Payment Model

You figure? Well, I can either hope the Devs disagree, or I won't be touching it. Shame, it looked decent.

I'll just have to pray that they keep making Single Players, so I can just discard it next to Redguard and Battlespire, rather than hate it until the end of time (if it killed the ES name)

If it's a fantastic game I don't understand whatsoever why you would let a tiny monthly fee stop you from playing the game but oh well, to each their own, you'll really be missing out though.

And you already said that last line like 3 times throughout this thread, no reason to keep copying and pasting it because we get it.

Also, please start multi quoting and stop spamming.

You won't have to worry about that. ZeniMax Online Studios is making ESO so that Bethesda Game Studios can continue to make the single player TES series that we all love so dearly.

Sarthis Indarys, you are aware that you can multi quote right and respond to multiple posts in a single post? It would be really nice if you could do this as it wouldn't push the thread up so much and reduce the amount of spam.

Thanks.

I was not aware I could do that. However, I would ask what exactly the ESO Forums consider spam. I had always felt it was things like nonsensical/trolling posts. Not replying to peoples points with points of ones own.

If they define Spam as not using the Multi-quote function.... This is a very.... Interesting forum.

Please don't start this again.

MMO crowd are hypnotised by WoW's big bosses - unable to stop paying subs and putting their fingers in their ears and singing blissfully in the face of the overwhelming success of B2P Guild Wars 2 which updates regularly.

B2P or broke.

"4. Spamming/Cross-posting are not allowed.

Spam is the posting of advertisemants, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet forums. Off topic comments, or posts that have little or no relevance to the subject being discussed, repetitive threads or a post that does not contribute to the thread such as "inb4the lock" or other "playing at being a moderator" posts are all considered spam on this forum. There is a report button bottom left of every post, please use it if you are concerned about a post or topic.

Bumping, or posting to bring your thread to the front is also considered spam here. If you have asked a question and it has not been answered, please be patient. If it falls to the third page or so, you may post to bring it forward once after several hours but doing so more than once will get your topic closed and a warning for spam.

Crossposting is asking the same question via starting a topic in more than one section of this forums. This is not allowed. Please note the different sections and try to post in the appropriate section.
Should you realize you have posted in the wrong section, please ask a moderator to move it by using the report button to ask. The moderators will be happy to assist you with getting it to the appropriate section.

Furthermore, please do not post in ALL CAPS as it's rude and spammish. This goes for posts and thread subjects; thread subjects also shouldn’t have gimmicks and what not intended to catch people’s attention, such as starting and ending it with a string of asterisks."

I don't mean like that, it's just the moderators keep a very strict 200 post limit on the threads and by multi quoting and replying to everything in one post you'd increase the time it will take for this thread to hit the post limit as well as not just filling up the pages with your own replies and therefore making it easier for others posts to be seen rather than people wading through a sea of your own posts just to find those by a different person, if you get what I mean.

The easiest way to reply to anything around here is just use the reply box at the bottom of the page and if you want to reply to a bunch of posts just hit the quote button on all of them and they will all be quoted into the reply box for you to organize and reply to at your leisure.

You've said "Start multi quoting" about three times, you are hardly in a postion to use the "no reason to keep copying and pasting it because we get it" line. I'd also repeat (Oh delicious hypocrisy) the fact that if this forum considers not using Multi-Quote, but still responding to people with legitimate posts addressing their points, spam.... I am amazed.

Now, a question, can I add a Multi-Quote to my previous posts after I have posted them? I ask as in most instances I am quoting in several different posts as the new quotes came up while I was writting the old ones (As such, I would have to quote a post in a reply I was writing to a different post, before I had even seen that this new post existed)

Ok, I'll keep that in mind, but again, is there any way I can add new quotes to my posts after they have been made, so as to catch the ones that are made while I am writing (Such as if a new one I want to quote pops up right now) in a single post?

Oh! I forgot to add! I wouldn't touch it because, I may sound stupid, but I really do not like the principle of PvP. It's funny, because in a B2P, I may end up pouring lots and lots more money into a cash shop to buy gold. But it is my choice. That is the big thing to me.

Pay Monthly = Mandatory.

I'd compare it to having to take Arts classes as a Science student or Science classes as an arts student. You HAVE to if you want to graduate. Hell, I can use me as an example. I'm was arts student and I had to take science classes to graduate. I took the simplest one possible and hated it because I was being forced into it.

I have since read a whole bunch of Science books that I enjoy, but it was my choice to study the topic, not something that was being forced upon me.

It must sound silly, I know, but Choice vs. Mandatory is a big deal to me ;D

Yes, you can edit your post. We're getting off topic here... but don't post two times in a row. You can simply edit your post. If someone posts after you post, then you should just make a new post. This is the best way to do it.

Look at the example up top... you could have just edited your post to include the new quote and answer. <<< Just as this is edited in after seeing you posted twice in a row.

Addin cash shop items might not be damaging on short term, but the dev's require extremely self control to not add items like in other games

in one online game (dekaron) you upgrade your wep/armor to +9, ofc 1-4 stages are easy, 4-7 are very hard and, 8-9 are near impossible with the risk of losing the entire item in the process (IIRC it has a 5% chance for +9)

Anyway what did they do? Oh lets put cash item in there that ups the chances to +18% that also stack with some other buffs, in the end nearing 40%chances...

There's no need to be rude or hostile about it in any form, the only reason I mentioned it multiple times was because this thread is moving so fast I was unsure if it would even catch your attention.

As to replying to something posted a few seconds after your own post, if it's not down at the bottom of the page then simply quote it, copy and paste it and edit your previous post and paste it in there and then reply, it takes all of 5 seconds generally unless the forums are being slow.

Anyway though lets get back on topic now shall we? :P

You can actually edit your posts to include quotes.

Just click quote for the post you want to quote. Copy the text from the reply box. Then go to your previous post and click edit. Paste in the quote and add your reply underneath it. It should edit the post with a nice little quote in the middle of it.

Obviously it wouldn't make sense to do that for posts that have been made after your last post but you can keep things tidy that way.

Honestly I wish the mods would ban payment model threads until the model is actually announced.

There is nothing left to discuss until we know what they're going with.

That's true to an extent, until we do get news threads on this subject are pretty much just back and forth debates between which forms are better generally based upon peoples own opinions, personal preferences and views.

Yep. I've figured out this multi-post thing. Thank you all for the guidance.

I'd agree. But upon discovering this forum, I realized a lot of my other concerns about the game had been answered with myself being completely unaware of the fact. I was just wondering if anyone had any hints I hadn't heard of.

It sort of spiralled from there.

I do have a question for all the people who prefer PvP though... If the game was F2P or B2P, would you still play it? (I just ask as some people seem to have very strong opinions towards B2P)

If it's tiny or not depends on how many hours you are able to play in month. I personally would prefer something else than monthly fee. I would rather buy game-hours on my account and use them when I can than paying monthly and have my gaming time running off when I'm unable to have time for playing. But the best way would be just to buy the game once and then play it. If they'll put prize high enough there's no need for other fees. If it's a fantastic game I don't understand why you would let enormous prize to stop you from playing the game if with that you will be free from all other fees.

Certain games will try to milk cash off you, regardless of the payment model. But all pay-to-play games milk cash off you.

I place 5 Starwars on it being buy-to-play. :starwars: :starwars: :starwars: :starwars: :starwars:

Not all F2P games. A lot of MMOs are doing F2P right.
I'd be happy and very willing to try others to change my mind on this. But, so far, despite really wanting to find a great F2P to play long-term, I have not yet found one uneffected by those doggone points stores or content you have to pay for beyond a certain level despite the game initially being advertised as F2P. And it's not that I'm looking for a totally free game, but then don't advertise it as such if it really is not one. People have to get paid for their work, I get that, but hidden costs are killers when you are going along all happy-like and then suddenly find you cannot progress further without dropping $10-$30 to upgrade your boat/equipment/content.

Aion: Ascension, Planetside 2, Lineage 2 (never played it, so I'm not too sure), or Tera Online (will be F2P next month). All free-to-play, no hidden costs.

Thats because they can't hold a healthy population. Its not the payment model that did that to them, its bad game design. PS2 is just garbage and I feel sorry for EQnext fans because it will follow the same model on the same engine.

No. It's the payment model - not bad game design. They have perfectly fine game design.
