Soldiers - 14
Medic - 10
Engineer - 10
Operative - 16

I am just happy they are all really close in #'s. A good balance of classes in any one game will make for a fun game. That way you don't have to worry about switching classes in-game.

Yeah, but that will die off this game just like all the MW2 kids will go back to MW2 once they realize you actually have to strategize for this game...

I really hope the COD kiddes that need K/DR's go back to MW2 and people you can work as a team and strategize stay in this game.

This thread has kinda devolved into a "All those stupid 'kiddies' are gonna play operative" Yes many kids who play videogames can be aggravating, and I completely support bashing them, some kids do not talk incessantly and actually say productive things. Also for every stupid kid I have ran into on XBL I have ran into an equally stupid advlt.

Anyway, I'm gonna player light operative because I love being stealthy in games. I love the sense of self-satisfaction of doing something helpful, even if a lot of players are unaware of it. I also played a lot of Mirror's Edge and cannot wait to find a group of enemies situated below me. YES I UNDERSTAND I AM NOT A NINJA-ASSASSIN! But depending on how grenades work... Auto-pvssyr seems like an awesome feature too, in TF2 it was very aggravating to report enemies, get yelled at because of my voice, then get yelled at for not doing recon, rinse, repeat.

This is the problem people are complaining about.....Operatives really aren't about stealth, and more about subterfuge and reconnaissance. Yes you can play stealthily, but any class can do that.

I love the sense of self-satisfaction of doing something helpful, even if a lot of players are unaware of it.

Which is a big reason why I play Medic.

What do you mean, "how they work?" You pull the pin, you throw it, it explodes....the longer you hold it, the shorter the fuse gets.

Stealth in a game where you can't go invisible is a half-truth at best. Furthermore, a heavy Operative is just as viable as a light one. In fact they have more action points in which to carry out their tasks; so in some situations they may be more capable.

I picked the light engineer so that i could set down a turret and from the container city part 2 video the turret seems like it could be used very tactically to stop anyone from getting through a certain point or just to mow down the enemy teams defenses.

I agree with this assessment and I think its a little sad. I too enjoy being stealthy and quick. A light operative is a combination of the spy and scout from TF2. BTW I also like playing engineer I am rather team oriented most of the time. Any one who has played this can appreciate a well placed knife in the back from time to time. I also like the idea of being able to provide intel for the team, even having a few seconds warning of an enemy attack can make all the difference in the world.

If only it were so easy. Any way you might hate enemy operatives but in the end you will want one guarding you against the enemy operatives. On the flip side I have a vested interest in keeping the "Tree of Life" alive and that is exactly what I would be doing.

In conclusion while a lot of the kids that you are worried about will likely try and play light operatives most seem not to have the patience to be a successful sneak and will be easier for all you heavy's and your big ole weapons and health bars.

the operative is not stealthy at all. just because your an operative does not mean that you will be better at avoiding enemies. you can play soldier and still sneak by enemies just as well as if you were an operative.

1. Subterfuge and Reconnaissance are both generally more effective when stealthy. I don't know about you, but if I noticed an enemy watching me I would probably kill them. And subterfuge is always more fun when they never even knew it was coming :),
Also Operatives are the more stealthy of all the classes, with disguises and what-not.

2. People are aware of being healed, unless they are REALLY oblivious.

3. I mean the damage, would dropping it on a group of 3 really close together guys kill all, or would it cause one to die and the others to get angry?

not necessarily. shortly after the game comes out, people will realize that getting disguised will not be that helpful to the team. operatives on the other team can tell when you are disguised. considering that most of the people playing the game will be operatives, that will be a problem. also, you cannot use your weapons while disguised. you have the backstab but youll have to be quick with it before another operative finds you

Good point, but disguises can be very useful. I am completely in agreement that they won't be what I'm personally use to from TF2.

What? The Operative can disguise as a fallen enemy. Sure, it's not like you can go invisible, and using the disguise to fool enemies will require a little finesse, but it's silly to say the Operative is not stealthy at all. Wedgwood said that the Operative is the "stealthy guy who sneaks behind enemy lines".

It's good that you're trying to prepare people for the Operative being neither a Third Echelon agent nor a TF2 spy, and not relying entirely on going unnoticed, but let's not get carried away. Operative is the sneakiest role. It's just also equipped to engage in traditional FPS combat, and will be required to employ both shooter skills and infiltration skills as circumstances change.

the operative is not the stealthiest role. it is the role that requires you to be the smartest to avoid enemies and get behind them. operatives dont automatically get the ability to hide better but they have to be smart to get it done. they just cant run by enemies. any other class can do the same thing to get behind enemy lines but it isnt required of them. the operatives have to in order to get their job done

Gotta admit, other than the disguise, which seems limited in its usefulness, none of the Operatives other abilities seem stealth-oriented at all. Of course, there are other abilities we haven't yet heard of. Even then, I doubt there will be invisibility cloaks or things like that. The Operative class may be best played in a stealthy manner, but the class itself doesn't appear to do any of the work for you in that regard, which I feel is a good thing. If you're not careful, you will be spotted and shotted, no matter what class you are.

yeah and plus due to the size of the map not sure how long you can go un-noticed. Cant wait to see. plus if you have clan cookies you show up on the radar. :jammasterjay:
