PS3 Release for Dawnguard #33

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:30 am

This latest silence from Bethesda reminds me of when my daughters were little - when they had done something they knew was naughty or was going to get them into big trouble they suddenly went very quiet, I could always tell by this sudden silence that something was amiss

Bethesda as a company acts like children - when they do something new it's always "hey look what I did", "look at me, look, look watch, watch this!", but when they misbehave or fail all you get is shuffling feet and silence followed by mumbled excuses

Just a thought perhaps Tweet Hines is off to japan to go see Sony

@ the bold, that would be nice. What would be a hoot is if when asked by ol' Tweet what they suggest he do to fix this mess, Sony reps confurred for a few min and then reply one word, "tanto".

and i thought my day couldn't get worse *turns on ps3* okay there's an update *updates ps3 goes in store* "oh gawd my eyes... who the hell set it to 800x400 dimensions, ah god it's like trying to use an iPhone on my 65" HDTV.... well yeah that generalizing my morning followed by ... hmm no dawnguard yet... guess i'll go make some eggs and toast for breakfast.

I wonder if when Tweet lands he finds Sony have plastered the place with wanted posters of him all held up with ninja stars.

I think it's safe to say no dlc will be coming to ps3 given the silence.

PS3 User: Look, I don't think it should be a sin, just for saying "DLC".
[Everyone gasps]
Bethesda Official: You're only making it worse for yourself!
PS3 User: Making it worse? How can it be worse? DLC! DLC! DLC!
Bethesda Official: I'm warning you! If you say "DLC" one more time (gets hit with rock) RIGHT! Who did that? Come on, who did it?
Stoners: She did! She did! (suddenly speaking as men) He! He did! He!
Bethesda Official: Was it you?
Stoner: Yes.
Bethesda Official: Right...
Stoner: Well you did say "DLC. "
[Crowd throws rocks at the stoner]
Bethesda Official: STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT RIGHT NOW! STOP IT! All right, no one is to stone _anyone_ until I blow this whistle. Even... and I want to make this absolutely clear... even if they do say, "DLC. "

Does anybody know why PS3 users are getting the standard 'We're still working on it' response?'. I mean is it a legal thing to protect Bethesda from legal reprecussions, like as an example if they said 'It'll be here in 12 months' and 12 months came and went they could get sued, or is it more of a trying to protect the Bethesda rep thing, or is it just because they don't give a frag about PS3 users?

Is there a method to their madness or is it just being a d-hole for the sake of it?

Stringing us along until we all get bored and go away. When all the other good games that run well on PS3 come out and nobody cares about Skyrim anymore. Won't be long now.

You know what, I am not really that type of person but remember, that supposed note from 1.8 beta , about PS3 downloadble content, why do I start to think they put it there just to troll us? Anyway could someone tell me how big was delay between xbox and pc and ps3 , because I start to think that at best we will have to wait for another combine patch that will break game more,
Also, I hate the guys that say that we should get things for free, but maybe Bethesda should just come out and say that they don't know what to do, and as apology make some deal with sony and release, Fallout 3 or Oblivion in Playstation plus, it worked for frozenbyte, and they were just late with patch ...

oh gosh I svck at this sort of thing but I have seen people detail it perfectly as recently as thread #32 if I recall correctly - someone with tyrone in their username If memory serves - let me see if I can find the post for you.

At your service - what can I do? Point me anywhere you think my skills would be useful. I've made some inroads in a few places, but nothing that is ready to share. Any other ideas of where these grievances could be aired are welcome.

Hello everyone.

For those of you who don't know me...i have been on this forum since Dawnguard was first released for 360.

I see many people getting upset about the new Dragonborn DLC and how it only has info on Xbox.

I would like to remind everyone of a few things...

#1. Skyrim Patch 1.8 is still in beta...and has been for a while now. There are lines of code in that PATCH that looks to allow DLC for PS3 to actually work.
Until we get patch 1.8....we cant get ANY DLC.

#2. When patch 1.8 is released....we should be able to get DLC for PS3 users.

#3. Bethesda has nothing to comment on at the moment because they do not have any indication if any DLC will work because patch 1.8 has NOT been released yet.

#4 I BELIEVE that patch 1.8 will be released BEFORE Dragonborn DLC. There are lines of code for patch 1.8 to allow certain things in Dragonborn (dragon riding) to be able to work on skyrim.

So... Focus on us getting Patch 1.8 first....because without that...we cant get anything new.

Make sure you are asking the right questions....

When is Patch 1.8 scheduled for release?

Again...i have always been on the optimistic side of things...but this isn't just optimism...these are facts.

Thanks again,

Storm

Not gonna nit-pick on minor details, but i agree with Stormy's take on waiting til 1.8 patch hits before going completely crazy.

We were trying to get together a comprehensive and coherent complaint to put together regarding Bethesda's treatment of PS3 Skyrim, from the beginning promises made and subsequently broken, the releasing of a very buggy game , late patches no DLC or communication etc. for BBC Watchdog - http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/

They fought EASports for FIFA 13 players and got things fixed and a lengthy explanation and apology from them - wondered if they were pointed at Bethesda's treatment of us they might at least get some acceptable answers and mainstream media coverage for us.

Hi Storm,

1.8 came out of beta last week on Steam.

I appreciate the optimism, but remember: 1.7/1.7 was supposed to prep the PS3 for Dawnguard, and it did not. Yes, there was a line of code in the beta 1.8 file that alluded to enabling the DLC menu option on PS3. Not to temper your optimism, but that could mean any number of things.

1. It could be an old line of code, simply not removed for the latest patch (not uncommon).
2. It could be that the line will be activated, as further "proof" that Bethesda is "working on it" - but this does not guarantee that something will eventually come of it.
3. As myself and others have pointed out, Bethesda is staring down the barrel of some pretty hefty consequences on this one. With the games they've been playing with semantics and evasion - do not be surprised to see a weapons pack, the "barber", new beasts, etc be released as PS3 DLC. This would satisfy the main legal obligation they're currently coming up short on (delivering a product as described in its packaging). It would also signal their departure from the PS3 market, but I think we can see it heading that way already.

Again, I'm not here to rain on any parades, and I admire your optimism, but I don't want to see anyone disappointed by the outcome of another game of "follow the patch."

I understand what you are saying....

What i am saying is.......nothing is going to change with PS3 DLC until some patch is released. Patch 1.8 has coding about PS3 DLC.......
judging what the line of code says...it appears that the DLC menu is being added to the Main Menu.

Again...i may be wrong....but we wont know anything until Patch 1.8 is released. :)

Give me a little time, and I'm on it. I have some information gained in my personal dealings with Bethesda, and others, that could help with this as well. Thanks for the direction.

MainList.entryList.push({text: "$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" + (iPlatform == 3 ? "_PS3" : ""), index: StartMenu.DLC_INDEX, disabled: false});

Is the exact line of code i am talking about

It appears that the DLC menu for PS3 had been disabled when skyrim was released on 11 11 11

This code appears to make the DLC menu visible...... the word "false" at the end implies that it is enabling the DLC menu.

if the last word was "true" that would mean that the DLC menu would be disabled. :)

If patch 1.8 is released...

Ugh. Can you please bottle some of that optimism and send it my way?

Thanks!

No THANK YOU for offering to help - I'm fairly good at finding where to complain and who to, but when it comes to putting the complaint into words I'm useless

BTW got you on twitter

if the last word was "true" that would mean that the DLC menu would be disabled.

Doesn't mean they can't or indeed won't change that false to true before final release to PS3 - it's so easy to enable/disable things inside codes its almost scary

I'll be willing to wait till 1.8 hits. If the DLC menu on the PS3 is enabled by the3 patch then "MAYBE" that could mean they are getting somewhere.

BUT if Bethesda was really anywhere close to having things ready to go for the PS3 wouldn't Tweet Hines of GStaff say something about it? Especially when they're catching so much flak for this latest trailer? Personally, I choose to not be too optimistic over it until somebody from Bethesda actually says something to give me hope.

I'm unfortunate enough to be in Europe and last to get everything :(.... guess I could twiddle my thumbs with some more level creating on LBP2 while I wait... or scrimp up some pennies to buy AC3

I could always send you the patch data. Not hard to email it :P

I just made a Weapon Master. He will master two-handed and singal-handed perks as well as Sheild Blocking, Archery and Armorer as you can make weapons...

That guy probably would have been great friends with my Master Craftsman.

No that's true, but my ps3 would probably blow up if I accessed the emailed patch data through the built in internet connection.. or I know I could burn it to a data disk or DvD and try and install that way

So, does anyone know if gstaff has answered anything but "softball" questions in the blog forum yet?

BTW, for the previous poster a few pages back:

Did you ever find out what was up with the game store clearing the shelves of Skyrim?
