Things that make you go "ROFL"

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:31 pm

The naked courier cracks me up big time.. especially when he arrives at awkward moments, like just before the battle for Whiterun.

Getting a sh*tload of praise from a Jarl, having that little smug grin on your face, exiting the Keep and then have a guard putting you back with both feet in virtual reality: "Hands to yourself, sneak-thief!"

Horses falling out of the clear blue sky.. just like that.

Shouting Kyne's peace in Riverwood, and having ALL the cabbages flying all over the place.

My follower getting stuck on one of those gate-traps "It's... nothing", getting up, walking straight onto the same pressure plate: THWAP! "It's..nothing" Yeah.. sometimes I just have my char stand there on the other side, waiting for it to happen again.. just for giggles.

Killing a room full of baddies in a dungeon, to have the very last one stumbling in, tripping over dead bodies, arrows, weapons, slipping in pools of blood "What was that!"

Accidentally stealing a bucket in the Ragged Flagon and the whole damn guild commenting on it "I saw that, you know!" "Hey what'd you do that for!"

I wanted to enter the College of Winterhold as part of the main quest and Faralda asked me to prove my dragonbornness. So I FusRoDah and hit her and she flies back, over the bridge, right into the chasm that separates the college from the town, while I stand there like "Whoops, wasn't me". 5 minutes later she comes running and tells me it was impressive and I may pass.

Seeing my friend get killed by a bucket (or whatever he ran into, the most menacing thing was a lantern ). You know when you run into something fast and it bounces around and lowers your health a little bit? Well this guy finished a fight with a Deathlord and understandably, his health was pretty low. Now he was so eager to get to a chest of loot that while running through a narrow-ish hallway, he kicked a bucket, somehow got stuck (possibly due to a bug or glitch) and the bucket kept bouncing around till' it killed him!

He kicked the bucket because he kicked a bucket?

(If that made no sense, "kick the bucket" is a way of saying someone died).

I figured I'd start a topic about some of the really funny moments you witnessed while exploring the realm of Skyrim. This could be almost everything, from an interesting kill to a comment made by an NPC. Lets see what you guys have.

Here is my submission:

My stepson was playing and entered the Inn in Whiterun. He was always a little annoyed with the bard that was always singing when ever he went in for a drink or a quick nap. He decided to punch him in the face and killed him. The rest of the people in the Inn decided this was justified and started clapping! Sadly the rest of the town didn't seem agree and he had to revert to an earlier save.

Funny.

Spoiler
Mine is in the Main Quest, in "the Fallen". After you capture Odahviing in Dragonsreach the Jarl's Court Wizard comes up and starts talking to the Dragon. He says he would like to run some tests on Odahviing, who then promptly tells him to not press his luck or "Do not stress my promise to the Dovahkiin."

The Mage then starts walking around to the side of Odahviing and tells him that it "shouldn't hurt too much for such a large Dragon".

Then, a couple of seconds later, with the Mage standing by Odahviing's tail, you hear the Dragon say: "Hey! What are you doing back there!?" Then the dragon roars and breathes flame all over the hall...

The Mage walks back up from behind the Dragon, and I realized that Odahviing just got his first prostate exam! I laughed so hard I nearly fell off of my couch. The way it was written in and Odahviing's reaction was very well timed, and very well done. I still chuckle when thinking about it.

Bandit say "is that all you got" right before there head starts rolling on the ground.

Heh, shades of Monty Python... "Tis only a flesh wound!" (Black Knight hopping around on one leg, all his other limbs having been chopped off)

You got a point. I didn't read that one. But another thing I mentioned is that both me and lots of others here on these forums are dead tired of "hey that's overpowered" or something. It's not an MMO so your favorite word "balance" doesn't apply here.

Well, any good game worth its salt will have been balanced better than what I've seen in Skyrim, to avoid making the solo combat pointlessly easy- there basically was no attempt to keep the killing power available to the player anywhere near the reasonable range of that available to the NPC's and monsters in the game. It's child's play to make a character that rolls through everything like a hot sword through butter, without using any kind of exploits or mods, and on any difficulty level. That's just sloppy work, and detracts from the quality of the game.

That's not 'MMO balancing', that's basic solo gameplay balancing, so that a solo game doesn't end up a boring roflstomp of hapless NPC's who don't have a chance. And it obviously wasn't done.

I was outside of Falkreath near the edge of the map(SE I think), battling some bandits, when suddenly a dragon dives into the ground between us, and it's body falls limp(doesn't burn up, stays whole). Now, this random dragon body just appears when I travel near Falkreath, usually shortly after fast traveling.

All I can think is that is was trying some death-dive maneuver and broke it's neck diving after me.

I had created a Necromancer character, didn't have much experience using the Raise spells, so I wanted to start small. So, I killed a chicken, and raised it. My wife thought this was hysterical for some reason, especially when I took off running and it followed super fast. From then on, I tried to always keep an undead chicken companion.

I actually saw something new for the first time in ages (340+ hours playing so far): I was in Whiterun when I saw two children talking. One, the girl (Braith?) was threatening the other, a boy, for money. He was completely scared (and Lord knows those kid are pretty creepy) and promised that he'd bring her 10 Septims tomorrow. WTF? Bullying in Skyrim?

I almost didn't want to help him because he was a battle-born and the character I played at this time strongly sided with the Stormcloaks. But then I figured this wasn't his fault. Was a good decision, though, the reward was really worth it.

The starter quest for the Dark Brotherhood has you killing an old woman in charge of the orphanage.
After I did the deed all the kid come to the corpse and drop comments like "wow, you killed her", "I want to be a member of the Dark Brotherhood, too when I grow up" and "So, that's how you get ahead in live!".

i was just cracking up at having served as an educator in this way. :)

Oooh forgot about one... the first companions quest with Vilkas! I was stalking through the dungeon when I hear a LOT of noise following me.. somehow Vilkas had managed to get himself stuck in one of the huge jars, which he was wearing as a skirt while stealthing... and no way to get it off, jumping off things, banging him into things... nopes, he wanted that jar to cover up his hairy legs.

So I go talk to Narfi, then to the inn and speak to the inn keeper about him. The guy says Narfi is harmless, blah blah blah. I fetch Reyda's necklace and give it to Narfi and my reward from Narfi? A deadra heart and human flesh....HARMLESS? He had everyone fooled apparently :)

A naked courier comes running up to me with a letter.
I guess the courier company has been hit with budget cuts and they no longer supply clothing.

I haven't had a courier who wore anything but a loincloth in a while. I'm not sure if it's a problem with a mod or something that went weird after the 1.4 patch, but it's too funny to try and solve....
