Meet the New Vegas Companions

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:27 pm

I am abit bummed there don't seem to be any particular vicious bastards on that list like Vulpes Inculta.

I'm going to feel weird siding with CL with what seem to be a relatively decent group of people to pick from.

Seems like I'm going with only ED-E for my first(sniper) playthrough. His perks sounds really cool. I'd choose Rex, but I don't want some dog following me around.

Looks like a good list, as much as I love Fallout 3(still playing), I found the companions to be more of a hinderance than a help, I hope these are better behaved, even if I play a psychotic maniac I want them out of ny way until I give the orders.

I actually liked Fallout 3's companions, Gamebryo seems to be being stretched to lits limits.Jericho is a dead on marksman, he almost never gets in the way of my shots. Unlike Oblivion's meatshields and Morrowind's unmentionable mountainclimbers...

The missing ninth companion is Azrael Babyroaster, a cybernetically-enhanced human-deathclaw hybrid powered by childhood innocence.

(not really)

Sadly I don't have a Pc that could run New Vegas (Laptop) but I gurantee this will be Modded into it because of this comment

Azrael Babyroaster
Evil Karma
Child At Heart Perk

Also there has been a lot of Cybernetical Enhancement references in some articles...and is "Fiend" a type of enemy?

Wait a minute. Rose of Sharon Cassidy. Cassidy.
http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=1&showentry=140
For Fallout New Vegas, Josh broke down the companion personalities and assigned them to designer he felt showed strengths in those character backgrounds - for example, understanding of certain psychological conditions, or (in my case) because I'd written the father of one of the companions, or because the person has a fluid storytelling style (Travis Stout, which is only one of his strengths), which makes him great for characters with campfire stories to share.

And MCA wrote Cassidy in F2.

Obsidian, how can you do this? I'm so torn now!... Wait, I don't have to be, there is modding support!

Alright! These companions are awesome!
Believe it or not, even the majority of the Psychos at NMA like them. Now thats saying something!

OMG, Cassidy's daughter, I hope we hear about what happened to him, he was a funny character, always giving commentary, not to mention a total badass.

The companions all look cool! I'm planning to save up some alcohol and go on a week-long bender with Cass. I like the perks... I think I'll hire and fire and rehire most of them on my first playthrough.

Yeah, I bet Cass is the last offspring of his before he ventured to search for the mystical land of Texas. ^_^

I'm a bit worried that Boone's Spotter perk might break my immersion a bit, every enemy glowing red when I aim down my sights just seems... well... helpful, but jarring.... Will I be able to turn this off or somehow make it less noticeable (assuming it's a big red HOLY SH*T! ENEMY!)? I've been planning on using Boone as my companion since I first learned he was a sniper, now I'm not so sure...

xD a Granny Super Mutant just what I needed!

So now we know who the companion in Primm is, ED-E . I like the sound of him and Rex but as far as humans go I'll take Craig Boone. :gun:

Gotta say though, if this is complete, any CL fans just got screwed.

why? Of the eight companions how many are ncr and how many are house/people of new vegas?

I heard Arcade Gannon used to be a Enclave Trooper. Sounds cool.

What happens if you have a companion and meet one of the others? Does dialogue just change and the option to recruit or do their mission is greyed out?

None currently are, but I doubt any of them are fans of the CL. Which could cause some issues.

Boone hates em.
BoS probably wishes they'd go away, and Veronica seems a bit more decent, so I doubt she will.
Arcade probably understands them, but dislikes their methods.
Lily is probably indifferent.
Raul and Cass probably are against their ideals as well. Raul seems like he wouldn't care. Cass is human, and isn't a fan of the NCR, but most likely won't like CL either.

So, yeah, they do seem a bit screwed.

Kiebler I appreciate your 3rd person opinion on that matter rather than being biased. I certainly hope this list isn't complete. Don't get me wrong they will serve me on around a third or a half of my playthroughs but the other part I'm not so sure.

Most of them are probably indifferent to the Legion. Boone is the only one known to have a real hatred for them.

Damn... They gave us a companion from Jacobstown, butt they gave us the wrong one. Pretty much everyone wanted Marcus and we ended up with Granny Nightkin. Oh well, at least we still get some pretty decent companions.

No prob. I'm going into the game open minded. Plus, I don't really like any of the factions. I like being a wild card. They all seem interesting, but it's fun to serve no one and see where that takes you. Add to that, that I rarely use companions.

Like I mentioned, it seems like evil players are getting hosed. Though, that happens alot in games, so it doesn't surprise me.

I think he's just telling you where to shoot or where the enemies are with his rifle. It's like a sniper team. One spots one shoots.

No, I know that, it says the targets will glow red, that's my dispute with the perk.

You're amazing.

But, I would like to have a camera handy if you were to say that to Danny.

Ghost, it will probably be an outline. Like a VATS outline, minus the use of VATS.
