Strange Encounters.

Had a mudcrab talk at me once: "That's close enough, I'm warning you!" I was completely startled so I started looking around for bandits but nope, nothing here but mudcrabs.

I've had this happen to me twice now , both times in a dungeon using my paralyze enchanted axe . The first one was a draugr , after killing it , it stood back up and swayed back and forth with it's arms stretched out in a classic zombie pose . It was stiff , and could not be knocked over , but was clearly dead because I could loot it . It was still there when I left the dungeon .
The second time it was a bandit that stood back up , this time looking like it was ready to box me .
I managed to get a pic with my cell phone .

I met him, or one like him, on my way to Kynesgrove, I think. For a moment I thought maybe he had the Umbra sword. He "surrendered" but, of course got back up and started fighting again.

A mudcrab killed my dragon.....
pissed me off
Dragon nearly dies from my arrow, mudcrab comes, chop, dragon dies....

this was at whiterun, near a giant's camp. Mudcrabs can be found about 50m away and there a dragon spawns too.

Strangest thing for me was bandit that just fell out of the sky, I was running down the road and out of of nowhere this bandit just hits the ground dead. Scared the crap out of me as I wasnt really paying much attention to what I was doing and just saw this object fall and heard a thud sound. I look down and its a bandit on the ground. I look up expecting to see a dragon but nothing not even a mountain ledge for him to have taken a stumble off of. Best part he had elven armor in his inventory and 500 gold. and has this stuff on him every so often when I pass him on the road now, he is like a little in game atm.

A giant must have been nearby, or maybe a bit further away.

Those graceful creatures like to play golf, but use bandits as balls.

There was a mudcrab merchant in Morrowind who had loads of gold. Does Skyrim have similar.

Tried quoting the chap who mentioned the talking mudcrab but wouldn't work.

i've encountered the old orc somewhere nord of windhelm, while trying to get to the city. my character was an orc and really hoped to get him to follow me. firstly i let him live, hoping for that. but had to put him down for good. sovngard awaited him for too long.

o funny moment was in the battle with krosis. killed his dragon before and than engaged the priest. his fireballs were making the dragon's skeleton to jump around the whole field. my character was a sneaky archer, and had to move a lot. i the end he blasted the dragon off to the valley behind the dragon-wall.
after that i tested this type of movement of the heavy remains of the dragons for myself blasting dead dragons troughout the skyrim fields

The other day I was traveling to the Shrine of Merida when a spectral house galloped past, moments later the headless horseman came running past following the horse. That was very strange!!!

M'aiq the Liar is my fav encounter.

Naked courier (he had only hat and boots) came to give me a letter on some farm I was passing through. Then he went in the farm house and most funny thing in this was that there was two ladies who went in just before him.

If you get the Investor perk in Speechcraft and then invest in the Riverwood Trader, he will have 10K gold every 24 hrs. It's my one stop shop location now.

OMG the stories in this thread are cracking me up.

I went up to Arcwind Point (first time I went there! Never been there with my other toons, looks pretty cool, although nothing much up there, but Draugr Deathlords). So, I see this dragon swooping down towards the center on Arcwind point, then BAM the coffin lid flies open and a Draugr Scourge Deathlord pops out and then locks into an epic battle with the dragon. I watch for a while and then joined in. Shadowmere tanks the Draugr and I finish off the dragon. LOL

Not funny but kinda weird. In Riften. A strormcloak wanders in the gate, all hell breaks loose with guards vs thieves guild.
What I think happened: Thieves Guild member(s) attack Stormcloak. I know someone yelled "Die traitor!" Guards attack TG member(s), pretty soon all guards vs all thieves. Finally waited (since I wasn't in combat and essentials were still on the ground) and things cleared up. Final tally, two dead guards one dead thief -- and at least two who would have died had they not been essential.

Has anyone ever used the Wabbajack on someone who then turned into an idestructable mudcrab? I was in a bandit camp and I went straight for the boss who had a rather large hammer. I wabberjacked him and he turned into a mudcrab that killed some of the other bandits!

When I finished mopping up I went over to attack the Boss/Crab and it's health wouldn't even go down! I eventually ran away but decided to go back to a previous save as the camp was right by a road and I had visions of it killing every npc that was in the area.

Imagine if it made it's way to a village! I just couldn't live with that thought. But that was pretty strange for me. I put the Wabbajack away after that.

I have only encountered Dremoras with Wabbajak. And it is shame that my Elven Greatsword of Banishing doesn't send them back to Oblivion as it does for summoned ones.

It's too bad you can't ask him to follow you and meet his death on a lair of dragon.

Two interesting encounters last night:

* trekking up the mountainside, I ran into two nice people who invited me to their camp. Turned out they were vampires. I went beast on them for fun.

* then when I got to the top of the mountain I found the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon, and was attacked by an elder dragon that's just chillin' frost at me. So I switched to my trusty frost enchanted shield. The dragon lands again and breathes flame on me........ wait a minute..... this one's at like 33% health and it says "dragon". And the other one is blowing frost again. Apparently the two dragons were fighting each other and I got in the middle of it. So I finished off the flamer. And do you think the frosty one would be grateful? Noooooo.... it keeps attacking me. Probably didn't help that I was wearing it's cousin Burnie (get it? Burn-ie?).

* plans for tonight's session: I'm going to soul trap Ancano. "Hey Ancano! I got a black soul gem with your name on it!" -- of course this raises another question in this game.... do elves have souls?

Upon entering the Reach, where I was a wanted man, a Markarth guard approached me and said he was going to have to arrest me. Moments later a dragon swooped down and ate him.

Not exactly strange, but it was pretty damn epic.

The coolest thing that's happened to me so far was a death, mine, but still awesome. I have the game on XBox, so going back to an unpatched version is as simple as clearing cache, which I did to utilize the Oghma Infinium/bookshelf glitch. I don't use glitches on "real playthroughs", but hearing about it, I wanted to see what level 81 was like and try out various final full perk assignment plans to see what I liked.

One thing that happened was that all dragons were ancient dragons. Not sure if this is unique to them (they are rather big), but I was attacked on the plains in a forest and fighting one. I had the game set up at my cousins house over my break at Christmas and him and another friend were watching me play. I had driven it to the ground and was using one of those rock mounds you see around giant camps (fat stalagmite looking things a bit taller than you and almost as wide) as cover. I would peg it with a couple shots from my ebony bow then sidestep behind the pillar as it breathed at me, taking cover. Then I would sidestep out the other way and hit it again.

My health was not completely down but apparently low enough for it to initiate a finishing move, and it had been scrabbling forward towards the pillar in that walk they do when grounded. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the view switches to third person and it shows the dragon literally snake its long neck up and over the top of the pillar to bite me in half! It was so unexpected we all three jumped. I haven't had a video game truly "scare" me since the first time I saw the licker in Resident Evil 2 leap into the police station.

It's like the dragon got tired of me hopping back and forth behind cover and suddenly remembered, "Hey, I'm three stories tall! I don't have to take this sh|t." My cousin, who doesn't play these type of games, looked at me and said, "I don't know much about Skyrim, but it looks like that dragon just had you for lunch dude." My friend was like, "Well you did have a pretty pathetic cover."

I was on my way to a giant camp for a bounty (Secunda's Kiss, I think..) and nearby I see an ancient dragon fighting something in the distance. I run over to the dragon and see it's battling a giant, so I take them both out and after the fight has finished, I notice something else standing near the dragon - a skeleton wearing a black hood and holding a sword. Not sure if he had been fighting as well, but nobody else was nearby (apart from Mjoll). The skeleton wasn't aggressive and I couldn't talk to it or do anything else, but that was definitely a WTF moment.. In the end I just whacked it with my sword and it flew apart into pieces rather than crumble into an ash pile so I'm pretty sure it hadn't been conjured by someone.

Yesterday I had a common encounter going in a totally unexpected way.

I was on the road from Whiterun to Markath when I met three imperial soldiers escorting a prisoner. I was about to pass them when a pack of wolves charges towards them. The prisoner releases himself from the cuffs and start attacking the wolves bare handed along with the soldiers. Overwhelmed, the three poor beasts quickly succumb to the superior force.

Afterwards the prisoner quietly puts on his cuffs again and resume walking escorted by the soldiers... The poor guy must really felt ashamed by the crimes he committed if he's willingly seeking atonement in such a way!

As much as I kind of like the Blades on these forums, I just killed one. And he wasn't Esbern or Delphine. It's "Fultheim". I was chasing a Stormcloak courier into an Inn, killed her, and the Inn's residents came after me. "Fultheim" was a brave old man... and lo and behold, when I looted him, he had a Blades sword. I'm assuming he was one of the few left, that were hiding out.

Haha, the Skyrim Solution: Whack it with whatever you're holding and see what happens next.

I was in Kynesgrove when a blood dragon attacked to it. Me and all the people of Kynesgrove fought against it and when I kill it something huge hit dragon's corpse behind my back. It was a giant, he came to help us and had a long look at me before he started to walk away. Then one of the guards who were fighting the dragon with me came next to the dragons skeleton and said to me "My cousins are out there fighting with dragons and what do I get? A guard duty."
