Game no longer recognizes my magic resistance after patch

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 12:52 am

Unplayable for sure, experiencing this alongside countless other bugs as well.

Basically will not play until this game is patched again.

I deleted my save (only level 4 before I stopped playing), deleted the patches and deleted the game data from my PS3.

I'll await to see if any more patches come out before I play this game and if there are not I'm selling my copy of the game.

Looking over at the xBox forum, does look like this is the case. No consolation really, except perhaps the more people it affects the quicker they're likely to fix it... but honestly I find it absolutely incredible they didn't pull the plug on the PC/xBox patch - it's one thing releasing a patch with a bug you're unaware of, quite something else when you do it in full knowledge of the havoc you're about to unleash. Not cool, not cool at all :shakehead:

Xbox patch had to go through certification just like PS3, so there was nothing they could do with that. Perhaps this will allow them to eliminate the issue on the PC patch.

Right, but think about it, if it had to go through certification and was still in certification for basically a day AFTER the problems were noticed, then why not pull the plug on the patch? There's not much of a point in certifying something if you're just going to release it anyway is there? Do you honestly believe that the publisher doesn't have some line of communication with Microsoft to say "Oh wait, we've noticed the patch effs up resistances, so please don't push the patch out to people".

Case in point, the Mass Effect 3 content that was accidentally made available to 360 users beta testing the new fall dashboard update. At some point (within a few hours) someone noticed that it was available and shouldn't have been, and so it was pulled. What the hell is the difference? You say no, you don't let the patch go out when there's sufficient evidence to suggest it's going to mess everything up. Although that seems to be exactly what's happened. Evidently whoever's in charge of patches couldn't organise a piss-up at the Black Briar Meadery.

I actively want the 360 patch to go live and I'd even go as far as to say that PS3 and PC users kind of need the 360 patch to go live and be borked so that the lead SKU's users can gain a bit of empathy for what the lesser SKUs are experiencing.

I'm not saying that out of any kind of system wars BS but rather that it needs to happen so that more people will be crying out for patches which actually fix things and a cert process which doesn't completely exacerbate the inevitable problems by leaving potential fixes in limbo for weeks at a time.

1.2 being borked on the 360 further stokes the fire that PS3 and PC users have been trying to light under a seemingly inept and uncaring Bethesda.

I believe they too are experiencing this problem. Not on mass scale yet... but some are reporting.

A few people in the 360 forum are saying that armor rating is also broken.

Yeah, the patch really screwed the game up, The dragons flying backwards thing really blew my mind though, and not in a good way.

What a mess.. resistance broken here as well, still have not run into backward flying dragons, but I have seen some video's..

What a mess, Xbox 360, is an even bigger mess because the patch did not fix the lag, and break resistance and the dragons, it just flat out broke the game, stripping resistance..

I can live with the resistance being broken, but holy hell, man, who the hell is the smart guy over there letting this crap get released as patches?

What were they doing dikein around with resistance code anyhow?

my god, what a mess...

Bethesda, asked for this crap man..

Straight up asked for it...

I will be stunned and in awe, if this game gets GOTY, stunned and in awe..

I have never seen a patch release, break games.. When is the next patch in another 2 months now? Now you have to patch a patch in order to fix the game, wow what a waste of resources man.. Might want to assign someone else in the patching department, to save face man...

Calling this a "patch" is an insult to the meaning of the word. Bethesda released something more in line with a computer virus.

It's essentially unplayable now. And I'm not just saying that, since I should and would be playing it right now.

Just prior to the patch releasing, I thought the game was a bit on the easy side at the default level, so I switched to "Expert" and decided to give that a go. Seemed like a fair enough step up in difficulty as I actually had to think a little bit before just running into dungeon rooms and pulling several trash mobs.

Installed the patch, then went to tackle Dragon Priest Morokai last night. With 80% shock resistance I was getting one-shotted. Thought that was a bit...ermm...excessive, so I downgraded the difficulty back to adept. No difference. If he didn't one shot me he left me with just enough health to pop some pots and then one shot me immediately after that. Frustrating, but I was lucky enough to be able to exploit the battle a bit by waiting on the upper ledge by the exit steps and sniping him as he walked across that pathway leading from the 'altar' to the other half of the room. Threw a fire rune down there, hit him with a fire bolt, and he stopped in his tracks...just stood there and didn't engage while I slowly picked away at his health bar.

Shortly thereafter I noticed that my flame atronach was taking damage from my firebolts...which made using the atronach as a tank for the frost trolls outside the dungeon a little difficult to say the least.

Glad I found this forum to kinda clear things up...I thought I was going crazy when I figured my magic resistance was somehow broken. PLEASE fix this...I've been able to get by on the dragon battles, but damn...my mage is squishy enough as it is.

I'm formally retracting my previous statement that this should go live for 360 users.(which it did and PC) No one should have to deal with this even if it helps the rest of the community. :sadvaultboy:

i just remembered i'm playing on novice level.. but yeah.. dragon attacks i take liek a champ.. try putting it on novice and see if dragon breath owns ya... if it still does, sorry..

oh yeah! also noticed on novice level, follower element resistance works too.. low flame resistance moderate damage, higher frost resist, less moderate damage with respective element.. my game is weird and has a midn of it's own.. also i have not seen the dragon bug, yet, but then again i have also not ever seen ANY dragons randomly appear.. cept maybe once or twice, is a dragon suppose to appear durign the takign the pale quest when you and th eimperials rush the fort? also i have noticed the dragon animations are nowhere NEAR as smooth as pre patch..

So pretty much the resistance and affects are not working. I thought I was the only one noticing this. Seriously, I thought I was the only one until I actually read this thread. I have this Elven boots that gives me 40% resistance and I'm a Nord, so that's an additional 50% resistance. Total of 90% frost resistance, simple math right? Wrong. The game doesn't even apply it or maybe not even acknowledging it at all, even from the enemies. It's not just the player but others as well. I get killed by the dragon's ice breath in 3 seconds. Even though I can still kill a dragon or those who cast magic on me, it's still ridiculous.

I had a hard time killing the damn Forsworns at the Karthspire Camp. There was this one lady casting ice spikes at me and all of a sudden, bam, I'm dead in 2 seconds while I was healing Esbern and Delphine. Followers need to look into as well. They get hurt easily and die in the process. Especially getting hurt by a destruction magic.

Hahah same thing happened to me, a forsworn pillager at karthspire hurled this giant snow ball on my nord and he got instant killed, after my 20th failure against that single forsworn, my girlfriend told me to take a cold shower and sell my ps3

In comes a first level mage with ice vs 100th Level Nord mage masher.

Nord:  ..... RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. :zoom!:

I smell some fan art.

The three times I've had to fight the very first dragon, I've done it with ease. I play as a Dunmer, so the 50% resistance always comes in handy for that. Well, this time around, I had to burn(pun intended) through all of my healing potions and the fight seemed to last forever. Majority of the fight involved myself scurrying around inside the tower while my health rebuilt.

I stated in another thread that my experience with this game has been so bad, I have no desire for it any more. Skyrim will never be the Skyrim I waited for almost a year for. It will forever be just a game that sadly, I may never finish. Even if everything does get fixed 100%, my experience has been ruined.

Happened to me last night. I play a Nord and was repeatedly one shotted by a Foresworn Pillager using ice damage.

Guess I better not go after that Ice Wraith then for the StormCloaks.

How can a company makes things WORSE with a patch? Jeez!!!!!!!!!!!!!

answer is alot more simple then you think, they don't understand programming/computer logic, which consists of alot of "yes, no" tree's is this applied "no" then do this when doign this does this apply" yes" then do this.. ect ect.

You know, Murat91, instead of assuming the guy is lying, why don't you ask more questions. Like his save file size, the level he's playing at, his ps3 model, etc. Things that might pinpoint why he's not having problems and you are. He might be playing on the easiest level and it's not having the effect. Who knows? It beats sarcasm for pettiness sake.
