Horizontal vs vertical mouse sensitivity

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 12:58 pm

I just played for a while with fraps running, and my FPS range goes from a bottom of 50 in towns to 300 in small houses. The game seems to get about unplayable over 150 or so.

I tried capping my fps, but I get horrible flickering/stuttering when I look up and down, like its snapping my view back to the needed sensitivity with every few frames.

This was driving me nuts as well. I turned off AA and the issue disappeared... just bizarre.

whats even more unappropriate, is that a 360 controler is even activated in a pc release, Im sorry but thats disrespectfull, so many issues, that hint to a console port, its sad, its really sad, Effing consoles, Once again cuffing us op
You say this like you really expected something different than a game designed for console ported to PC. Bethesda has done the exact same thing in the past. If you went into Skyrim know it would be a port it's not so terrible. Just wish they perhaps did more QA for PC builds.

With that out of the way I was having vsync issues as well. Updated my Logitech BT mouse, changed the vsync setting in the .ini and now it's working much better. However, now I a strange 'staggering/stuttering' issue when I look around quickly. It's smooth when looking slowly.

The fMouseHeadingY/X additions to the ini is a great temporary fix. THANK YOU.

There doesn't seem to be any way to make the FPS completely stable on my system. It can run at 120+ FPS in some places, but in others it'll drop down to a sluggish 20 FPS. I've capped it at 60 FPS with bandicam now, and that seems to help with the worst fluctuations, but it still takes some of the enjoyment out of the game :(

Use Bandicam or Dxtory and limit the FPS to around 120, maybe lower. It fixes sky/water flickering and methed-up vertical mouse speed.

Quick question—when altering fMouseHeading values, what's high and what's low? I have my fMouseHeadingYScale set to 0.005 but I'd like to make it even MORE sensitive...so how would I go about that?

So, in my game - while the mouse is still horrible... the sensitivity seems to change in the vertical axis when I move up and down. Basically, if i look directly up, or directly down - about the last 15 degrees of movement are MUCH faster. If I raise my mouse sensitivity, its about 10 degrees, if I lower it - the reverse. Really bizarre.

That's because y-axis movement is dependant of the frames per second. And when looking at the sky or down at the ground your fps rises a lot.

fMouseHeading is just the mouse sensitivity... u can actually change it in game under mouse sensitivity option...

Steeple,

Are you sure you need to make the changes in documents/games etc.? Most guides recommend doing it from the steam folder. I've been playing with so many different things to try and get the mouse to feel right that it's hard for me to tell which one is making a difference. Is it possible you need to both? And if you're sure it's the documents/games folder, should I reset my steam skyrim folder back to default? Or will that not make a difference? Thanks.
I know that the only way the changes took effect for myself and many others is to make alterations to the copies in the My Games\Skyrim folder. As far as I can tell (on my system, at least) the copies in the steam folder do nothing.

Funny thing is I have the same problem with BF3. Another built for Console game. I give up. It's time to join the herd and get an Xbox or PS3. This really svcks Bethesda.

PS: I was so pissed that I went to a buddies that was playing on PS3. No issues and I got to at least play a bit. But the wow experience I was expecting to have tonight just vanished with frustration.

Wow. Real.

Give any PC gamer the game for 3 seconds, and this problem will be incredibly obvious.
How can a major gaming company be this terrible in ports? I'm losing faith in every single company that decides to port a game to PC without considering the controls for mouse at ALL, resulting in terrible acceleration, vsync, and axis issues that need heavy tweaking just for the game to be playable.

This is absolutely shameful, and very bad business.

Valve is probably the only company that does PC gaming right.

Worst port ever. Please fix this obvious and gameBREAKING issue. NOW.

Bump this topic.

This is the most important issue of all the issues that Skyrim currently has.

The X and Y axes are DIFFERENT. Imagine if you woke up in the morning and found that you can turn your head, but that to look up or down forced every muscle in your body to contort in a miserable and terrible fashion.

THAT IS SKYRIM..

I did not pay 60 dollars to not-play a game that is UNPLAYABLE.

This is the most obvious mistake of all. I am very displeased.

Weird I don't have this problem when playing with a Mouse+Keyboard but as soon as I try my controller it appears. The Y-axis is faster that the X-axis. Pretty disappointing, since I sometimes get tired of playing with Mouse+Keyboard and would love to just lay back and play with my controller. I hope they fix it soon.

So i've paid for a game with Dragons flying over head, and I can't look up to see them? Lovely irony.

This is an incredibly annoying issue. I've tried all the fixes and nothing worked!

PATCH PLEASE! Or is the humble PC player not worth accomodating anymore...

I'm sick of all the Bethesda apologists. Get real, seriously. There used to be a time, before interwebs, WHEN A GAME HAD TO WORK OUT OF THE BOX!!! QA anyone? I mean how many games in a row has Bethesda dumped all over PC users and gave us a steaming pile on day one?

Like everyone ells I also noticed the diference in Horizontal vs vertical mouse speed.
Unfortuantly for me I can not get it fixed!

Adding to that issue I am unable to move up an down in a straight line.
I did not find any simmilar posts!

Please confirm if you have the same problem:
