Is there any information as to whether or not we can Dual Wi

Well, every single second in your first playthrough is exploration and the RPG aspect is made clear almost all of the time as well.
Killing stuff is what seems to be the smallest part.
It's still a big part yknow, but not as big as the exploration and RPG part.
But maybe it's just how I view the RPG aspect of the game or something.

It just sounded before like you considered it to be insignificant, by saying it was a 'small part'.
That's OK then. :)

Well that's the fun part of an RPG; you can view it anyway you like. And of course Combat, Fighting, and Shooting will always be part of Fallout. Though, if every solution to a problem is by killing someone, then Fallout will lose all of its value as a Fallout (the way I see the Fallout series), though I'm sure it won't happen. Weapon features are great, but it seems only those are popping up.

The same reason why we have even more topics on Pre-order pack comparisons.

Because we're slowly running out of things to talk about, and the new stuff gets drained dry too quickly. We're apparently already over talking about Benny.

Honestly it seems like most of us just don't think it belongs in Fallout. It's supposed to be an RPG. A first person RPG. Just because half of you guys want to have your "akimbo" doesn't mean the rest of us do as I'm sure you've all read. I don't think DW belongs in the FoU. It's supposed to be more like a survival game and about the story and the characters, not "OH YAHZ IM S000 khwel wit mah dual 12g Sh0tgunz0!" If you want [censored], go play CoD, that's what it's there for.

I personally don't have a "Universe Compatibility" issue, as I'm one of those misguided types who thinks anything can be made Fallout Compatible if worked and worded correctly, as I have a gameplay mechanic issue.
With DW in there, just for arguement, does this mean we attack twice in VATS? That we see an increased drain on our ammo pool? Does the left trigger while goes to another fuction automatically the trigger for the gun now or do both guns fire from one trigger press...?
I think it's just too complicated for the current engine.

And I guess every single person that wants dual wield talk like that^.
And if the rest of you don't want it then don't use it, it won't hurt you or your family cause it's in the game. It's not a bomb.

And could someone please answer me: what is it about dual wield that instantly makes it cod? Lots of games has had it before.

I would think it would make it more Halo than COD, as COD is mostly rifles, shotguns, and rocket launchers. Though I'm trying really hard right now to recall earlier instances of Dual Wielding...
I recall the first Hitman game had a Dual Wielding thing, but you had to drop one pistol first, pick up another, then pick up the one you dropped.
To be honest, Dual Wielding has worked in some games really well, and in others not so well. I honestly do not see it as an affront to the sancticity of the Fallout series.
Then again, I liked Mothership Zeta, so my personal tastes probably aren't on par with everyone else.

EDIT: I think if they removed the HP and replaced it with COD's and Gears of Wars health system, THAT would be much more of an affront to Fallout than Dual Wielding.

"Don't like it, don't use it", to me, translates well to: "Do not want it implemented".

I wasn't sure if it was in Marathon, but then I recalled dual wielding the rifles in Marathon Durandal, so yeah, there you go.

Well thats why I'm not totally against Dual Wielding, it just has to be balanced and not the ultimate ''I win'' button. It must have its weakness and advantages over using a single pistol/weapon. In a lot of games, the ''akimbo'' is just overpowered and everyone uses it. Call of Duty has a nice example and that's the double ''Ranger'' shotguns. And I do remember games where Dual-Wield was a fun feature, but in those games it did had its weakness over other weapons.

It translates to cod because thats when people started whining to get it into any game that has guns.

The only person in history, ever, to have actual recorded evidence of being able to use a handgun in each hand is Bass Reeves. And he was probably the best actual gunslinger to ever bless the American West, and probably did more than Wyatt Earp.

While we're at it, lets dual weild mini-guns that shoot mini-nukes

But seriously. If it was a trait in the beginning that was optional (which makes enemies dual wield also so you cant overpower) then sure.

Personally, I'm against the idea, its something made for Saints Row and the like. Fallout is an RPG not an Action FPS. Not intendedly anyway

If it were done right it would be cool, as in I kill a guy and he drops a pistol which I pick up unload on some guys then drop or it could go straight to the inventory.

Trying to reload it would be stupid unless you grow a 3rd hand at some point.

As for the accuracy reduction.

I think some1 said -40%? Too much at least with a offhand pistols, for pistols I would say -25%, with rifles, depends on it they are full auto. If yes then -40% would be good.

I think the only time it would be useful though is if they make this game like like it has Marts Mutagen Mod.
(a mod that adds new animals\monsters and massive increase spawns - especially ghouls think resident evil lol.)

how can Dual Wields be stupid??? it would be more effective with 1 hand weapons that take alot of time to reload like the .32 and .44 magnums and sawn off shotguns and guns that would really work well with Akimbo are the 10 mm Machine pistols and 10 mm pistols that may seem like a limited list but I'm more than 100% positive the Devs with there power of creation could make more weapons possibly add in Uzi's make some more Energy weapons so long as it can be held in one hand why not be able to dual ?

this isnt COD.

No, it's an RPG set in a larger-than-life world. Why can't my STR 10, Agility 10, Small Guns 100, Power Armour wearing character use two piddly little pistols at the same time? Effectively one of the strongest people to have ever lived, the best you can possibly be with weaponry, wearing a suit of armour designed to increase your strength, and two 10mm pistols at the same time is "too much"?

To come at it from a "what would the perk require, and what would the act require" persepctive, how about:

Minimum 8 agility to even get the perk.

No strength requirement for dual-wielding itself per se, but- since you're not using both hands on one gun, an automatic +2 to the STR requirement of whichever gun has the higher STR requirement which then applies to both guns.

Reloading takes twice as long minimum- you've got to do it twice, plain and simple. None of this Hollywood "throw two magazines in the air, drop the ones out of the weapons, catch both flying ones simultaneously with the guns" silliness.

Accuracy, instant 40% reduction minimum (I'd prefer more like 60% min myself) and aimed shots aren't allowed- you wanna spray-n-pray, then start spraying and start praying. Even in VATS, it's like melee in FO3: you aim for the target, with no option to target a specific part of that target

Yes, westerns are loaded with dual-wielders. And people who fire 10+ shots between reloads, from 6-shot revolvers. And Bugs Bunny deliberate ricochet shots like pool players doing trick 3-rail shots. ;)

why must there be a strength requirment ??? did you need a strength requirment to hold a mini gun or any other heavy weapons ?

Why does every game need to resemble MW2 and Halo 3? Fallout is not about guns, it's about how to survive in an environment where ammo is supposed to be scarce, where every shot counts.

Modding New Vegas to add it after release? That's a good idea, hell, make a mod that let's you dual-wield M107's while I'm at it; it's fun to add, but not in the original game.

The only reason I see of adding that to the game is for the ''cool, badass'' factor which I think is really misplaced in the Fallout world. It's like adding an AC-130 into Fallout because it's ''badass''. I know a lot about guns. Wielding and shooting two pistols at once would make it useless and a waste of ammo; there's no real advantage over using only one pistol, it'll be worse. Why do you think armies around the world don't wield two pistols; if it were that advantageous over single pistols, do you think they'd still have only one pistol on them?. You couldn't even control the pistols to make shots count. If you spray and pray, where's the aspect of ''ammo scarcity''? ''Oh, it's for demonstrating I'm a badass and all ya know?'' Tell that to me again when you'll have used up all your ammo on two geckos and are now faced with raiders.

I'm not saying New Vegas should be realistic as hell, because I'd hate it, I'm just saying that common sense is a factor here. If I wanted to have dual-wield, I'd play Halo 3 or MW2, but I don't.

if that were true your character would need to eat or it would die

it would need to learn how to hunt

it would need to know how to trap

set up tent

sleep or you would have the same effects as when you get addicted and the drug your addicted to is not around

not get killed during sleep
