Thank you very much for this very nice new feature, Bethesda. :tes:

I hope we'll get mounted combat killcams, and also the ability to cast spells and use bows from the mount.

Do we know whether there'll be a mounted combat perk tree?

Also, I hope that the bug preventing me to talk to Raerek and buy Vlindren Hall will be solved soon in some patch.

This sounds awesome as hell, already planning on making a Khajiit mounted-archer class. And an Imperial Knight on horseback...gonna be so damn awesome..

It's definitely a positive step. Horses will be more appealing now. I am glad to see this happening.

Now...if they can just add 1P view, allow magic use and adjust the horse's AI to not engage in combat...

I'd rather have more gallop time than mount combat. Not to dissuade from the option, but what's to fight? The occasional wolf, bear, or saber cat? Bleh. Heck, I don't even dismount for these. I just gallop enough from them as to not kill my horse (again... I didn't know it could die).

Question: the title says "1.6". Does this mean there's a 1.5, and if so, does it load automatically on consoles?

It's rather a bummer to see these updates come long after I'm really into the game. Perhaps I should stop playing, destroy all my save files, and restart? LOL! No way. Mounted combat's not worth that.

Bethesda has just released a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1376243-new-beta-update-on-steam-168706/ and it contains mounted combat! I thought I'd post here to let console players know, since this is just really cool!

Video: http://youtu.be/yS2GG2tLh9Y

It's not perfect but it's really fun and an awesome edition to the game!

Despite what you think, some console players are savvy enough to find that out for themselves. Thanks.

Yes, there is a 1.5. Several actually. On the Xbox, you are asked if you want to go through with it. And lastly you do not need to restart a new character for mounted combat. That is only if a "fix" in the patch applies to a quest that you have already been involved in. There is another reason, I can't recall it right now.

Ahh, the graces of growing old.

Oh, I just read on Youtube that you couldn't cast spells when mounted. No love for sorcerers?

Can we hope mounted magic for an upcoming update?

Oh man - finally. No longer having to dismount to kill some wolves! Now, where is the horse armor!

Horseback Archery + Slow Poisons is going to be devastating. Archery got a huge boost with this one.

You would figure that once this is released and in game, modders will jump on taking it to a level Bethesda never can. Don't be surprised if within a few weeks after official release you have mods for magic mounted combat and alternative mounts, now that the game has the mechanics to work with.

Cool :)

Now i shall await being able to throw fireballs while on horseback, and even further afterwards, being able to throw fireballs on dragonback.

I'm a console player. And i didn't know about this. There is no harm in talking about it.

I'm chilled, in fact i'm so laid back i'm horizontal.

And like i said "SOME console players are savvy enough" others obviously aren't. Batman away -------------------------->

Posted this in the equivalent thread in the Skyrim mods forum, thought it'd be helpful here too: this beta patch improves average FPS on my pc by about 3-4. Tested on whiterun and riverwood multiple times and compared them to my previous benchmark results of 1.5.26. Nothing significant on my machine (e.g. drivers, .ini settings, mods) was changed between those two patches, so I'd say this is a rather nice improvement :)

Again:

Isn't this horrendously imbalanced? I mean from that vid it doesn't look like he's ever being hit.

Unbalanced against what? The computer? You know what else is unbalanced? Bandits cant shout dragon words
Back at me- i have an unfair advantage.......

Well that's what many people have asked for, thanks guys.I will try it out sooner or later.I still hope they do something about the weak vamps and werewolves.
Also i'am glad to see that at least one company(Bethesda) is listening to their fans and people that buy the games.Unlike EA or Crapcom.Thank you Beth,we all love your work!
