Skyrim Not Nominated For IGN GotY

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:26 am

But not ALL REVIEWS ARE NO METACRITIC.

Do you understand that?
Skyrim has 13 reviews on MetaCritic. Over 100 Magazines/Sites review it!!!

You can't base all of it on Metacritic, as its completely unreliable.

And look at this. PlayStation UK updated their review from AFTER they played it for a while.

PlayStation UK (Skyrim) 70/100
PlayStation UK (Uncharted 3) 100/100

They must've realized how buggy Skyrim is...

That's why I said metacritic is skewed. It's the average of scores submitted to it, not the average of all scores given to a game. Oh well, I feel like I'm just talking in circles now... really, I just hope at this point Bethesda actually follows through and fixes the game, not only so that it actually deserves these rewards in the long run, but so I can finish the game.

Hostility? This is actually one of the more reasonable conversations I've seen regarding this topic, as far as the whole of the internet goes...

Skyrim is one of the best games of all time....I love it.

That's your opinion. The game is fun and it has definitely taken many hours from me, but the question is, am I going to want to play this game in a decade?

Good.. Skyrim even on all platforms doesnt deserve a GOTY nomination. Gamers should not support unfinished products.
It's not unfinished on my platform.

I've had 1 bug in 40 hours of playing and only 1 crash after about 6 or 7 hours of playing.

With a game this big thats more than finished in my eyes.

i'm on PC.

Skyrim on PS3 has 13 reviews.

How are the scores unreliable? You can look at the scores and immediately tell that the PS3 version of Skyrim is the worst version. IS that not accurate? lol

Are you really surprised that a PS magazine rated a PS exclusive higher than a multi platform game? One single reivew is less accurate than a bunch of reviews averaged out. I will use your logic for a second.

Xplay UC3 = 4/5
Xplay Skyrim = 5/5

SEE? Who cares what Xplay thinks? Who cares what IGN thinks? or PS magazine form the UK. I sure don't care what they individually think. The only score that is honest is a combination of everyone's score. Now do you agree? Or is Skyrim the better game because Xplay said it was?

Also for the record I agree Skyrim shouldn't win PS3's game of the year.

Skyrim on PS3 Just went up on Metacritic.

UC2 96 out of 100
UC3 92 out of 100
Skyrim xbox 96 out of 100
Skyrim PC 95 out of 100
Skyrim PS3 93 out of 100

All of those are the combined critic scores, You know the score that matters. THE score that is so important that on Steam they even use those scores.

Don't bother people. Big companies like Bethesda have PR firms that exploit these types of consumer review sites.

What's with all the hate on Catherine? It's a great unique game in what seems like a sea of clones. Were the puzzles too hard for you guys or something?

It's a puzzle game and an original IP, which means that it's tendu to hate on it regardless of quality.

According to Betatesdas, this game has potentially 500 hours of gameplay. 40 hours or even 100-200 hours isn't even scratching the surface. Relax, there's still plenty of time for all of you to find game-breaking bugs, glitches, lag.

No surprise. The game is quite average over all. I mean there is alot of average but it's all average. Combat is probably the worst I've played this year. Animation is worse than alot of ps2 era games. Story is forced ad forgettable. Quests are all fetch quests. It does have good music and draw distance. So there's that.

It's listed as a nominee... I'm not sure what you meant.

Yeah, I'm not getting it either.

It's listed under RPG's of the year, just not game of the year.
Is an RPG of the year not a game of the year? I'm confuzzled.

I guess I sort of answered my own question. I think. :obliviongate:

MetaCritic ISN'T a combination of everyone's score!

It's a combination of the reviews sent in, which is nowhere near all of them.
And I used PlayStation UK as an example because it took its time to ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME, instead of playing for 20 minutes and praising it.

I think Skyrim has user reviews of 5.5/10 for a reason. That reason is because it's a completely unfinished game, that is next to unplayable.
The few bugs Uncharted 3 has are fixed/being fixed.

Bethesda claimed to fix the PS3 frame rate issues, yet they made it worse. LMAO

Meh, considering the horror stories I've read about the PS3 version being unplayable after 12 hours or so of gameplay, I guess it makes sense it shouldn't even be considered. I mean if crysis 3 came out and had the best graphics on earth but only for the first 3 minutes, after that it turned into a 8bit game and was never fixed, I wouldn't expect to see it nominated for best graphics.

The fact that game reviewers were NOT given a PS3 version early but were given an XBOX360 and PC version speaks volumes about why it was not nominated.

It was released broken in order to get the 11-11-11 marketer's wet dream date. That's pretty darn clear.

The first 20-30 hours work well, then it falls apart (for a TON of people, this is well documented even if your perfect magic copy is still working, it is not refutable that it breaks and since all consoles are pretty much the exact same hardware it will happen to you eventually!).

That's why it doesn't deserve any PS3 specific awards. I can't speak for the PC or Xbox version, but if they were playable without major game crashing bugs, I could see it deserving GoTY. But it sounds like it isn't so. I wish more companies were like Blizzard and delayed release until they finished the game.

There are more than one GOTY awards...
Just because Skyrim won one of them, doesn't make it the Game of the Year...lets see what game wins the most of them

VGA 2011 goty is the most important one.

But user scores are so easily tampered. It's hard to base a game off user scores when I could easily rate a game several times over if I was willing to take the time to do it. How often do we hear about user scores being messed with? I know Meta's critic score is far from perfect. No review system is, but I do believe Meta critic score to be the best judge we have to go by.

joke post? vga's are the biggest joke to real gamers , its a big popularity contest.

They had DAII for rpg nominees but not Witcher2...

NO bf3 for graphics nominations because the PC version wasn't popular enough...even though on max it looks better than every GFX nominee they had by MILES.

I don't get the hype UC3 gets. The game was so boring. I quit playing after chapter 9 and I honestly didn't want to go that far into it. I got chills every time I seen the stupid triangle symbol pop up on the screen because I knew once I pushed it I would have to sit through another cut scene I had no interest in watching. The amount of the game I played was more a video than a game. I personally didn't want to watch a movie I wanted to PLAY a video game. It don't help anything that Nathan Drake become extremely aggravating after the first 10 minutes of playing it. Seriously he can't walk in a straight line without lunging his head forward and downward as if he was a bull trying to ram through a cement wall? And why is he so touchy feely with other peoples belongings. I seriously spent a good portion of my time with the game making him feel up trash cans and house plants. Even though I was really sick of seeing the molester hand shake thing he has going on with inanimate objects. At first It honestly drove me nuts every time I accidentally got too close to a bookcase and he started feeling it up even though it was a good 3 feet away from him, BUT amazingly after seeing my 20th cut scene I was more contempt having him leave his fingerprints and possibly DNA all over the place than sit through another boring mini movie.

Also why was the aiming so dreadfully slow? Why was even the combat all around lame and boring? Why was it so tightly scripted to the point where I could tell exactly which ledge would give way before I even threw myself at it? Not to mention the treasure hunting, What exactly is the point in searching for treasure when all you have to do is walk around like a lunging drunkard and wait for a giant triangle to pop up? I seen maybe two treasure items myself in the game world the other 40 or so I found on accident when a triangle popped up and interrupted me rubbing the walls and people's cats.

I tried to use my PS3 from more than a movie player and all I got was a stupid game that is mostly a movie. Blah not my thing. It's another game series that would go unnoticed if it wasn't an exclusive. But since it is an exclusive the PS3 camp has to pretend it's the greatest thing ever just like all of the xbox kiddies praise Gears.

Thank God someone said it. I frankly find Uncharted games to be a chore to get through; I tried and failed to complete both 1 and 2. All of them have the same repetitive enemy patterns (leading to rousing sessions of peekaboo with guns), the same predictable and tiresome "oh crap a piece of this mechanism Drake was climbing has broken off and things are falling on him" schtick, the cookie-cutter Indiana Jones storylines, etc. The fact that it's even being compared to a TES game (PS3 issues aside), let alone being dubbed the superior game, is Twilight-Zone surreal to me.

too bad switching weapons is done through an archaic system. Where's thebquik equip? Where the weapon wheel? Why do I have to spend 20 minutes in a menu just setup another freaking menu? Dumbest game decision

You can switch weapons all you want but each combat choice is completely shallo. Hot detection pretty much doesn't exist for all gameplay related purposes.

Enemies never have different tactics, they do all the se exact thing, are all completely open to attack at all times, and do nothing to avoid getting hit.

What the point of switching weapons when enemies don't even have different tactics. There was a video on here yesterday of a guy going through the whole enemy catalog with just punches cuz no thought ever went into enemy ai or design. Even dragons have the exact same three moves.

The combat is snorefest.

Haha. Seriously? DA2 was a joke! I'm glad I don't pay any attention to these stupid awards. I did see a story about Skyrim winning the GOTY on Spike TV, though, for whatever that's worth.
