Skyrim Not Nominated For IGN GotY

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:14 pm

LOL I'm not surprised. IGN gave a really really bad review of Skyrim.

9.5/10 is bad?

It deserves about a 4/10 on PS3.
The only reason its a 4 instead of a 1, is because of the content. Just if the content was playable though....

You should write a book.

I have. Three of them, each Independently published. Nothing incredibly profitable. More a hobby than anything else. I also write for a few tech related blogs.

Thank you for your support. :goodjob:

EDIT:

If UC3 scored the highest reviews of any game in history than why is Skyrim killing it on meta? Even the broken PS3 version is tied with UC3. Also how could it be the highest reviewed game in history when UC2 has higher scores than it?

With all the flaws bethesda games have, and the fact they don't take the time to work them out or figure out what is causing them, I think people are starting to catch on. The message is basically shape up or ship out.

I seriously spent a good portion of my time with the game making him feel up trash cans and house plants. Even though I was really sick of seeing the molester hand shake thing he has going on with inanimate objects. At first It honestly drove me nuts every time I accidentally got too close to a bookcase and he started feeling it up even though it was a good 3 feet away from him

That is true. The game changes the camera angles and forces you into looking at stuff all the time, it's like the developers are screaming "Look at this mountain! We spent hours making this so we're gonna force you to look at it as much as we can!". The mountain is awesome though, so I don't mind having to look at it.

It's a very narrative driven game, you have to have an interest in the story and the characters to be able to enjoy it properly.

For me, shape up or ship out was with Morrowind and FONV. With Skyrim, it's the last straw. No way I'll ever purchase a betatesda product again. What's $60 less to them here and there in the future, when they'll have made upwards of 1 billion on skyrim alone though?

My copy works great and I'm sorry if yours isn't but everyone isn't having a problem.

Shame they couldn't recognize a great game and even give props in a nom...kind of invalidates whatever their choice ends up being when you don't include all the top games.

:tes:

It runs good for alot of people.......until you get to a certain point. Mine played great for the 1st 130 hours too. Now that the save file is getting big and I'm up to around 145 hours, it's getting really choppy and annoying to play. Most of the people who haven't had problems haven't really put a dent in the game yet.

There are more than one GOTY awards...
Just because Skyrim won one of them, doesn't make it the Game of the Year...lets see what game wins the most of them

No nomination on PS3 is fair. Definite GOTY on PC and XBox, though.

Why does everyone complain about the lag for Ps3? I have a Ps3 and I am facing alot of lag, but it's all cool. I don't judge a game on it's technical issues. And I will continue playing the game even if I get 1 frame per second.

I've had it happen a couple times in over 100 hours of gameplay. Was able to get back into the game in 30 seconds; no big deal. Just have to remember to save often.

You're the problem. The framerate is unexceptable and no, you wouldn't be plating with a FPS at 1. Get real.

It's not a fact though. No matter how you put it. A game can CTD for a number of reasons, but for whatever reason it has ran flawlessly on my PC the entire time I've been playing it. The only issues I have had is with bugs like the backwards flying dragons. Otherwise it has ran great. I know I'm not the only person who has been so lucky. So just don't make blanket statements like that. I don't care how many people may complain about CTD it don't mean every PC user has or will have that problem.

PS3's game of the year is Uncharted 3.

Yeah, the whole 9-10 hours of it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the series, but I finished both it and AC:Revaluations in just under 20hrs. For the rental cost of $20. :) (I could have rented for 3 rather 7 days but meh.)

In the end though, GOTY is just someone, or a collection of someones opinions anyway and holds little water really. Speaking for myself of course.

The amount of people having that problem is troublesome though.

If UC3 scored the highest reviews of any game in history than why is Skyrim killing it on meta? Even the broken PS3 version is tied with UC3. Also how could it be the highest reviewed game in history when UC2 has higher scores than it?

Uncharted 3 Meta Critic Score: 8.4
Skyrim Meta Critic Score: 5.5

8.4 is higher than even the PC version of Skyrim.
And for a PS3/XBOX exclusive to have an 8.4, is pretty incredible due to the opposite console players giving it terrible reviews.

Uncharted 2 had lower reviews than it.
For example:

IGN Uncharted 2: 9.5/10
IGN Uncharted 3: 10/10

And Uncharted 3 got 59 perfect reviews, which is the most of all time.

*BY THE WAY,* the only reason Skyrim on PS3 got a 92 was because the lag starts once you save file is very high. (About 60 hours in)
These critics reviewed the game THE DAY IT WAS RELEASED, meaning they hadn't seen it yet.

IGN gave Skyrim a 9.5, (which is lower than Uncharted 3) and than bashed it later on in an article about how bad the lag was.
