I just summoned a Flame Atronach and tried using a fire spell on it. Is it supposed to say something about Resisting Fire Attacks in the top left corner of the screen? Cause mine did NOT do that.

Yep, that's the bug. Flame Atronachs can be damaged by fire spells with patch 1.2.

New probs with 1.2, my house in Whiterun the Fireplace is causing really weird shadows everywhere. Infact they look terrible. I'll upload screenshots when I have time but so far on the cabinet next to the fire pit you can see some awful shadows. Also on any NPCs you bring in you can see some awful reflections on them. So far this is just the cooking pit area in Breezehome in Whiterun. If i encounter it anywhere else I will also post it.

this bug isnt caused by the 1.2 patch, i had it since day one

it looks like a black wireframe or mesh around your character yes?

and true to your statement it only happens in Breezehome

i think the main issue with this game is them saying they ran it through some 'new automated bug finder' thing whatever the hell that means...............THAT 'NEW' STATE OF THE ART BUG FINDER MUSTVE HAD A BUG OF ITS OWN THAT SIMPLY DIDNT DETECT BUGS.......

kinda funny in its own regard huh

edit: maybe they should start hiring professionals who have experience in programming instead of interns writing an experimental 'bug finder'................where is CD Projekt RED when ya need em

With this patch its almost impossible to control where I am looking, even a slight nudge of the mouse and I'm staring at the ground or at the sky.

I tried turning the Look Sensitivity down to minimum but it doesn't help.

The game is unplayable when you try to focus on a monster but end up staring at the ground or sky.

Only issue I've seen so far is the magic resistances not taking into effect, otherwise the game is working fine for me and I just got done playing for a few hours.

To anyone with issues, delete your .inis and disable mods, these are likely behind most of the problems being reported.

To anyone with issues, delete your .inis and disable mods, these are likely behind most of the problems being reported.

No mods or modified .ini files here. Had the following issues:

No magic resistances.
Bookshelves broken as soon as books were removed.
Game no longer remembered what weapons I had equipped in left/right hand when I equipped my bow then clicked on one of the two weapons I was wielding beforehand to re-equip them.

Minor issues, but the first one is a gamebreaking one, and needs a hotfix.

No backward dragons, crashes, FPS issues, or inability to use the Y axis here. < These issues might very well be the result of a previously modified game, however. Also, using the unofficial 4gb loader for the game, which still works in 1.2, and removes 99% of the crashes I got before I started using it.

Nevertheless, I have reverted to 1.1 using the steps in this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1299365-unofficial-pc-12-rollback-seems-to-work-for-me/ for now. Seems safer. Here's hoping for a hotfix.

I've noticed that one of the issues that was supposed to be fixed was supposed to be the occasional Dragons not giving up their souls upon death. However, the very first dragon I killed after the patch didn't give up it's soul. It's something I've run across about 7 or 8 times before the patch.

I've also noticed that some of the keyboard shortcuts have changed (take all, rotate lock, etc.) though they still list the incorrect key in the UI. So it's still wrong... just different wrong.

Graphics-wise, I haven't noticed any changes (that is, overall it seems fine other than the odd texture hiccup). FPS seems to be about the same (nothing glaring at least).

I did encounter a bit of strangeness in about the first 5 min or so where my Stamina usage while sprinting was something like 5x normal. But after those 5 min it somehow reverted back to normal.

So far, that's about it.

After reading this thread, I just reverted back to 1.1. Keep note the [Restore] button does not work. You will have to use the [Copy] button, instead.

Also, any Vista users can use http://www.shadowexplorer.com/ to access previous files. ;) I also highly recommend upgrading to Windows 7(or buying a new computer). Windows Vista was terrible!

Game looks even worse, is drawing more power.

Prior to this patch:
Launching the game instantly pegs my GPU (EVGA GTX470 Superclock) temp at around 65-66. Very unusual, no other game does this (I idle at around 39, most games get me to about 60). Water cooled CPU, dynamic fanspeed for dual-fan GPU, Corsair push pull tower with absurd airflow. Fans in this case steady at around 85-90%.

Now:
Game goes straight to 70. While playing wanders around between 72-74. Fans at 95%+. All while looking worse. Going into menus, temp creeps up past 75, fans at 99%.

This is not normal. This very likely has something to do with why so many people are getting BSOD's and CTD's. This is especially strange since the game seems to use my CPU more than my GPU in general. While it is true that most hardware can handle these temps and that amount of power draw for extended periods, and mine certainly can, this system was purpose built to stay low temp and stable. With this game however...

Gaming PC used as an overpiced XBox emulator. Yay.

I confirmed the resistance issues using the console:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1299511-testing-dragons-and-elemental-resistances-for-pc-users-on-patch-12-need-unpatched-people/

I even reverted back to a saved copy of Skyrim to see if the issue disappeared, and it did. From my findings:

- The problems with resistances not working is in TESV.exe (hence probably a broken function)

- The problems with racial resistance perks not showing up and not being applied is in Update.esm (this should be fixable with TESnip, but there's no point since the resistances don't work anyway)

I used Icy Spear for its high damage for my testings.

Well, I thought I would resist downloading the patch so I disabled automatic update and restarted Steam. I then went into offline mode.

The Launcher menu came up, but the game would not run. Wouldn't even start. So I re-enabled online mode and when Steam restarted it automatically downloaded the new patch. That was late in the afternoon Wednesday, Central time.

I checked the file and the version is 1.2.12.0.

I wonder if they slipstreamed in a newer patch?

The first thing I noticed was that remapped keys appeared to be working.

So, what was "fixed" about hotkeys? I still cannot change to a weapon in the left hand using hotkeys, the hotkeys just switch the weapons in the right hand, so if I use dual spell to heal, I need to open the favorite o inventory menu to equip dual weapons, every single time I heal.

Steam installed the 1.2 patch for me earlier this evening. Read on the forums about how horrible it is. Gave it a try. Performance wise I have no problems at all. Really didn't see any bugs that others were claiming. However, I have run into a couple problems after playing for about 2 hours.

1) I am Crashing To Desktop MUCH more frequently. Three times in 2 hours. With Patch 1.1 I'd CTD once every 2-3 days.
2) I did see a dragon spin in a tight, fast circle. But otherwise dragons are behaving fine (souls absorb right, etc).
3) Had some Imperial Soldiers chase me around telling me to speak up and such over and over. LOL I think they were bugged and trying to arrest me but never initiated a locked conversation. They just kept badgering me repeatedly (uploading video to YouTube).
http://youtu.be/cUtxAwRYUto?hd=1
4) Frost Resistance appears useless. I have like 21% Frost Resist on some armor. Also used a 30% potion. A single NPC using a frost attack on me was DESTROYING me. Two shots could kill me (L38, 220 Health, Dunmer).

/\ at this point the only question is if they will admit to the huge memory leak and duping processes or if they will just continue to play dumb.

If i encounter it anywhere else I will also post it.

in a response to my previous reply to your post, here is a screenshot i dug up of the bug in action.........and as i stated before, this bug has happened since the initial release of the game. it wasnt something new introduced in the 1.2 patch. this screenshot was taken using only the day 1 update back when i first bought breezehome, patch 1.2 wouldnt even let the game start

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/443/breezehomeshadowbugib.jpg/

nice shadows indeed...........man that automated state of the art bug finder they talked so much about is the best thing since..........well you get the idea

bethesda, word of advice, FIX THE BUG IN YOUR 'BUG FINDER' TO WHERE IT ACTUALLY DETECTS BUGS BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR ENTIRE GAME THROUGH IT AND THINK ITS PERFECT...............OR BETTER YET, USE SOME REAL PEOPLE TO DO THE TESTING!!!!

Just to update. I said that after the update the game kept crashing. I realized that it was happening with audio events such as a dragon's roar. I then noticed an "X" across the volume control, the popup message was "Audio service not running.." though the audio seemed fine. I reinstalleld the AMD HDMI driver, and that did it!~ Not a single crash in over an hour. So audio problems will cause crashes, but that X-d volume control was not there yesterday....

So, what was "fixed" about hotkeys? I still cannot change to a weapon in the left hand using hotkeys, the hotkeys just switch the weapons in the right hand, so if I use dual spell to heal, I need to open the favorite o inventory menu to equip dual weapons, every single time I heal.
i said key remapping. I remapped the [R] key and before only some functions went to the new key. For example "Take All" was still the [R] key but "Drop" was the new key (it wouldn't allow me to remap it to the mouse at all.)

As for the number keys they always worked this way for me: 1st press armed the left hand, second press armed the right. In this manner it was possible to put any spell in any hand, I have not found a way to remove spells, only replace them,

The game will often remove spells during quests..

My main menu is now blank, no options (continue, load, save, options, etc). My system specs in the spoiler.

This is caused by some third-party mods. I think specifically Val's Smithing Mod. Remember the modders making ESPs are currently needing to use educated guesses on how to make them.

so i just got home (from a UNI exam) and have to post what i found out this morning when i updated :
1. Pre 1.2 i was getting CTD when memory usage was >834000+ Kb or 814+ MB, with v1.2 i didn't even get that far (CTD average 650000Kb)!!!
2. Pre v1.2 the CAP 2 actually degraded performance on my system (Win 7 64bit, 8gb DDR3 G-skill @ STOCK 1333, AMD x840 quad core - [yes i know, it has no L3 cache but is only 5-10% worse than the middle of the quad black eds when stock, OC radeon 6770 and some decent Seagate HDDs) - I BENCH 650+ in the Uengine Heaven with normal tessellation and everything else cranked in HD at 1366x768 (monitors max res.. dammit, if only i spent 50 more on a 24"). Post 1.2 Cap seems to matter less but i have noticed an extra 5FPS on average improvement... not sure why
3. New skyrim LAA method works
4. Haven't had a chance to run into any of the reported bugs, will post if/when i do, check out the LAA memory usage screens on FB @ https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150396962540905.350698.501215904&type=1&l=af76c0d18a and also will be uploading some more skyrim vids to my YouTube - @thedevilcomes2011

I can't even get the launcher to work without just crashing, and this is on a fresh install since my hard drive decided to die last night.
