just easier to say I got my hopes up and saw them dashed to bits. The reason i thought it was so bad to begin with is because the dlc could have veen so much more.

I didn't buy DB with huge preconceived expectations. I watched the trailer once and once only. When I got it going, I was very happy and excited. DB isn't perfect, but I'm lovin' it. I don't care that I can't free roam on a dragon, I CAN RIDE A DRAGON! LOL I always get armor that suits my taste, same with weapons, and I love the new offerings. I can make massively over powered weapons and armor, but when I do, I use them for a bit and then go back to my 'workhorse' items, putting the fancy items on display. I care nothing for spears, and this is only my opinion, spear combat would be unwieldy. I wouldn't use it if they had it. I think Beth gave us a main quest because it is expected. I enjoyed it, but Soltstheim has so much more to offer that I don't worry about the main, I am doing it when I run across a piece of it. I think DB is a great addition to Skyrim, and for my characters it will be great melding it into their 'lives'. As for the were creatures, I can take them or leave them. Again, this is only my opinion. You can like or dislike DB, I give it a big thumbs up, and I think the only ones doing any misleading on this DLC have been those who misled themselves by reading too much into things from a game trailer. Take it for what it is and enjoy.

I loved this DLC, so much more than Dawnguard. I found Serana to be incredibly annoying, and the only real benefits from that DLC were the few new spells and nice red/black vampire armor. So much more added in Dragonborn, granted the MQ was way to short and Miraak way too easily killed, but everything else was so far beyond what I expected that it was a real treat.

Personally I think Spears/Werebears/Dragon Riding are beyond idiotic anyway, so I'm glad the devs kinda trolled everyone who hardcoe was dying for it to be added.

Dragonriding, I mean You are supposed to be the slayer of dragons, the annihilator of their species, not someone who climbs aboard and goes for a joyride. Spears, just a stupid weapon anyway, and one that I didn't even use in Morrowind, so don't miss/care about it in the slightest. And werebears, omg, enough with stupid lyncanthropes already. Another mechanic I'd never, ever use.

Worst dlc ever? Did you have Oblivion? Did you buy the horse armor? Lol. I personally love this dlc, but to each his own.

I agree. This dlc is awesome. I was a bit disappointed with the dragon riding until I was fighting one then used bend will on it, took off for a bit and ran into another dragon. I dismounted and low and behold my pet dragon started battling the other one. I had flown him to the mead hut and the little critters joined the battle also.

It was quite an epic sight watching the two ancient dragons squaring off while the spear chuckers were trying to make a difference. My pet dragon lost so I simply tamed the other one and took off again. Was quite an enjoyable experience.

8. miraak is underwhelming, despite being marketed as "your deadliest adversary". he's nothing more than HM's little pawn the only reason why people rate this dlc highly is because it gives them nostalgia. without this, the dlc is just average

Why?
because i never played morrowind and i probobley never will (don't kill me)
and i LOVED this dlc its my favorite of Bethesda's Dlc's

This proves he's not a troll. Not to mention we get Easter eggs that are Morrowind related, level 81 challenges, Riekling Followers and another place to explore! :D

The MQ was shorter than it should've been. We never did learn how or why this particular Dragonpriest was Dragonborn- at least none that I know of. The over-all plot seemed a bit thin as far as the main villain goes. It was good, but not great.

Read "The guardian" Miraak was corrupted and seduced by Mora, he was probably noble before.

As soon as I entered the new land and heard the music I got a smile on my face.

It was a great DLC from that moment on.

That's not the answer though- He was the first Dragonborn- but there's not history behind this. Are you saying that Herma Mora made him Dragonborn?

Being Dragonborn means your gifted with dragonblood by Akatosh.
He was given his gift from akatosh, and he was seduced, and exploited by Mora since he was dragonborn.
