Hints found about the next DLC Found in 1.8 Beta

I've accepted the sad fact that not all games will have horses like the ones in Red Dead Redemption.
that requires an engine build around the very idea

Nothing at all on spears? I am disappoint.

These are just tiny tidbits added to the game files. There's no way this is everything the DLC will include.

Todd kept his word on his biggest promise, we have seen nearly half of this stuff now.

the best part about that song is that it actually sounds like Todd Howard's voice

Everything sounds great except for dragon mounts. I would rather they bring back levitation instead.

i would love levitation too, but what is wrong with dragon mounts? why all this hate from everyone? it's lore friendly and we already did it in the mainquest! with a cut-scene but was the samething, i just hope that they made the mechanics right  (just think about new robbaz videos showing dragon mounts in a viking way, just glorious >D)

He never promised any of it, and if I'm to be brutally honest, I think a lot of that stuff is downright stupid.
It's all gimmicky. It's there because it looks cool, sounds cool and gets attention, but when you actually utilize it, you get bored with it after 30 minutes and then you go do something else. Personally I would argue that crossbows are a more welcome addition than the vampire lord form, and as this thread clearly shows, the new armor types seem to be more welcome than the dragon mount.

Some of them would be welcome, don't get me wrong. The lore obviously cries for werebears, gimmicky or no, and spears would be another welcomed combat style. The others though?

Dragon mounts are gimmicky.
Adoption is gimmicky.
The vampire lord form, partly due to it's implementation, is gimmicky.

Personally I just wish they would pick a point of focus and....focus on it! Skyrim is desperately trying to be everything under the sun, and failing miserably at it. The Elder Scrolls has always gotten praise for having a large scope of things to do, yes, but they're taking this too far now. Things they implement need purpose, and sadly most of the stuff in that vid and in the DLCs so far? It's only purpose is roleplaying. Yes, it is a roleplaying game, but not everyone wants to roleplay a father and not everyone wants to roleplay a vampire lord. Those people walk away disappointed. In that sense, worrying about giving things a purpose and meaning instead. That's what Skyrim needs to learn to do.

Solstheim eh? While it will be awesome seeing all the dunmer developments there (and riding a dragon!), part of me is a little disappointed that we're revisiting an old location.

I played that game before and I was impressed by how well they worked. I was surprised they worked so well because Rockstar really had no experience with horse programing before that game. In the next Elder Scrolls game I hope Bethesda is smart enough to have some of the people over at Rockstar that did the horses. To help Bethesda program their horses.

Red Dead Redemption's horses are hardly the paragon of horse 'programming' you make them out to be. :yuck:

A lot of people wanted to go back to solstheim. In every future DLC discussion someone always brought up solstheim.

i am pretty sure those ain't Birthsigns but those Stones that you had to visit in Bloodmoon to restore All-Maker's favor over the Skaal by immitating what Aevar Stone-Singer did (the Water, Earth, Beast, Tree, Sun and Wind stones). Wonder if they will be bonuses or Quest locations again.

I don't give a rats about dragon mounts, but this time I'm going to defend Beth for once; after so many were whining about dragon mounts, Beth is just trying to please those folks. I guess like some poster said once, "Poor Beth, they can't win either way".

Was it really that great of an area? I thought Mournhold was more impressive.

It was. It was by far the best part of morrowind for me. The references to "Beowulf" to the mead hall attack and building my own colony was the highlights of Morrowind for me.
