Little update on the DRM in BioShock 2

http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/01/21/bioshock-2-no-activation-limits-for-pc-version/

Hah, was just about to post this. That's good though. Although there still is a 15 activation limit.

Anyone getting the Bioshock 2 Action figures? I already have the Big Daddy figure, but I'm not sure if I want the other ones. http://www.figures.com/forums/news/9712-bioshock-2-action-figures-collectibles-update.html. I can't wait until the http://www.figures.com/forums/news/9631-bioshock-2-eve-hypo-prop-replica.html hits the USA.

Is anyone here getting the CE? I sure am. :hehe:

Alaisiagae, do you know if they're available in the UK?

EDIT: That EVE Hypo's on Play.com. I am SO getting it! Oh, and the models too! Hooray!

I have my 360 limited edition pre-ordered, I'm tempted to get the PC version as well though... Is it possible to mod the first BioShock?

Also, I'll totally get the EVE hypo once it's out, and the big sister/little sister combo may well grace my desk...

I'm hyped about BioShock 2, as evidence I'm currently wearing a BioShock 2 prototype big daddy t-shirt. :P

I suppose the 15 activation limit means I won't be getting it for the PC. I won't support anything else than a disk check on games (unless its steam, because steam is acceptable and I can download and play my games as often as I want on as many PCs as I want).

The article on the hypo mentions the website play.com, and I found the action figures listed on the site http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=allproducts&searchstring=bioshcok+action+figure&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0. Comic books stores and maybe even some video game stores might sell them. Here in the US, I know that Toys R Us carries NECA action figures, as does F.Y.E. and Newbury comics. Some non-chain retailers also sell them. I prefer to go and look at them in the store, because the paint jobs are not always consistent on the figures - a poor wash, some stray splatters, poor coverage in a certain area. You could try using Google Maps or google (or any other search engine) to look for retailers that carry action figures. :)

I'll try that, but the UK isn't as good as the US for action figures. Often, they're only available online, or a cheeky blighter's gone and played with the action figure, tearing the case, which means it isn't in mint conditio- :embarrass:

I'll have a ring around though. You may be right regarding the quality of the painting, but I've found, consistently, that ordering online gives you boxes which are in much better condition than buying local.

That may be so... but if I buy online, I'd have to pay for shipping, which, for some reason, is between $7 to $12 USD, depending on the seller. Sometimes it is reasonable ($4.00), but often times it is price gouging.

I've bought only two figures online. One had a picture of the item itself, not a generic picture, and that was good. The other came broken, but the paint job is great. That Kratos with Flaming Blades just svcks as an action figure... it's more like a delicate posable sculpt. =/

I don't care much for the new action figures or the EVE Hypo. I do like the Big Daddy figure I got with Bioshock CE, though. But I have no need for more :P

But then again, I have zero hypo towards Bioshock 2 too. I will probably not buy the game anytime soon, but rather wait until 2012 or something when it's dirt cheap :P While I rushed out and bought Bioshock CE at launch.

I'll wait until it is $20, or I get it from a SwitchGames trade. I'm really looking forward to it, after everything about the gameplay changes I've read in the Game Informer. You can get ADAM from sea slugs, and a bit from the Big Sisters, too. You'll also be able to walk around under water! You also get to meet some of the people you talk with on the radio face-to-face. I think it'll be a lot of fun. I don't know if the multiplayer will pull through, but it is interesting how it is set up, where it is early in Rapture's history and you get to choose a faction (Ryan or Fontaine) to side with and you are a splicer. At least that's what I think the multiplayer is, I'm not sure about the specifics.

I've already put 60 bucks down and will pay the rest once it's released. Now I just need to find a turntable to play that vinyl on....

I didn't like listening to the soundtrack for Bioshock. The music is good for the game's atmosphere, but not for when I'm trying to relax! :P

No CE for me. I'm saving my monies for the http://www.amazon.com/FRAGnStein-Wireless-PC-Controller-Playstation-3/dp/B002IVF5MC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top/189-6998152-0093633.

Nice! I wonder if they have one of the those for the 360....
Ok back on topic. I can't wait to look into that 164 page art book. Looks cool.

I didn't get it when I pre-ordered it either. Normally they give them at pickup, or that's what they did with Sgt. Johnson.

I will not rush out to get it. I'll wait until I can pick it up used.

While Bioshock was a beautifully rendered game, I found it lacking as a work on the whole. It was a one-play-through wonder. There was little to no variation in what you could choose to do or what ends you could seek. I'd not pay full retail for it in hindsight, and it left me with a "meh" attitude towards its sequel...especially with how it ended.

I got it for $5 on the Steam holiday sale but thought the same. I tried to go through again but just like Mass Effectt here is only one path and not much to explore. I even tried going slower thent he first playthrough and ended up going quicker. So i more then likely won't pick up this game until its super cheap.

Ok, help me Bioshock 2 fans:

I played the first Bioshock, and it took me a few days to beat, but there was really no replay value. I beat the main quest, explored most of the game world, and that was it, there was nothing left to do except collect stuff.

Will Bioshock 2 be different? Will there be side quests, more places to explore that aren't related to the side quest, or anything like that? I really want it, but a rule of mine is that I don't buy linear games, no matter how much I like them.

It looks to be fairly linear, but there's also multiplayer, so

It's good for one, maybe two playthroughs. I love the environment. It's a great game overall.
