Just so you know Boradem...I am not trying to be a troll or a flamer dude :). I am meaning to be casual and discuss stuff like a people should. If I come off as rude or snide it all for dramatic effect man. No offense ment. :)

Dramatic effect? but those are what emotes are for, See right now i'm being funky. :disco:

Less meat, more filler please.

I agree.

I felt more and more disgusted when I think about the time spent in FO3 after I played NV.

It makes me sad, I've spent about 50 hours overall in FO3 and I have all the achievements, But in Vegas i have about 100+ hours in and only have like, 15 or so achievements, And i'm not bragging, But it just goes to show how Vegas is just harder.. Which is a good thing.

^This...TOTALLY this! But mine is worse...I have over 140 hours in FO3 and about 60 so far in NV. NV is insane hard in some spots and you are right...they did it in a good way. Not just ramp up the armor and HP but change AI tactics and better spawn locations for creatures to take advantage of terrain and such. I gotta admit...I do get a little mad at the whole thing with people bashing on NV. Other than some pretty bad tech bugs (which can be patched I would think)...NV is great!

hardcoe @ very hard. LVL 10. Vault 34, 400 rads, 50% HP, 200+ H20, 200+ FOOD 100+ SLEEP, no more radaway, purified water, or food. This is right before walking into the overseer (see: feral ghoul reaver) + two sentry guns, three vault security glowing ones.

After I got out of that situation, I realized immediately FNV is the better game by far.

Hrm Personally I'd have to say I prefer New Vegas over Fallout 3 in large part due to the fact I'm finding (in my opinion at least) the breadth and depth of the overall game/NPC's to be more satisfying than the oftimes (again in my opinion) shallower Fallout 3.

While New Vegas has area's which if you wander/blunder into too early you will provide a brief chew toy/target practice for the denziens of those area's, I feel that is fundamentally more satisfying and makes (at least for myself) a more enjoyable game experience because I just can't up and wander any which way I want at the start. The fact that the denziens tend to stay the same in whichever area no matter what your current level is, again adds to the overall feeling of my character expanding and growing more powerfull rather than the foes and or their equipment/gear changing depending on your current level which detracts from the feeling that you are 'more powerfull'.

Ok the more isolated locations might be a bit smaller inside for the exploration aspect which can be a wee bit of a let down, but having said that it also makes a nice change from expansive sprawling interiors which in some instances can be downright mazelike in their complexity.

Haha, yea it was a little insane. If I actually knew what I was getting into before going into vault 34 I would have had an easier time. The whole stat situation could have been avoided if I left to resupply and came back, but vault 34 completely gripped me and I didn't want to leave until I finished exploring/questing. In the end though, everything in the armory was TOTALLY worth the trouble I went through. I've been using All American as my primary since then, and I'm at lvl 18 now. :)

I truly enjoyed FO3 my first playthrough. But after that, the game lost some of the appeal. The side missions offered a lot of choice, but the storyline was so linear. I wasn't a huge fan of that. I haven't completed NV yet, but I'm loving the factions and choice you have. It took me a long time to get into the game, and really start enjoying it, but it took me a long time to get into FO2 as well, but once I was into it, I loved it. I'm already finding myself looking forward to my next playthrough, to try new things and play the game completely differently.

I think NV is a better storyline, with more moral choices, and a better, more realistic "Wasteland Survival" experience.

Really? Because I can name ALOT of bugs and glitches on Fallout 3, on and out of DLCs.

FO3 wasn't perfect, but it was substantially better out of the gate, and the 1st two patches pretty well fixed it.

FONV was a disaster when released, and after 1st patch is still pretty buggy

Just clipping errors (stuck monsters, etc) is about 10X worse in FONV then it ever was in FO3

I am new to the Fallout Universe and I intend to purchase FONV this coming weekend.

I bought FO3 GOTY about a week ago and I absolutely love it.

I don't care if Vegas starts where FO3 ends....I just want it.

I want it all.

Funny. I've barely had problems with Fallout: New Vegas. I definitely had more problems with Fallout 3 at release.

Armory is so epic, I got like 5 C4 blocks from it, And I was pissed when I could'nt find the All-American.
Turns out, Boone is a thief.. And I was overjoyed with the Pulse Guns preformance on PA.

@ MrMike: You realize we have had one patch so far, Right?

Man I would soooo like to be able to argue with you about this....but I can't. I mean this is the kind of post that just begs for a good hearty flamewar (and is there anything more satisfying than justifiable righteous fury so bravo :) ) but is irrefutably true.

When I bought Fallout 3 on release, I played it none stop for about a month without touching another game, and continue to play it to this day. I bought New Vegas on release and I've put about ten hours in, if that. Maybe it's because I have no sense of loyalty to Fallout 1 & 2, but I just feel indifferent towards New Vegas. To me it just doesn't have the same pulling power as the masterpiece that is Fallout 3. Maybe the whole thing is just getting old now; bring on the next gen consoles.

Maybe - I wouldn't be surprised. How much of the same can one take?

Instead of next gen consoles, bring on a "TESless" take on Fallout - different gameplay, different mechanics, different system. A fresh take on the franchise and a better middleground between the traditional RPGs and everythingman-explorersimulators.

There is also the fact that Bethesda is using an in house (modded gamebryo) engine. They have known what to do with it since Morrowind. Obsidian had it for just ~two years.

Not really, Fallout 3 was probably Bethesda's most polished game out of the box, but it was still incredibly buggy and the DLC showed no sign that Bethesda had actually tested for any. The Pitt in particular had one of the most embarrassing initial releases I've ever seen; the game consistently crashed when the player approached the railway tunnel. Fallout 3 is still very buggy, and the DLC hasn't been patched at all outside of the fix for the Pitt crash, but the Pitt had many other embarrassing and obvious bugs outside of that which are still present (disappearing autoaxe blades for example).

FONV was a disaster when released, and after 1st patch is still pretty buggy

Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing the same game as everyone else because I haven't encountered very many bugs aside from the usual technical difficulties that go hand in hand with Bethesda's modified GameBryo engines.

Just clipping errors (stuck monsters, etc) is about 10X worse in FONV then it ever was in FO3

I agree that spawn placement is pretty bad in some areas and I'm hoping this will be improved in patches, but give Obsidian credit where credit is due... at least corpse meshes don't morph into freakish shapes and NPCs don't fly through the air or fall out of the sky at random like they did in Fallout 3. Well, I haven't seen this happen in NV yet anyway, and this was a pretty common glitch in FO3.

Honestly I love both.

FO3 has a slightly different feel from the other FO titles but I see that as a good thing - Bethesda did it their way, produced a fine game but didn't try too hard on emulating other FO games, which, if they had, could have turned out badly.

NV is great and you definitely feel the vibe that 1 and 2 had but, to me, it doesn't make me think any worse of FO3 for it.

Fallout 3 is a different game than Fallout. It's more of a spinoff...I hate to say this, but Fallout 3=Fallout: BoS done by Bethesda. New Vegas=Van Buren basically. Fallout 3 is nothing like a Fallout game save for post-apocalypse (FO:BoS is nothing like a Fallout game save for post-apocalypse). FO:BoS had a poor storyline (Hey noticing similarities?). Fallout 3 wasn't set even remotely close to the originals (neither was BoS!). Oh and pretty much everything about New Vegas is Van Buren (the cancelled Fallout 3) material.

Sorry buddy, but to quote deadliest warrior, "I have to give the edge to New Vegas!"

I really loved all 4 Fallout games I've played through (I own tactics but never finished it). The first 2 games arrived at a time when I was studying 3d animation so were a massive influence on that part of my education.
Right now I am on my 2nd run through of Fallout NV but secretly am missing Fallout 3 ('til writing this anyway).
My Fallout 3 is heavily modded with all DC present and that right there is the big difference.... I find myself wandering through NV feeling it's emptiness or looking at potential "bits" to use for future settlements.... wondering if certain aspects will be expanded on through the modding community etc.... so much quest possibility.... so many boarded up buildings etc. etc.
I played Fallout 3 more than any other game I have ever owned... mainly because of the contributions the modding community have made. My personal experience is that it is a game that keeps on giving.... I know I will do another runthrough of F3 after I finish this playthrough of NV... the modding community just needs time to catch up with it.

The Fallout franchise is in the best hands possible right now IMO.
There is no best... Killap (sp?) took F2 as far as it could go.... it was a well mourned corpse until gamesas breathed life back into it... even some of the original F1 &2 devs have been motivated to get back on the bus.... (now if we could just get some ex Troika input).... personally I am just happy to see my most loved franchise back on the shelves.

talonfire:

my experience w FO3 was very good, very few bugs, especially compared to FONV. Although I did NOT ever play "The Pitt" - did all the other DLC w no problem but didn't want to go naked into a new area. And there was never a problem like FONV had with the Saves files - THAT was AWFUL!!

btw I just had Veronica take a flying leap, a la Wonder Woman, down a sloped hill to smack a bark scorp - she must have flown 20 feet over my head to land another 50 feet down the hill. I've seen lots of people and monsters "floating" a few feet off ground
