I've got more than 200 hrs. into my character, but have actually done very little in the game as far as quests go (MQ, I've visited the greybeards and that's it; In the DB I've completed the initial three contracts but haven't been back to the sanctuary to actually "finish" them; I've done three daedric quests: Hircine, Peroyite, and Azura) and haven't done much exploratory dungeon diving either; I haven't spammed any of the magic schools, and I've only tinkered in the crafting skills (not using any as money makers, e.g.); and yet, I'm somehow, inexplicably already lvl. 25. Which, of course, leads me to my first suggested change ....
1) As others have said, slow down the skill progression-rate for the crafting skills AND speechcraft. I'm barely ankle-deep in the available quests, yet I'm already half-way to the supposed soft level-cap. At most I feel like my PC should be lvl. 10, probably less.
I know many complained about the level-scaling in OB, but at least in OB, fwiw, I could control my leveling (i.e., sleep once and bump up a single level). In Skyrim, if my roleplay feels like it's time to advance a level for a specific perk or whatever, I'm forced to advance thru all the levels of my accumulated experience points. Icky bad!
The thing that especially irks me is that because the leveling happens so fast, my gear quickly gets outdated and requires me to use the "secondary" skills even more ... e.g., I'm gonna have to spam smithing to get the Arcane perk so that Saviors Hide remains feasible, which in turn is going to probably boost me another 2-3 lvls.
I like to roleplay and not fast travel, but it didn't take long before I felt forced to FT just so I could level a bit slower -- total buzzkill.
2) The "google earth" map is almost useless. Replace it w/ a map that's actually practical. Indeed, the same could be said for the quest journal too. A single sentence does not describe a quest in any meaningful way, at least in a way meaningful enough that I can rely on it vs. being forced to rely on the quest marker -- as it is now, the journal is nothing more than a list for the quest marker.
3) The UI for containers is a mess. If nothing else, simply use the same interface as for merchants and have those "tabs" all sort alphabetically. Something, anything really, would be greatly appreciated.
