I have an infuriating friend--a discussion of Dragons and Mo

She don't really have to kill dragons. There are always NPC presented to help you in scripted encounters. She just has to be good at healing.

Look, in my playthrough so far, the only Dragon I've seen has helped me break out of The Man's oppressive, axe-wielding grasp. That makes Dragons the good guys so far. The least I can do to repay my savior's kindness is not senselessly slaughter his people for the sake of the box art.

You could explain that the fights with the dragons are actually discussions - it's just that their language is somewhat violent and tends to explode things they're talking to. By not responding in kind she is actually being quite rude and disrespecting their culture.

Well he was actually there because he wanted to kill you - I mean "debate" with you - he just didn't know who you were exactly so he indiscriminately debated at random villagers (there were children there by the way who are gone after this - so dead) and guards hoping you'd be among the victims of his arguments.

I Think her playstyle is awesome. I kill dragons because I feel they Are my Kin, and if my Kin attack me I fight back, but if I see a circling dragon? I leave it alone.
EDIT: And we are not to chose how others Are to play Are we now.

All I can say is good for her, if she makes a choice not to kill dragons more power to her.

I on the other hand tend to ignore them unless they make it a point to attack me. I have more trouble with bears and sabrecats jumping me.

Alright, so, I love Skyrim and everything about it. I mostly enjoy slaying dragons. However, a friend of mine who also loves the game and has been a TES fan since Arena absolutely refuses to kill dragons. She just won't do it. Admittedly, she's obsessed with dragons, but it's to the point to where she won't even touch the main quest because it involves the harming of the scaley beasts.

When I question her about why she won't harm one, she says it's because dragons rightfully own the land and that humans, like Tiber Septim, drove them out. Essentially, the dragons are the native Americans and the Nords are the Europeans that came to steal their land.

Seriously, it's frustrating because she's missing a major part of the game. She won't fight dragons therefore she won't obtain any shouts or complete the main quest. Does anybody agree with her? See where she's coming from? It really is mind boggling, how adamant she is in this decision. To each their own, I guess.

Dragons enslaved mankind and Alduin seeks to destroy mankind and eat their souls, completely rendering them evil. They were rightfully driven away. In fact it was the Falmer who were driven out because they decided to break peace with Saarthal.

It's a fine RP style, as long as there isn't any desire to make an inherently good or evil character.

Although she did say she was the leader of the Thieves Guild so it seems morality isn't a driving factor for the decision. It's an interesting RP choice I may consider on one of my other characters.

Currently my first character is a Nordic Ranger fighting for the Stormcloaks. Ignoring most magic related quests, picking and choosing through the daedric quests, trying to remain generally neutral. Definitely going to be a werewolf as well, I really dig the idea of this archetype.

Although my next character is going to be a pure mage type, vampire, doing all the evil daedric quests and such and murdering just about anyone who isn't an essential NPC. I can see actively aiding the dragons and leading them to important towns if they lock on to me quite fun. I'll have to look into this "Champion of the Dragons" RP style for sure.

Agree with your friend, OP, Tamriel belongs to the dragons. That said, I'm perfectly capable of roleplaying a character that kills them and enjoy it.

I was thinking about that earlier~ Irony~ Like Alduin you sought out the Dragonborn to 'kill' (Dispute, poke, prod) him/her. But inadvertently helped him/her 'escape' (find the thread) >:3 Causing your own doom, the rise and fall of empires, soda bottles falling over and countless of numbers being punched.

^_____________^ Tis interesting. However much I like Dragons, being born in the year of them, I shout back~ And my Thu'um breaks stuff.

EDIT: Of course. They are forum go'ers. Naturally gravitating towards the bosoms of their counters~ Hence why I never reveal my gender on any forum, let alone the internet~

Then the troll did well, dear~ Trolling is more aggressive these days~ Not like this. It used to be witty and smart but thanks to certain sites.. 2+2~ Trolling descended into mindless bashing. So -- if this is a troll. It is a refreshing one~ ^_^

My character is a nice guy if he walks into a city and a dragon attacks he kills it. If a dragon is nearby and may attack he kills it. If a dragon is alone on the top of a mountain he kills it just in case. I'm human not dragon, even if I have the soul of one it doesn't stop me from being human and preventing the enslavement and degradation of my peers. And Cali the only way you are able to play peacefully is b/c the dragon spawning never occurred at the moment it is like you are playing in a frozen bubble of time where Alduin just left Helgen.

Well I for one love killing dragons, creating sweet armor out of them, and making tons of gold selling their scales and bones. Now if only I could mount their heads in my house.
