PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #27

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:26 pm

Nobody has said they couldn't, but they had do it for a reason... and the most logical reason is they either have solved or think they can solve the PS3 issues. They don't just add stuff for the sake of adding stuff.

Nobody is trying to convince anyone, this code was found and people presented it to the PS3 players so the can make there own opinion. You obviously don't know anything about code, and I'm no expert but I have done some coding before but this is pretty clear as to what is means. You can take that however you want. I'm just saying it makes the odds more likely that DLC will come to the PS3 because there really no other reason that Beth would include that code.

Not that it will come.

Coby makes a good point guys. I mean Beth knows that the PC gamers look inside the patches to see if there is anything of intrest that's how they knew about DG before it was annouced. Beth probaly has an idea if DLC is coming to PS3 but until I can get that confirmed from GStaff then it's just written code that has no value.

And yes the menu entry for DLC could very well be in 1.06 on PS3 but simply disabled entirely so as to not even be displayed but greyed-out. That's what I'm getting at as the timeline for patches on PC and 360 are similar but not so at all for the last few patches in regards to PS3. 1.06 PS3 is post-1.7 PC/360 so a line or two found in 1.8 beta on PC could very well already exist in the stitched together 1.06 on PS3.

It could, but your not acknowledging that "disabled: false" means it not disabled in "this" code. Had it been present in 1.6 it should have read as "disabled: true". So there is some reason they either added or changed this code in the 1.8 beta and the only reason that makes sense is they plan to add DLC to PS3.

Assuming they don't change it again or take it out for the final official 1.8 patch.

The entry would be "disabled:false" during the testing process as you are trying to get DLC working on PS3.

You obviously don't know anything about me. I might not know anything about console code, but I've had more than my fair share of code in the past when I played and helped run MUD's.

This isn't a code issue, it's what you said "they're at least trying something". Well, that's great that they are but it doesn't mean they haven't tried stuff in the past.

All I'm saying is this: It's nothing until it's something. Show me something.

That's basically what I'm saying as well as of course the DLC would be enabled on PS3 when you have supposedly been working on as much for the past few months. That, however, doesn't mean jack-squat in terms of DLC actually either working or even coming to PS3 and especially not in regards to a beta patch on another platform.

Some seem to be trotting this out as proof while I view it as false hope manifested as leftovers from trying and likely failing to get DLC working on PS3.

That could be a good point.

However I don't see what an DLC index has to do with testing the DLC. The Index doesn't enable the DLC or anything, mainly it just tells you what DLC you have installed. But It is a good point. Still increases your odds though. :teehee:

It was never my intention to show you something, obviously I don't work for Beth. I was just pointing out something that could mean DLC will come. Nothing more than that.

I wasn't targetting that last comment at you in any way. I appreciate that you're trying to point something out that many have before, I'm just displaying my skepticism, which is completely justified considering of Bethesda's actions in the past and thus far their lack of updates since they announced Dawnguard was being delayed on the PS3 back in July/August.

Now is the perfect time to be vocal about our anger. Bethesda's Skyrim screw-ups have finally made it to the main-stream. People know how the PS3 users have been treated by Bethesda, and Sony has finally stepped in. If we stay vocal about this, we can insure that Bethesda either starts supporting the PS3 the same as the 360 and PC or they just stop releasing crappy games.

I would be perfectly ok with either option. I'd rather not get a pile of crap game then have to wade chest deep through bugs to ATTEMPT to enjoy a game.

We've all seen the skeptics claiming that the dev's rarely look at these things. Aside from that August 30th comment have they even glanced here again?

I understand why your skeptic... I would be too. I just tend to look at both sides, and this coding is pretty good support to me. Doesn't make DLC coming to PS3 true though in anyway as you know. :turned:

So a beta patch has PS3 code in it and yet nobody is testing it on PS3, this should give us hope? For all of Odin's infinite wisdom, WHY?!?

We must accept finite disappointment , but never lose infinite hope.

Gstaff popped in a page or two ago to give us another "update". They claim they read the forums on the blog, but they never answer us. They only assure us that they "understand our frustration."

All I know is that SKyRiM is my personal gaming experience of a lifetime & it pains me deeply as a gamer to be unable to enjoy any additional content. HF is a RP's dream & DG just seems fun & exciting.

Plus, my latest DRaGoNboRn (who is a female Nord Conjurer) would be a perfect match for Serana. Two beautiful Nordic females laying waste to anyone or anything that opposes us & then turning them into our minion! Sadly, the glorious, cynical fun may never happen. They may never meet & be able to indulge in their love for the darker Arcane Arts!

So this bit of hope got the thread going past 1 page a day again lol

But uh, what's the DLC menu for? I have the game for PC and there's no "DLC Menu". Just the load order stuff for the DLC and mods.

Is there a DLC menu on XBox? You wouldn't need it on PC because you can manually do everything in other windows. Console it's easier to have a menu command to quick access to DLC. I know RDR has a Downloadable Content Button on it's title screen on PS3.

i hope this whole line of code thing turns out to be good and us ps3 players get all 3 dlc's, but intill beth comes out and says we figured out how to put the dlc's on the ps3 and not mess the game up any more then it all ready was, i will not let myself get to excited for fear of further disappointment

I don't know if you have a menu on the 360 but I don't see why it'd be needed.

You're not accessing a new game mode or otherwise locked content. It adds it all directly into the game world and seems to require an uninstallation to get the content out of the game world. It can't just be activated and deactivated at will, it's why some people are pissed about the vampire attacks. They can't deactivate the DLC.

RDR had a separate thing going on more because it's DLC put you in a different universe with the undead nightmare I think, where here you're still in the same universe. Just a few extra caves and a fort and a castle.

Well for RDR it's not really needed either for the first 3 DLC's (there were 5 total...first and last were free). UN was a different deal, but anyways...the button itself took you immediately to the PS Store Red Dead Redemption DLC page.

^ This. If we're getting DLC and this manu thing is in the patch that is what it is most likely for. By the way was there any sort of manu button for FONV DLC.

On the menu there was a DLC section but all it did was show you what you had downloaded, didn't take you to the store. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

Really hope we get some news one way or another real soon, if any of these rumours are true I can't quite see Bethesda deciding not to comment for too long instead of using it to appease PS3 owners.

Weird. They shoulda just had that in from the start like half the other games lol.

I guess they had already predicted their own problems >_>

Why are patches universal to the systems though? They all react differently I thought. I thought they had different teams for supporting different systems and all that stuff. I find that weird to hear.

Well ethier way if the rumours are true DLC is coming to PS3.

I think Beth hasn't commented yet for three reason:

1. For they are still uncertian if DLC is coming to the PS3 the code in the Beta can be changed before it gets to the PS3

2. Do they want to suprise us with something who knows.

3. They are going to annouce it when they are ready like the other two DLC.

They said there will be no surprises for the PS3. Once it's ready it'd be announced.
