100 annoying things about Skyrim.

(talking about Skyrim stop editing your posts late  )It doesn't mean it's quality and if it isn't in the right place and spread thin between loads of characters then it doesn't have much of an impact.

well for me both 65000 or 60000 lines do make an impact, a good one

No I mean that if they spread them out amongst a ton of NPC's then the power of the dialogue is lost. In New Vegas they spread out the dialogue really well and it had an impact.

This is the best reply in the thread.

On topic:

There are only two things I don't like about Skyrim:

1. Can't craft arrows (without a mod)
2. Bandits kick my ass no matter what level I'm at unless I'm equipped with top of the line gear

I've got one too: i want to remarry after death, so i can role play a black widow

Quantity isn't necessary Quality, the main problem in Skyrim is the way NPC's recognizes you, they simply don't. Speak to a NPC and exit, then speak to him again and he will repeat the same things like the previous conversation 5 seconds ago didn't happen. Also how people in guilds fail to recognize their leader is a bad thing. Previous TES titles did Dialogues between the player and NPC's better, not because the dialogue was immensly much better, but because they did recognize you more of what you had spoken about and done in the game. Voice acting in Skyrim is miles better then in Oblivion, but still there are parts of how dialogues worked in Oblivion I do miss. And that is the part about them recognizing who I was and reacting accordingly.

Snip

I wonder if that includes the fact that some pieces of dialogue were voiced 10-20 times over so that you could have a character of any race or gender say the exact same thing?

And of course I always felt that the quality of Skyrim's writing and dialogue as well as its implementation were a bigger problem than its quantity. Rather than 'Do you get to the Cloud district often? Oh! What am I saying' why couldn't they have (once again) remembered what they did in Morrowind? In Skyrim it seems that each NPC has one unique line and that line is doomed to be the only thing they say no matter how many times you pass by them. It gets old, it's silly, and not a great system. Morrowind by contast had a huge pool of voiced dialogue for each NPC, and what response you got was determined by so many factors. Sure each dialogue line was shared by most other people of the same race and gender of the speaker, but they were non-specific enough to be recycled and still make sense. "Outlander...what do you want?" vs "I work for Belethor at the General Goods store" x600.

I'm starting to remember why i stayed away from the forums for so long. More to the point most of the OP's complaints are based on his/her personal opinion, with only a few actually legitimate ones.
Honestly never understood the appeal of coming on to a game forum and just complaining for the hell of it. If you don't like the way something is be constructive and offer alternatives don't just say "this svcks" that doesn't help anyone. but that's just my opinion

you mean like: "Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter" ?

that wasn't annoying right? only skyrim's lines are annoying right?
probably because they didn't make a meme out of it...

If you feel that Morrowind is superior to Oblivion, and far superior to Skyrim in terms of roleplaying, design, charm, and any other quality you care about, then you can see where you might feel like its productive to have an open debate about these things. You want the next Elder Scrolls game to be more like your favorite installment than your least favorite installment.

That's where these discussions stem from.

there you go: 1-.... .... now?
I think you may have misunderstood some of the examples. Eg the reacting to achievements. He is not saying the achievement is picking something up. Rather that you kill Alduin, become harbinger, arch mage, leader of the thieves guild and nobody reacts. I still hear the dialogue like you should head over to the mages college if you have the aptitude when I'm already arch mage!!! :stare: I do see where you are coming from many are stupid points but some others like floating behind your horse and kill cams are annoying.

yeah, as I said later there's maybe 5-6 points that are actually legit.

Most of these are stupid for example:33. Instead of using a map, I just turn into God for a moment and look down on the entire province. 34. I don't write directions in my Journal anymore because my GPS tells me where to go. 35. Nobody gives me directions anymore because they notice my GPS. It's called a map. It helps you navigate. You don't teleport! It's not a GPS it's a map.
it is not a map. It is Skyrim as seen from a satellite. I want a map. I want it to be quaint and possibly inaccurate. With little pictures of dragons. Because otherwise it is just GPS, and fits in modern, or possibly future times, but not in a world like Nirn.

-snip-

You're cool. You did say false a bunch, but provided no physical evidence to support your reasoning.

Quit being such a really devoted fan. Sure, it's a great game. On the same token, just because you're not reading in to its shortcomings as much as somebody else does not mean those shortcomings aren't there.

ok so if I don't agree with the OP I'm "such a devoted fan"?
did you read the OP points? maybe you wanna read it again...

here's an extract of the OP's post:
20. Stupid characters. (Ever heard of those cats? I think they call themselves khajiit.)
21. Bad voice acting. (I speak in a fake accent but my neighbor doesn't even though we're from the same place.)
22. Gimmicky features that serve no purpose:
23. "I'll show you to your room" (Takes 20 minutes to walk there and you've slept already.)
24. You don't have to dual-cast, but your spells will svck if you don't.
25. You don't have to dual-wield, but one-handed weapons will svck if you don't.

but I know, why you should bother reading all that stuff when you can just explain my answer with "devoted fan"?

That was said my randomly generated NPCs that weren't characters. Skyrim has developed characters...well should be developed characters repeating the same line constantly.

so...OP. Are you referring to the Inns aroun Skyrim? Or different places entirely?

If the Inns, then I don't know what you're doing in 20 minutes to get there. It's a 6 second walk from the entrance to the room.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer on Owain's behalf. I personally never debate or argue to change someone's opinion if they hold conviction - its so that by our discourse hopefully my side comes off as the most well argued and reasonable position and uncommitted, undecided onlookers can be swayed to my side of the argument rather than the other guy's.
