Please stop bashing BethesdaSkyrim.

This game was put out before Christmas for only one reason...GREED. they new it wasnt ready but they put it out there anyway to make some money. I spent over 6 hours loading, downloading, patching. and getting every darn update I could and what do I have to show for it...15 minutes of game play and repeted crashes that lock my whole system up. Yes the game looks great on the outside, but on the inside it is very broke and needs emergency help asap.

You do realize you can assign hot keys, right?

You can??? How do you do this? I only knew you could assign favourites and then access them through a list you got to scroll down. I must prefer to just click a key and a spell appears in my hand.

Without doubt Skyrim out classes other Adventure/RPGs on a level few could have dreamt of even 5 years ago. Sure there are bells and whistles and the odd glitch and so on, but the perfect game has yet to be produced. Be fair now. In a game of this size it would be nothing short of a miracle if everything was utterly free from the odd glitch etc. Stand at the top of a mountain and look around you. What you are seeing blows the mind. From the huge luminescent moon to the snowstorm swirling below. Skyrim is beautiful to look at, engaging from the start, fun to play. I am a 60year old woman who has played Elder Scrolls games since their first inception. Each was superb in its own right (yes even with the glitches and stuff) Skyrim is a triumph. As an 'old fogie' I want to congratulate Bethesda on producing something truly special, spectacular and all engrossing.

PS. Any other old fogies out there??

Thank You for this post. I agree Skyrim is absolutely amazing and I am also tired of hearing people bashing the game just cause a few glitches, less than a week after its release. Bethesda does awesome work.

On a side note, its good to see the older generations playing video games. It brings a tear to my eye,

I WOULD stop bashing Bethesda/Skyrim, but I can't seem to find a better weapon than this Warhammer I'm using. If anyone has a nice Axe that I could borrow, though...

Skyrim is quickly turning into my favorite RPG in memory.

I do agree with people's concerns about the graphics. The art style and direction is indeed SPECTACULAR and there is no doubt that the game looks great and feels smooth and nice while playing (at least for me), but the graphics and textures are indeed disappointing. When you stop and look closely, things aren't so nice. There is no doubt that this is clearly due to creating for and porting from the consoles. I look forward to mods.

After playing almost all weekend (I just couldn't stop playing) I too have to say that this is THE best game I've ever played. I've read similar opinions from many players, that can't be coincidence. It's an epic achievement, congrats to Bethesda.
On the other hand I can understand people having issues.
Agreed! This is shaping up to be the best RPG I've ever played. Part of my enthusiasm is that I love the Norse theme and I think they absolutely nailed it. However, it's also some of the best combat, character customization and reactive world I've seen. An incredible accomplishment.

If this is greed, slacking, or whatever else the haters are charging Bethesda with... I wish more game companies would "slack" like this.

I agree with the OP completely.

Yes and no. I agree that the ZOMG suxors threads are a bit much. But not pointing out a major bug is not a good thing for devs either. They need to get fixed. And they won't get fixed without someone saying something. I've been having some problems with fast travel -- I have a missing town or something. Annoying for me, but probably a breaker for someone who's never played the series. There are ways to fix it and probably a few major patches in a few weeks.

Not likely. There will be 1 or 2 add ons for Skyrim in the next 5 years plus a new full-sized Fallout game plus 1 or 2 add ons for that game. Add in a development time of at least 2 years (and likely 3 or more years) and the news TES game is a long ways off.

Skyrim is the best game I've played to date, and I've been playing lots of RPG's over the years. I'm nearly 27 y/o and I've seen lots of games, and I've witnessed lots of beautiful moments in gaming.
As far as I'm concerned, this game holds the best fantasy atmosphere to date - and it shows.

Agreed. Loving it - if you want to bash it try coming up with gameplay, story and content even remotely as good as what they've come up with.

Too many are quick to bash and have no idea the amount of creative hard work that has gone into this project.

Well done Bethesda.

Please stop protecting Bethesda/Skyrim. This is the worst game to date, in my opinion.

See how that works?

People have opinions. Complaining about it one way or the other helps nobody, especially if we're going to complain about those people who have issues (often legitimate) with the UI. I've had those sames issues, but despite that, I do enjoy the game quite a lot.

I'm just trying to point out that complaining one way or the other won't help anybody. Instead of complaining about the people complaining about the UI, try helping them out, giving them pointers, and helping discover work arounds for issues. Just because you don't have an issue doesn't mean you can't help out those who do.

Said it before, and I'll say it again.

I disagree, and this kind of thing really annoys me. I loved Skyrim to death, and I'll certainly argue with the people who didn't, but I respect their opinions, and I'm certainly not calling them "spoiled". Gamers aren't obliged in any way to like the game just because the devs put a lot of time into it. Bad games have lots of work put into them; are people spoiled if they don't like them? Nobody but contest winners have been "given the opportunity to play such a game as Skyrim". They paid 60 dollars, and, if they didn't like it, then that's 60 dollars they could have spent on a different game.

I'm not a professional writer, but I write, and I can tell you this for certain: if you can't take criticism, then you shouldn't make things for other people to enjoy. There's nothing (nothing, not even Reese's Cups) that everybody likes.

It is just another case where those who are really enjoying the game are busy playing the game.... for hours and hours and hours... money well spent.

and for those who would just rather biitch about the world and everything in it, they prowl the forums looking to QQ . So be it... I love the game and will now get back to playing...cheers

I know! I love Skyrim - it's my favorite of the series! I grew tired of the "Save the empire - become a champion/hero" aspect of most of the games. Morrowind had the whole Nerevarine thing, and that was cool, but Skyrim - you're the Dovahkiin throughout the entire story and you grow in power as it goes on. That's the story part that I loved. The graphics of Skyrim were insane, I could barely run them on my computer. (I maxed Oblivion out with TONS of graphical mods that made it look almost real - barely any lag; that's why it surprised me that Skyrim lagged haha) The gameplay was better than ALL of the games combined. Everything about Skyrim was awesome (I also like that you can become a Thane, own a house [even though houses were in Oblivion], and one addition I'm REALLY loving - the bookcases. You don't have to manually place the books! Haha.

Well people bashing the game get least attention so I don't see a reason to worry about it. If you are disappointed with the game and explain reasons in proper manner people will listen, if you scream in frustration about it no one will take you seriously, not even devs.

I have had my issues with the game as well. But, agreed with the OP. They are trying their hardest down at Bethesda...Gotta give them credit. In a world so big and massive, there are bound to be a few bugs. Like I said, I have made complaints as well, I am however willing to put them aside and continue to play the game. My second play was better than my first, I am sure my third will be better than the second.

I am sure they will fix the bugs, give them time, game just came out in November.

Besides, all the people who complain now will go out and buy the next Bethesda Game title...

@OP: I think you're missing a lot of the complaints and criticisms, which are totally valid. Here's a few:
  • The PS3 version became unplayable after the file size hit a certain limit (generally when your character hit level 40ish). UNPLAYABLE. Not a minor bug or glitch, but a completely broken product.
  • Todd promised a lot of things that he didn't really deliver. Radiant lolAI?
  • Dialogue "choices." I mean, really? Half the dialogue I have ONE option to select. What's the point?
  • Dungeon "puzzles." What was the point? Rotate these stones. Seriously, rotate them some more. Now, rotate that one. Cool.
  • Becoming a guild master, a most honorable hero, the most horrible villain in Skyrim-- no NPC's recognize who or what you are in any way.
  • The towns are pitifully small and horribly underpopulated, even compared to Morrowind.
These are but a few. Is this game fun? Sure! Is this game Elder Scrolls quality? Maybe. Could this have gone down as one of the best games in history had they not stuck to that ridiculous 11/11/11 deadline and fixed some of the above issues? Absolutely.

I found my Skyrim to be some what shallow myself I expected more from all the hype and sensationalism around the game.In saying that I did not hate the game just thought it was very average not one of the better RPG's I have played but not the worst.I always value a good story and side characters in RPG's(unless is Diablo not sure what it is just like it)so I guess this game for myself was doomed from the start
