At 101 proof it goes down smooth. I remember I drank an entire bottle of it in a few hours cause you don't realize how powerful it is.
I had that issue with American Double the first time I had it, because I never looked at the ABV. It's when it suddenly dawns on you that you're starting to get pretty drunk off not too many bottles. Managed to catch myself before I wrote off the whole of the next day...

...Which is more than can be said for our work Christmas do. I took £40 out with me, didn't spend a penny of it, and got utterly wrecked on free shots of Famous Grouse - not my favourite whisky at the best of times. As with the first time I got utterly trashed on it (while playing a game of Risk with my flatmates a couple of years back), the whole of the next morning was spent desperately trying to hold my guts in.

I've never really settled on a "good" drink to get trashed on. Whisky makes me feel sick if I drink too much too quick, and beer dehydrates too much. Cider is too sweet, and I am not friends with vodka...

Had a couple of nights on Everclear back when I started uni. 95% ABV. Wicked. And never a hangover in the morning :P

No, hardcoe would be 30%, at the very least.

There was a beer at a beer festival called hardcoe (not the Brewdog one) that was 10%

Just found some mulled wine mix left over from Christmas. Also found some mince pies still in date. Gonna have them tonight and watch Home Alone, three weeks late. Just need to pick up a bottle of red first.

Awesome, my kitchen smells of mulled wine. I should start drinking this all winter, not just Christmas.

The only beer I know that is caled "hardcoe" is a cider. To me, ciders are waaaaay too easy to drink.

My friends mum found cider to easy to drink also, about 5-8 cans of Strongbow most days, and she began turning orange/yellow-ish. Put me off the stuff, though it later turned out to be something else making her change colour.

What would be a good whisky for casual drinking while sitting infront of the fire watching tv?

Anything that isn't Teacher's. I remember a friend of mine set himself a personal goal to finish a bottle of Teacher's. It took him weeks.

I got battered off Bombay Saphire the other day. Me, my brother and one his friends drank a bottle in about half an hour and lost it. I'm a strange drinker. I can either drink all night and be sober as a judge, or I can have 3 drinks and be Charlie Sheen wasted. This causes me to have a lot of very dark drinking sessions.

Also, never drink Becks. I went to an engagement party a couple of weeks back and I had 3 pints of Becks, the next morning I woke up feeling like an Anvil had been dropped on my skull.

Have to be very careful with stuff like that, mixing depressants and stimulants can really do a number on your ticker, friend of mine always drinks Vodka/Red bulls and he's developed a heart condition, he has to take beta blockers now.

And Dark Knight, I always drink Becks, I switched to it because it gives me LESS of a hangover , I had about 10 bottles of it last night (probably about 6~ pints worth) and a few rums and I've been fine.

This Saturday I plan on consuming many beers. However, there's a catch. I want each beer to be different, and to be one I've never had before. I like pretty much all types of beers - dark, light, sweet, bitter, cloudy, wheat, etc. No funny flavoured ones like chocolate or strawberry though.

I want to pick up maybe 10-12 in total, made up entirely of your suggestions. Feel free to list multiple beers as chances are I'm not going to be able to get some of the ones suggested.

I forget what the beer was called, but I had one once that had a hint of banana. I couldn't decide if it was delicious or disgusting.

Not having any money at the moment, my beer selection is limited to the nastiest, cheapest ones in the store. At least Old Milwaukee has pinups on the cans.

There's Wells' Banana Bread Beer. I tasted some and came to much the same lack-of-conclusion.

This sounds utterly disgusting. Fair play - you have piqued my curiousity. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Drinking some Brahma, a Brazilian beer apparently. Not too shabby. Also got a bottle of Jagermeister in the freezer, now I need some Red Bull.

a few days after my 21st i went out drinking with work buddies. it was my first time so they bought all the drinks. i started off with a long island, then a lemon drop, moved on to jack and coke and finished with something called the four horseman, which was a mix of whisky, rum, tequila and something else.

on the way back to our cars i was shouting that i could taste the apocolypse.

But as a poor college student we have to stick with sweet, delicious coors light. /sarcasm
