PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #27

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:26 pm

To be fair... how can they prove it?

Be more specific instead of being angry.

That's why I asked if they can at LEAST tell us if they're more confident in overriding the previous "problem they aren't certain they could solve" that they talked about a month ago. That would be proof enough for me.

They continue to say that they're working on it, yet there's been no progress. They could at least say what they've tried, and how it's working. For all we know, it's just one guy just taking his sweet time.

They were able to take a picture of workers posing with masks on. Why not take a picture of the coding department hard at work?

See what happens after this 1.8 update hits consoles after the beta on steam. If no dlc for ps3 then, then there will be no dlc at all I believe.

Just gutted about the 3-4 bug fixes......

Here is the good news though.

GameInformer finally put this whole debacle in the GBU section.

And they put it under ugly.

They clearly blamed it on Beth too.

Good to see that the good people at GI feel the same way I do. Thought I was going crazy there for a sec.

None of which will solve any of the major issues vanilla Skyrim has.

So does that qualify as Add-On Content?

Yes, if Pete Hines is to be believed.

They arent "treating" anyone unfairly, theyre working their hardest to make sure the content gets to you guys. But if them trying their best still doesnt please you, im not sure what to tell you.

The thing is, this is something they should have known about far far in advance, before ever releasing it to 360.

The condition of the base game is something again, should have been known far far in advance before 11/11/11

Their trying their hardest was typically releasing broken products. People have encountered a good amount of game breaking or just annoying bugs in dawnguard on other systems, and DLC is supposed to be hard to patch if it ever does get a patch.

I don't think they're trying their hardest to please everyone necessarily, but trying their hardest to make deadlines. And I think that's been their problem from the start.

The PS3 copy should have been delayed, and even never announced! Release PC and 360 copies at 11/11/11 if they were ok to play (didn't play them on launch)
Never announce the PS3 copy.

8 months later when it's up to par, put it on the shelves.

As for the DLC? Do the exclusive, but don't put the first DLC out for release until the other 2 system DLC's are going to be roughly ready after the timed exclusive is up.
That, or don't ever give it to the systems and make it clear it's an exclusive DLC and not a timed exclusive.

If things were done like that I think this all woulda turned out fine.

The Skyrim content for PS3 is simply the 1.8 patch. Skyrim DLC is NEVER coming to PS3.

I'm sure they could provide some sort of log info. Not everyone can understand it but it is a lot more reassuring.

Oh it is in the current issue, which I don't think shows up on their site. Sorry bro. It is in the November issue.

The Skyrim content for PS3 is simply the 1.8 patch. Skyrim DLC is NEVER coming to PS3.

Don't be so sure!

Now, take it as rumor - but there's a datamining thread for 1.8 - and there's a BUNCH of interesting code that STRONGLY hints towards PS3 DLC coming soon! Here's some select lines of code datamined from 1.8... quoted from the Skyrim forums link:

$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT_PS3 DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT

update.bsa\interface\startmenu.swf\startmenu.as:

 MainList.entryList.push({text: "$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT" + (iPlatform == 3 ? "_PS3" : ""), index: StartMenu.DLC_INDEX, disabled: false});

And here's the link to the thread:

They outright lied to me, they don't deserve my approval. Nothing they ever do again will please me, they cheated me.

After seeing the lack of glitch patching in the latest patch, Im not confident in Bethesda going forward. Even for 360 owners like me who have Dawnguard, we have to deal with new bugs like the infamous hair glitch and the bug with the Alchemy Lab in Breezehome. Add in the fact that PS3 players have gotten the shaft, IMO, and i may not not buy another beth developed title, at least on console.

The new patch does specifically list the PS3 in its code line. That might be for Dragonborn, but it could easily be for Dawnguard and/or Hearthfire as well

I said this in the thread were the next DLC was brought to light. Maybe just maybe that Beth is going to make us pay say £20 for a bundale of DG, HF and DB for a sorry you had to wait but maybe not who knows.

That would be fantastic, though a price of $30-40 would probably be more realistic. We'll just have to wait and see

that's what I was thinking Beth should do. PS3 owners shouldn't have to pay full price when they've had to wait two months longer than PC players. They should get some sort of discount for the long wait. If they released them at a discount, it might also mean better sales numbers

I don't have anything new to report, but I do want to reassure you that we continue to work on Skyrim content for PS3. I don't have any timetables to share, but it's something we're working on everyday.

Oh, for the love of God, if that were true then Dawnguard would already be out on the PS3. We have been waiting for MONTHS and not once have you or Pete Hines confirmed that any real progress has been made, which tells me that the programmers working on Dawnguard for the PS3 are slacking off, probably hoping that we will eventually forget about Dawnguard so that they don't have to work on it any further. Would you kindly tell them that that will never happen and that they need to start doing their [censored] jobs? I would appreciate it very much, as I'm sure many of us would, and come back with a real update next time, would you kindly?

In my opinion the problem is not that PS3 owners have to wait, I'll wait 2 years if I have to for DLC to be available for PS3 owners and pay full price for it. That's not really the problem. The problem is that PS3 owners have to pay full price for buggy as hell DLC that will have 99% probability of making the entire game perform worse than what the base game performs now which is not saying much since it lags, crashes and loading screens are 30-45 seconds with autosaves on most of the time. To me that is the real problem.

I should be able to start the DLC at LVL 75 with 90% locations and quests cleared if I wanted to, not start a new game get to lvl 10, start Dawnguard finish it before reaching lvl 15 and a 10 mb save to get "acceptable" performance. And all for the exact same price as all other versions

It was speculated that the patch lines of code were written / planned long ago, as it seems the up coming DLC may be large you would assume they have been working on this DLC for some time now. So it is possible that this was included before the problems with PS3 DLC's appeared.

Well it looks like we're back to square one. We are not getting any DLC.

Edit: No wait even if the DLC was in production before the problems for the PS3 were discovered I think Beth would have not have kept what the files are saying for the PS3 unless they have found a solution to the problem.
