Game no longer recognizes my magic resistance after patch

Wow, playing Skyrim patched almost want me to wish for a nuclear gaming holocaust.

If they did, they did not do it well.

I've noticed this also.

I went from being a mage destroyer to being ridiculously weak against them. I've also experienced loads of lag since the patch.

I'm appalled by how bad Bethesda have been with this.

Is there any sort of legal action/petition to sign up to?

Don't you mean:

So my Khajiit Character now dies after a one hit kill against any magic attacks. I mean I hear the sound of a magic attack, and I'm flying across the room dead from one hit.

This is completely ridiculous. I can not fight anyone even with low magic. I die either in one hit or few hits. Each hit is taking over 200 hit points. I use to stand up the magic based characters well, now I can't even face them. One hit of any dragon attack and I'm dead.

REALLY< WHAT THE HELL! This has pretty much killed my character, and I can not move forward with the main storyline.......

This has completely broken my game. This is also my first time posting on these forums. This is complete b u l l s h i t.

Added:

I stuck it out through all the Fallout 3 and New Vegas bugs, but this is complete BS. This really has killed my faith in your company. I understand this is a large game, and there will be a few bugs, but this completely breaks the game play of the game...

Yeah, I'm dead in one hit from a Frost Dragon's breath now. Used to pwn those [censored]es. And I'm supposed to have 92% Frost Resistance.

If it is any consolation to those who think Bethesda hate PS3 users and that there is some sort of conspiracy against us, you'll be happy to know they broke the resistances on the Xbox too. And they even had forewarning of about 24 hours that this was a possibility and they still let the patch go through.

It's sad yesterday was the first day since release that I have not played the game and it was due to this patch. If asked by friends if they should buy the game, right now my answer would be no.

This isn't a break, it's a 'feature' to address the memory/framerate problem. By not having to 'remember' any magical resistances you're freeing up resources to improve framerate. Being facetious, of course...

I hit level 31 yesterday on my Dark Elf just after the patch was released. All day yesterday I was confused at how going from 30 to 31 made me so much more vulnerable to fire. I didn't even think about something happening to elemental resistance. Hope it gets fixed soon...those resistances are what draws me to Nords and Dark Elves in the first place.

Looking over at the xBox forum, does look like this is the case. No consolation really, except perhaps the more people it affects the quicker they're likely to fix it... but honestly I find it absolutely incredible they didn't pull the plug on the PC/xBox patch - it's one thing releasing a patch with a bug you're unaware of, quite something else when you do it in full knowledge of the havoc you're about to unleash. Not cool, not cool at all :shakehead:

Just throwing this out there but atronachs fire and ice were never immune to their element in my games pre patch. And ice bolts were always a 1-2 shot kill on me no matter my resistance to the element as a mage.
That was pre patch, although I can not verify on any other characters as I only have one mage character.

Also if it was the patch that caused this bug to be prevalent in all games, is actually also now effectin the xbox and pc it makes me wonder if they simply write the new patches for xbox and then port them over to the other systems. This could explain the graphics nerf and why the lag caused by long play time was not fixed.

I was wondering if getting the Atronach sign will help characters?

As it is absorption - not resistance.

Not ideal - but may make it playable for now.

Can't try it out. Too busy at work last few days.

I thought I was just being crazy/paranoid, but I'm glad (and sad) to see that I'm not.

I got my magic resistance up fairly high and dragons barely did any damage with their breath before the patch, but now I'm having to chug powerful healing potions at level 63 just to get through a fight with them or mages. This is fairly ridiculous... How the heck do you patch a memory leak and screw up the resistance stat in the process? :\

Just wanted to add another tick to the "no magic resists have broken the game for me" column. At lvl 51 on master I simply can't kill dragons (without chaining health pots).

This makes so much sense. I was very confused last night, because my wood elf, who never really has to worry about poison, kept getting poisoned by trap arrows while dungeon diving. I wonder if this also eliminates the werewolf's resistance to disease? I had to be very careful not to get 1 shot killed by magic users as well, but since I am a sneaky archer, it just meant I had to be better and more careful about my play method.

Yes, it effects werewolves. They can now contract diseases including vampirism that they were previously immune to.

Sweet so I can be a vampiric werewolf now! Then when they fix the issue I'll still be a mix hopefully...

Confirmed on me too. I haven't been able to fight dragons since the patch (they fly backwards as fast as the speed of sound away from me, like all dragons SHOULD do since I'm so bad-ass).

But mages chain casting ice spikes make me need to chug potions like mad and before I would swallow them. I'm a Breton with magic resist perks and gear; pre-patch I laughed at mages and I always play Atronach sign in my TES games.

I have the blocking perk that reduces magical damage 50% when blocked. Only it now doesn't.

Game is basically unplayable with this bug and the quest problems.

Unplayable for sure, experiencing this alongside countless other bugs as well.

Basically will not play until this game is patched again.

confirmed. Dragon breath one hit kills me no matter how much resistance I chug or equip. I have the block perk too, and with 50% from that, 50% from an elixir of resistance, 27% from a ring of resist, and 15% magic resist from the agent of Mara bonus I still roast in seconds. I would think that 142 % resistance would negate most breath damage?
Beth needs to fix this immediately.

registered on these forums just to add to this

Pre-patch my 85% magic resist +47% lightning, frost, fire resist allowed me to tank magic damage like crazy. Also, my conjured fire and frost atronachs were immune to damage of their same element.
Post-patch any dragon i encounter can 1 hit me with their breath and both fire and frost mages (haven't tested on lightning) down me in about 2 shots.
Also, my atronachs are no longer resistant to their respective elements.

I've got about 350hp and playing on PS3 Slim 160gb model.

Also, the patch fixed game lag for me.
