Future DLC Suggestions #8

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:01 am

I'm just going on Google maps, I wasn't trying to say ' It'll take 15 days PERIOD' and, yes, straight walking does mean no stopping. I'm just factoring sleeping and moving in top condition for a wastelander; most people would take longer. GMaps said 10 days walk, So I estimated an extra 5 days because of sleeping, resting, eating, etc.. It could take months to even go that far, if you were wandering there; but if it was your intent to go there, it wouldn't take as long because you would have (mostly) planned out your route on your Pip-Boy. I'd say 30 days max for walking with intent to get there. At 4.3 MpH walk (Average Human's speed) it would take 156.5 hours of (non-stop) walking to get there, meaning about double that, since you could get a good 12 hrs done a day, the other 12 for eating, sleeping, etc. if you stop to eat. That comes out to about 13 days, so, maybe 20 days since paths & roads aren't great.
And 24 days for NV to Chicago; That DOESN'T factor in trekking through the Rockys, eating, sleeping, etc. Using the same equation as before, STILL not counting rocky trek, it would be about (1789 mi/4.6 Mph=416 * 2=832/24=34.67 Days) 34.7 days; so a better estimate would be 70-ish days.
Correct me if I messed up on the math.

That does sound more accurate. But yeah, the dilapidated roads, regular wasteland hazards (rads, bandits, wildlife), immense journey, etc. it really takes an immense time to do that immense distance on foot. I imagine traveling across Utah alone is a very daunting task for a wastelander not only due to distance but due to the incredibly complex terrain. Point is, considering the scope of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, it seems extremely out of place to go that far in either games.

I would like a dlc that has Desert Ranger armor that isn't associated with any faction. I don't care if it's in one of the dlc's or if it is its own for $1 or something. It's my favorite armor but I don't want to have to be associated with the NCR.

That would be cool. I like a lot of the clothing on this game, but if you use it other factions get upset. I use the T-45d non faction power armor. I would love a non faction ranger outfit.

Is It possible that the "tops casino" sub-basemant elevator leads to a future dlc? it says it requires a key, but I've never found a key for that elevator...

I thought that if you attack Benny in the Tops then he flees out that door.
So it's merely an escape route for the NPC to run away so he's scripted to appear at The Fort later on.

You might be right just figured once you killed him, you'd be able to get his key... Can't find a key on his body... bored out of my mind and fishing for non-existent stuff...

Yeah, I know. Like the Brotherhood power armor. It looks a lot better than the green rusted moldy looking regular power armor.

But while NCR and the legion battle in vegas, and 1 bloke rebuilds Washington (hold up. That ain't south west), there's no mention of how Europe and Asia etc. are rebuilding in their homelands. Is London crumbling? Paris dans...le....le trouble? Spain in a nuclear siesta!? Has Australia been barbecued? (I've got a career In this...)

Does anybody have any clue what would of happened to Australia? We do have most of the worlds uranium.....

Obsidian, since you're going to give us a "trait" to allow a form of nerfing for the sake of balance, how about giving us more options?

Skilled.
+4 more skill points per level but perks come every third level.

(Wo)Man Of Talents
You get a perk every level but get 5 less skill points per level as well.

Gifted
All SPECIAL is raised by 1 point but your skills are all decreased by 20 points.

Arthropod
You get an initial +20 DT but lose all base HP.

Or how about just nerf traits?

Incompetent
You get 5 less skill points per level. (For us that think there is too many skill points in the game.)

Talentless
You get a perk every third level. (For us that want less perks.)

Lacking
You lose your 5 free SPECIAL points. (If this isn't possible at character creation: You get to remove 5 SPECIAL points)

Anti-Bulletproof
You get -15 DT. (For us that want to use high tier armors but fear enemies becoming too easy.)

Weakling
Your base HP is halved. (Would make enemies a little bit more dangerous.

Twiggy
Your limb health is decreased by 50%. (I'd use it.)

I know Sawyer said this isn't Options: The Game, but for us that whine about there not being balance these things could really help console users to customize our own balance.
Sure it's nerfing but I'd rather take a permanent trait to nerf me than hold back from using certain items in the game.
And since this "trait" is going to allow us to "nerf" ourselves I think it'd be best to go full out on it and allow for more permanent nerfing traits. (You get a list of these to choose from after leaving Goodsprings, you can pick as many as you want to.)

And hell, allowing us to use these traits could also make lvl 50 a bearable level to accomplish.
By picking Weakling and Anti-Bulletproof enemies will still be a challenge at lvl 50.
By picking Lacking, Talentless and Incompetent it could make lvl 50 a good ending level.

I dunno, I just think that if they're going to use this "trait" thingie to allow a nerf for the sake of balance that they should go all out with it since it holds a lot of potential that could please a lot of the fan base.

So please, Obsidian, Bethesda, whoever has the final word on this, don't waste the potential of the OWB trait.
Expand on it.
Allow us more options.
What harm could come out of it other than pleasing the fans that want balance? :P

I actually agree with that alot of those I would actually use because I honestly hate being able to pretty much tank everything.
Also you got some of those traits from original fallouts :D

Also another trait Incompetent Halves Exp earned.

Hmm.
Slow Learner - The experience points earned is halved.

Support Mania - You earn five times as much experience for non-combat situations but combat experience is decreased to 5 to 10 experience per kill. (I've thought about creating a pacifist character but one thing I'm worried about is that I won't have enough experience points to get my support skills up fast enough.)

Wanamingo! Bring back the Wanamingo. Who wouldn't want to see the Wanamingos return in the new Fallout games? The Wanamingo is one of the strangest creatures in a Fallout game.

For those of you who never played Fallout 2, and have no clue what a Wanamingo is, then check out this page:

Other creatures that would be cool to see are the Gehenna, and the Molech from the unfinished Fallout: Van Buren.

i need some new armor i hate how the enclave armor is the best and the worst looking...i just hope for super high tech power armor from old world or some kind of "paladin" armor from the Mormons or something in HH

god paladin armor from the mormans would be awesome all shiney and gold trimmed or something and you can only get it with veary good morality. maybe looking like the enclave armor body with the T-51b's arms and some cloth like the ncr rangers' coat but just from the waist down, and some other rags on the shoulders....god im gonna be so horribly disappointed when it comes out.

I dunno. Hopefully they release a DLC with more Legion content as the vanilla game is entirely geared toward those who go the NCR route. I'm hoping Honest Hearts will be the remedy but I kinda' doubt it.

The wannamingos are a result of FEV virus experiments, but they are now becoming sterile. They are not aliens, but word is they were designed as FEV-tailored weapons for waging war on other countries... and they got loose. They do live a long time, but they were dying out at the time of Fallout 2. They have only been sighted in the F2 area and nowhere else in the wastelands.

The eggs you see in Fallout 2 are the last generation of Wannamingoes to exist in the wasteland; the young Wannamingoes seen in F2 will perish in five years, and their parents a few years before that - an internal genetic clock will simply stop ticking, and they'll fall over dead. The Wannamingoes are a vicious mutant breed that had their moment in the sun, and now their sun has set.

To put the tombstone on their extinction, the largest known nest of Wannamingoes were wiped out when the Great Wannamingo mine was reclaimed by Redding with the help of a traveling tribal. The mother was killed, and the last remaining eggs were hunted down, stepped on, and then the remains were examined by local scientists and doctors who came to the extinction conclusions mentioned above.

Again, Wannamingoes are not aliens – they are a curious mutant or genetically-designed fighting machine that has only been able to find a home in the cold, dark places of the wastes.

It is possible that the wannamingoes were old Enclave experiments (or even experiments from before the Great War), and if this is true, then it's likely their genetic/biological deadman's switch was purposely engineered to keep them from breeding past a certain generation.

As a final note, this is strictly a personal decision on my part. If you want them to live for fan fiction, pen-and-paper role-playing campaign purposes, or for your own peace of mind, feel free to have some of them survive the stopping of their genetic clock –
in the Black Isle universe, however, the little buggers are already dead and their irradiated shells are scattered along the floor of abandoned mines throughout northern California where they make nice crunching noises when you step on them.

i still stand by what i said, mutations occur and there could still be caves with them in it, and it says they have a hive mind mentality so if the queen was smart enough they could survive and also in your quote it said "It is possible that the wannamingoes were old Enclave experiments (or even experiments from before the Great War), and if this is true, then it's likely their genetic/biological deadman's switch was purposely engineered to keep them from breeding past a certain generation. " there could be wannamingos anywhere and could have mutated past the genetic clock, but like i said before i care that much...but i do like to defend my opinions.

Not with some fancy writing. Shi could have captured some Wannamingos. Then they found away to undo the "internal genetic clock." Wanamingos would make a great weapon for the Shi Empire. Well worth their time to research.

Or simply ignore that part of the Fallout Bible but that is a slippery slope. If it does not go against Canon then there is no real reason to ingnore it.

As long as any Aliens that show up at Area 51 are only wild wasteland like the one you are talking about. Wild Wasteland is just a fun easter egg thing. Not Canon.
