Unofficial Bioshock 2 Thread

It's good for one, maybe two playthroughs. I love the environment. It's a great game overall.

This, although I have higher hopes since they ditched the original project lead.

I really want it, but a rule of mine is that I don't buy linear games, no matter how much I like them.

God of War II is linear, and I've played it five times. :)

When in doubt, wait 'till the reviews and thorough gameplay anolyses come in, and/or the price drops.

I'm not all that disappointed, I mean unlike MW2 people aren't buying Bioshock for the multiplayer.

Though, I am delighted by the fact that the success of MW2 on PC showed developers that they can screw over PC users all they want and get away with it. Oh how I love you Infinity Ward... (/sarcasm)

"We chose to spend the time we had creating a solid game foundation and unfortunately that did not include LAN play or dedicated servers."

Well that's some good news I guess about taking more time for the game. But still wow, no dedicated servers.

Pretty much mentions no dedicated servers and how matchmaking will work. Nothing that great.

I can't wait either. Does anyone know if there's a landscape poster of the "From the desk of Andrew Ryan..." picture?

I haven't been following this game much... Is it a prequel or a sequel to Bioshock?

The multiplayer's a prequel, but the single-player is a sequel.

I haven't been following this game at all. And with all the games coming out, or have just come out, I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting right away. The quality of the single player is a given, but how is the multiplayer? Who do you play as? Splicers, Big Daddies...?

Then why does it say you're the 'first' Big Daddy?

Subject Delta was in storage during the events of the first game.

You play as the denizens of Rapture during the civil war between Andrew Ryan and Fontaine. Each player is a product tester for Sinclair Solutions' tonics and plasmids.

You play as the first Big Daddy, Subject Delta, who, unlike other big daddies, has free will. You'll be up against other Big Daddies, Splicers, and the new Big Sisters (see the video I linked to earlier in this thread). You can get Adam by harvesting little sisters, or you can adopt a Little Sister and she'll collect Adam from enemies you've slain. You can also sometimes find those Adam-producing sea slugs (mentioned in the first game), and a bit from Big Sisters, too. There have been some really good videos posted on this page, why don't you look through them?

As much as I loved Bioshock, I just can't get excited about this game. I always thought that Bioshock was the kind of game that didn't need a sequel, and it wasn't really set up well to accommodate a sequel either. I like the idea of getting to go back to rapture and all, but I just don't like what I've seen about the story so far. I'm not too fond of the idea of playing as a big daddy, and I think the big sister just looks crap to be honest. Hopefully my concerns turn out to be mis-informed, because I'd love another game of the same level of quality as the first game.

I bought the Subject Delta action figure today, he's pretty cool! I have to wait until next week for my local Toys R Us to get the Big Sister/Littler Sister combo pack. I saw the big sister figure, it looks kinda wimpy compared to the Big Daddy, Subject Delta, and even my Kain, Raziel, and Kratos figures - very twiggy, narrow, and smallish, I can't believe it is actually 7 inches tall. The detail is, of course, incredible, especially on her tanks (they've got little sister drawings on them) and the other areas of the costume. The skin looks nasty (in a good way) - all pale and wrinkly. I haven't seen a Little Sister yet.

I was surprised; the Subject Delta figure doesn't have a delta sign on his left hand like what I read the in-game character is supposed to have on his hand (I read it in the Game Informer magazine). This figure is has more articulation than the Big Daddy, but all the joints are subtle and very cleverly hidden. I don't like how I'd have to rip out his right forearm drill to interchange it with a forearm that's got a hand - seems a bit of a risky maneuver. His tanks have a little platform, I bet you could put a little sister on his back. The detail is great and really impressive. NECA is outdoing themselves with this (can't say the same for that Prototype figure! Or the Kratos figures, but I'm still sore that mine is defective and has a wonky right hand).

Kotaku keeps mentioning that they're gonna be playing Bioshock 2 this weekend. Does this mean they're releasing a demo?

Eh, I doubt it. I mean there's only a few days left until the release date.
