A were creature expansionDLC

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:07 pm

I kind of think (concerning the werebear thing) they should have been the werecreature of choice for Skyrim to begin with. We had werewolves in Bloodmoon and Skyrim (lore-wise) is home to the werebears.

The technical aspects of difference between wolf and bear forms is a tough one to divide, hypothetically. By making werebears slower I think it would make things difficult combat-wise, even if they had extra health. I don't have solid ideas on-hand, but I think they could be fleshed out to be different from werewolves, but also retain the shapeshifter qualities folks have come to love (or loathe).

not sure if giving them Roar is such a good idea, thats more magic relited

Why not, us werewolves have howls so it makes sense that a werebear would have a set of roars that mirror the werewolves howls.

In the canon TES book "The Infernal City" Werewolves and at least one Werebear did work together under Hircine during one of his hunts. Hircine has no control over Werebeast, they are individuals and only those that wish to serve him. Kodlak of the Companions and the rouge Wereboar from Daggerfall demonstrate their free will. They are not just animals, they are people.

I agree that Hircine doesn't have total and utter control over the Lycanthrops but he does influence them and I would imagine that he would be able to at least talk them into doing what he wanted, that is unless you will power was strong enough to resist his charm.

I wouldn't make them too sluggish but they should be a little bit slower then werewolves but twice as strong, they should move just as fast as the bears in game do which isn't too fast and not too slow.

I agree with the first part, but the second Werebears are going to have to be slower (not slug slow) to even out there power or else it would make the game unbalanced.

I see the point. Still, it would be nice to have aspects for the werebear that differentiate between the two species. If the werebear was slower it could offset the hightened armor and/or health. However, I dislike slow combat so I'd be skeptical of playing one unless properly balanced

You would have to adopt an " ambush " tactic, which is what bears are "ambush predators ". Archers would be a pain in the butt but that's where the extra health comes in, you would be able to take at least twice the amount of damage that a werewolf can take.

What's funny is that in real life bears aren't much slower than wolves. I think the average speed for Brown bears is like 35mph and wolves are like 40mph, but wolves are more agile and have amazing stamina which allows them to chase prey for miles. To be honest, werebears will probably be as fast or faster than the PC but slower than werewolves.

That's why bears are ambush predators, they are unable to keep up the chase for very long but are fast enough to get you at the start. I have seen footage of wolves literally running for miles and miles in chase of prey but I agree that werebears will be / should be just a little bit slower then werewolves but the power possessed by the werebear ought to be profound to make up for their slow movement.

That explains why I haven't seen any crazy talk of lore-breaking werewolves lately.

You said, "us werewolves", so you believe yourself a werewolf?

Also, http://www.mascotdesign.com/_dev/images/famous-cartoon-character-mickey-mouse.png and http://media.bestofmicro.com/Skyrim-performance-Benchmark,7-X-315213-13.jpg are different. The word "character" would be a fine substitute for "toon", which makes it sound like we are playing My Little Pony.

Oh well I guess I missed out on the fun of messing with him then, but really the best course of action when dealing with a troll or a pest is to ignore em.
